I’m am currently travelling back from Iceland (the country not the supermarket) I will reply to all your lovely and sometimes offensive comments when I land! Happy new year guys Damo.
Totally agree. This is a 14.58min video and its full of actual content! I don't watch much on RU-vid apart from car videos, and alot of them spend so much time just chatting bubbles, nothing of actual importance, unlike this guy. Keep the quality of the videos going lad.
This is a fantastic video Damo. Hard-hitting and crucial for people to understand. I don't even want to think about how many vulnerable people have lost and will lose money on schemes like those you mention here. Happy new year, lad!
Happy new year to you aswell mate!! Thank you so much for watching and getting involved in the chat. Sad thing is new investor think ground breaking equals sure thing, when in reality it’s often the boring stuff that makes the money
Honestly some of the thumbnails i see ‘I found the next poo coin’ make me shudder, even if the content is balanced and or critical of the coin in question, leading with that is not right.
My take on Meta is simple It’s a product to rake in the Mug Money. VR head set’s will probably go the same way as 3D tv. To be fully immersive would require space to run around and some contraption that stops you from injuring yourself, not all homes will have the space for such setups let alone having one in your living room when you’re not using it.
Yeah I tend to agree with you here in a lot of ways. The tech still seems in its infancy and the practicality of delivering a ‘ready player 1’ experience seems a long way off.
VR headset won't disappear but they are impractical for most homes. Most families barely tolerate their love ones playing consoles in the living room and usually only when the rest of the family is doing something else. Unfortunately for a lot of house holds this is the only space big enough to do VR in a practical way. VR will be use to bring back Arcades but not arcades of the 80s but instead venues that offer up a VR experience an then a meal and some drinks afterwards. Something different to just sitting in a restaurant. We may see companies create a version of star trek holodecks. So ware houses that can be configure internally to match a game level. So in game you climbing a wall, you are actually doing that in the physical world. VR will be use for business meetings, product demonstrations, and countless other professional settings. So there a huge market, tens of billions to be made, it just not for the home gaming market.
@@DavidKnowles0 2 things 1) VR headsets will not stand the test of time technology will make them obsolete more likely is high performance contact lenses or glasses will be more acceptable to normal people then wear a ridiculous headset. 2) virtual meetings give me a break yes we do that already out of necessity. But management will always look for opportunities to travel and get food and drink on expenses. You can’t get past human nature.
You've become one of my favourite Finance/Investment RU-vidrs, Damien! I've been watching you since you had like 4.1K subscribers and the progress you're making with your videos is incredible! I can't wait to see you become one of the top channels globally - because you absolutely will.
These videos are truly gems. As a young adult, there are a lot of things I don’t know about the wold. However, thanks to you, I slowly learn new things.
Nice one Damien, best video I’ve seen of yours yet. Spot on I think. I did well last year, but now is definitely the time to go traditional and look for quality dividend payers. This is going to be ugly.
Great stuff. You're spot on about the Meta-whatsit. I backed the original Oculus headset on Kickstarter but it turned out to be a bit of a dud. I've tried a few newer ones and they don't do anything for me. Apart from the motion sickness, it's just no fun to be surrounded by cool stuff but not be able to touch it or interact with it in an intuitive way. The idea of people hanging out in virtual environments is just really sad, real life is so much more interesting. Bah, kids of today, etc. PS -- the new attic is waaaay better than the old one.
The reason I invest in Arrival Spac is because I like the ideas behind it. It isn't another Tesla but I think it will do well. An even if it doesn't become a auto company, I think it manufacturing technology and ideas behind the company is general interesting, an I could see them springing that off to. We already see them showing off that they can use this technology for one off product.
During my Christmas break though quite a lot about exact topic you have covered. It seems that investing in assets which survived decades and centuries is now boring as you need to read, reseach and even sometimes understand what you buying into. To the moon armies are popping left, right and centre not considering any repercussions. Love the content as always my man.
Exactly this Marcin! There seems to be this notion that the old ways are dead and pointless I think they will price once again that the established ways of investing are the best
WoW, just discovered you mate, that’s THE single best video I’ve seen- absolutely spot on 🍺 started investing 2yrs ago and hold Tesla long, but Jesus I’ve a lot to learn, thanks for the insight much appreciated 🙏
Thanks so much for being the voice of reason Damian. This is superb video - what you say about certain NFT’s and the Metaverse makes perfect sense (as you always do!) Fantastic content 👏👏
Thanks James glad to see you agree with me on these points and hopefully the video will make some people consider what they are actually buying into before they do throw a load of money at the next bit of hype
Glad your back, congratulations on moving. I personally have been bag holding a few cryptos for fun in total about 120 pound but over a year i dont see that as investments but gambling like you said. Still have my vanguard and money box account thanks to you! Heres to a lucky 2022!
Nice video Damo, good stuff and best of luck with the new house. Just a quick one on crypto, I know you hold some, are they assets you’d consider holding for a long time? (5+ years). Cheers. And happy new year.
@@DamienTalksMoney Right! I no longer live in my team's city so barely ever go to the matches, how can they expect me just to follow live text occasionally?!
Great video, love when people like you call out the bullshit and look behind the curtain. When there's hype about something, and you get bombarded every day with the same story, then it means someone's trying to sell you something, and it's time to gtfo :)
GTFO indeed!! Just blows my mind that no one cares about meta. Facebook try to pivot the business and the whole world thinks everything is now different
Thanks a lot for this Damien. I'm a Financial Adviser and I'm amazed (but also incredibly worried) at the number of people who wants to 'invest' in cryptocurrency. It seems glaringly obvious to me that they are suffering from the classic 'investment FOMO' where another friend or a colleague made a quick buck and they want to be involved. Warren Buffett defined speculation as "buying something in the hope that it's going to go up in price"...I think this phrase is becoming all too relevant today.
@@DamienTalksMoney I did! I spent hours in it. Did you recall the Linden date exchange with the USD base on company's market stock price used to play in it. It's still active? 🤔
@@DamienTalksMoney straight talk is nice, what you were talking about with crypto and the meta. I have been watching your videos for a while, probably the first time I have commented. Thank you and happy new year. If you need help with your lawn, that's where I come in haha!
@@Premier_lawns_official well I am glad you took the time to comment and that you enjoyed the straight talking, it can be scary to go against the grain sometimes but I think a lot of people think these things and feel underrepresented on the platform as the tendency is to lean into the sensational and new as it gets clicks. Mate I really could do with some lawn tips! Mine is a mossy hell whole
@@DamienTalksMoney It doesn't seem to be doing you too much harm as your channel is growing nicely. Great to see as you obviously put a lot of work into your videos. The moss thing... All the info you could ever need is on the Premier lawns channel haha ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BkaFtPRs-Ww.html
New Year, New House, New Video! This video was fresh Damo. Dr Strange and Spock are there too😉😉 I just have started with Vanguard and that will do at the moment. Happy New Year Bud. 🍾🥂
Damien, loving the content mate! been binging it over the last few days. KILLER. and congrats on the 50k subs! I have a question about 'rainy day' funds. is it better to keep some money saved in a bank account (with minimal interest and rising inflation, but sheltered from risk), or dump everything into an S&S ISA buying index tracker/ETF funds? Or I guess what I'm asking is how do you calculate risk and move money accordingly?
Hello mate! Thank you so much for watching the content! So the emergency funds are not there to grow or as an investment they are there to cover you if SH*T hits the fan and to stop you from needing to sell your investments to pay for it.. My funds are being eaten by inflation also but i do not care ( i do also have a bit of cash in a stable coin that i stake to offset this but i will cover that in an up and coming blockfi video)
As to coins, I limit myself a £5 quid £5 quid there. No risks to myself, an hopefully one them may turn into a few hundred quid, or disappear with the developer living the high life in Barbados. I still kick myself for not getting that bloody bitcoin code to work on my PC 2011, when running it on a normal PC for a few days could produce 10s if not hundreds of coins for the costs of my mum electricity, so um free to me.
GME and the likes of the other meme stocks are not something I have every got involved with. I don’t like investments where by the value of the share price bares no relation to the value of the business. That being said, a lot of people have made a lot of money with them, but I am not sure holding out for short squeezes on the likes of AMC say is the best thing to be doing
There should be a long stop date in the contract that if they don’t build the property by that date you are entitled to ask for your money back. Main thing is speak to your solicitor, if you are using one the developer recommended to you, go get one that is independent as they may be bias to the developer.
Congrats on moving into your new house. Me and Alex going to see a house on Saturday so fingers crossed its good enough to put a bid on. By the way have you been playing coin hunt world? If you have just curious what you thought of it. I started playing last month, I know I can't take it out yet but for a free game I don't mind waiting for biteeu to get on it. Maybe f I try buying a house on meta verse I might be already moved in lol
So you this is regulation in the NYE or any stocks exchanges? As Robinhood if that's the case or any other hedge funds manipulating the market. I'm CBDC really have you best interest in heart
I can totally see digital space being worth something - advertising is going to jump on that for any of the gazillion projects. But the hundreds of thousands per "cubic meter" (which is what in digital space?) or whatever, is insane. If someone like Coke aren't doing some kind of brand deal with Epic for Fortnite, I'd be amazed. At which point Epic just has to go: "We have assets A, B, and C at locations A, B, C, at these resolutions. Here's a list of prices."
I agree 100% with this. The digital space will have value. Your Epic example is an interesting one and demonstrates my point. Fortnite is a proven meta verse with a lot of traffic making it attractive to advertisers. These new projects selling digital land in unproven metas with zero traffic beyond those looking to profit from the land would not in my opinion be attractive to advertisers. The foot fall needs to be there for Coke to show up.
Ok so if I understand this.... Crypto currency is not a long term investment... its more of a gamble or "short term investiment" which is how I see it.
Chamath is such a snake.......everything he says simply services his own agenda. He is so cringe! Great video though! Honest financial advice as always!
Yeah I fell for his BS for a while I must admit. But he very much peddles his agenda and pretends to be a man of the people. He has launched more SPACs than anyone
AR is where the real money going to be made, when the glasses costs no more than £50. An is a optional extra for people who wear glasses it will take off. AI video recognition is perfected to point where AI can understand the world around you and keep you inform of the information you need to know when you need to know it, it will take off. I believe we are about 5 years away from that working perfectly in a control environment like a hospital, where they will become standards for doctors and nurses. VR will be great but for the majority they will be confine to a night out at the arcades where you have a dedicated space to move and run about. They could be use to greatly enhance Escape rooms and theme park rides. Now if I won the lottery I would invest in such facilities, attached to a game studio so it could produce unique content for the location but I'm not and don't have the contacts or influence to raise that kind of cash.
@@DamienTalksMoney Make it happen! An show us how to all do it. It would make a great tutorial video and be more legitimate that anything else. If I get next week off, everyone sick at my work place so I got a feeling they are going try an cancel my holiday, apart from finally getting some content on my blog, I might actually get around to seeing how to make a NFT and sale some, if there any buyers.
Someone once said to me - the thing with all these get rich quick schemes is you pay real money for something that’s not been proved with any value yet ! Anyone else think a crash is coming ? IPOs we’re biggest ever last year
A lot of the activity like IPOs and spacs always seem to peak just before a crash and they have been going wild recently, but I never like to call a crash. Markets can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent.
Digital land owner!!!!!!! what the actually fuck? I prefer to buy a deed for a plot on the moon. At least it exists and equally as useful. Is that still a thing?
