Don't usually comment ,BUT, I really REALLY resonated with Ash and Dave's talk about friends and connections. Even as someone who is quite confident, I always have that nervous butterfly feeling when meeting a really good friend and I also feel like when talking to friends or meeting new people, I feel the need to prove something to not be 'Boring'. So, just like Dave, I think I will also be playing more co-op games to keep close connections, as I normally stick to single player experiences. Sorry to ramble, but I really appreciated it! Happy new year to you all!
Ben deserve a Personality of the Year Award for 2023. He was absolutely amazing all year and the Xmas Maze really capped it off in style. What an absolute legend.
I’ve said it a few times now but I especially loved this year’s Christmas Maze! So many standout moments from Benjamin M Starr and Robert Sport Pearson, to Rosie simply bossing anything thrown at her (Resi, Lies of P, the laser maze and more) and Ash and Dave’s hilarious adventures in window smashing! Thanks for all the laughs not just at Christmas but all year round ❤ :) Edit* The battering ram scene has just come back to me! It’s Grond! 😂
This year's Christmas Maze was amazing. My wife and I have watched every Christmas Maze together since they started. My gaming resolution is to continue focusing on my backlog. I constantly get new games and never play them, and my gaming time is limited since my daughter was born last year. My big goals this year are to finish The Witcher 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Horizon Forbidden West. Thank you all for everything you do.
I can't believe Dave talked about the Meiji restoration. There's a couple really good English language books about Sakamoto Ryoma. One is called Sakamoto Ryoma and the Meiji Restoration. That one is pretty academic though. "Ryoma a Renesance Samurai" is much more accessible for people not familiar with the story already.
My highlight episode was episode 9 of the Christmas maze. For the obvious reason of the guest appearance, but also because it was Dave and Rob playing hitman. The platimonday of Rob completing Hitman 3 in Dartmoor is one of my all time episodes.
After having covid the first week of the new year, this channel has kept me sane in isolation. The amazing Christmas maze series, the live streams and this podcast. Thank you all so much! So happy to be part of the #podsquad! Happy new year! Ps, new years resolution will be to jump into the yakuza series for the first time!!!
Loved this years Christmas Maze! I was smiling from ear to ear throughout the multiverse episodes especially because of the sheer shock! Thank you for all the laughs and Happy New Year!
Thank you guys for always being amazing people I loved watching you guys and always enjoy all your streams. You guys have helped me through some tough times as I adjust to my new lifestyle. I am legally blind but I was not letting that hold me down. My gaming resolution this year is to acquire more platniums as of last year I added 7 new platinum and faced my fear of Horror games and beat and platinum both dead space remake and RE4 Remake. I am excited for new games and listen to you guys on the podcast and streams. I love your Christmas maze it is always a blast watching you guys while spending time with my big sis something we have enjoyed doing for years now.
#vodsquad I just wanted to say christmas Maze this year had me laughing so much i had tears! You guys are legends! I also wanted to say loincloth Rob would be proud of me, i obtained 100% platinum in Skyrim again (both PS4 and PS5) over the holiday break. The grind was real but worth it! Here's to a great 2024!
The New Year's tradition in our province here in the Philippines is to have a pile of round fruits on the table on New Year's eve. More fruits mean better luck. Other traditions include putting coins in your pocket and bouncing them up and down at midnight and telling children to jump as high as they can repeatedly to grow taller. I don't know if any of these significantly affect wealth or genes, but I did the jumping thing every year and I grew up to be taller than my parents 😆
I really resonate with Dave's attitude to Star Wars, thanks for that! I hope Outlaws is great. Jedi and the wider fate of the galaxy are great and make for good blockbusters, but I love having the opportunity to explore the more ordinary aspects of just getting by in a fantastical, alien galaxy.
Do wish there were more good online coop modes. My other half isn’t interested or any of my local friends so couch coop is usually out, but have had a blast with things like Uncharted 2-4 coop, Resogun, Divinity 2, Remnant.
One game I never thought I'd love playing Coop (and one for Dave) is Sniper Elite 5. Just a cool way to play the campaign with someone else, snipe some dudes and cover each other's backs at your own pace. Works really well!
I just want to say that after four years on and off, I've finally beat the Capra demon in Dark Souls. Your Noob series has been so enjoyable that it gave me the spirit to try again. Now I'm fighting poop monsters as my reward 😂
I'm looking forward to Persona 3 Reload, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and Trails through Daybreak the most. Also, 33:52 - The battering ram's called Grond.
I think my New Year’s resolution is to spend more time playing games, I have a tendency constantly restart games so this I will try and spend my time actually enjoying the game because by time you get to the end it doesn’t matter what you did at the start.
In Germany there IS actually a filled donut AND it's a traditional new year's food as well: the batter is made the same way as donuts are and you fill it with marmalade, chocolate, Advocaat or other fillings. Very tasty. They're called Berliner. But in Berlin they're called Pfannkuchen. 😃😋
#podsquad I don't go to the cinema often, in fact I can't remember the last time I went. But I remember going for each of the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter films. The true epics of fantasy/sci-fi deserve that cinema experience. Plus they do the best popcorn. I think I stopped going because of the expense, and the fact that you often don't have to wait too long for a movie to appear on streaming services. But it is something I'd like to get back to doing for the right films.
I am surprised Ash didnt mention Silent Hill 2 remake alongside her most anticipated games for 2024. For me though this year seems a little dry, Wolverine was the game for this year i was hyped for but it seems likely to be 2025, i am excited to check out Rise of the Ronan and and Dragons Dogma 2 and a few others but for me there is no "Spiderman 2/Alan Wake 2" type of mega hype game im excited for, hoping we get some surprise announcements, 2023 did spoil us though with so many bangers.
I share the second opinion on games for the new year. Like a dragon infinite wealth and ff7 rebirth are 2 games I apsolutely hoped to here someone talk about. Those were my 2 favorite games of all time pretty much. Top 5 easily.
I was eating a round food right as Ash mentioned the round foods things! It was a water chestnut slice within the bamboo shoot, water chestnut and garlic with fried soft noodles from the local chinese! It was delicious too - crunchy and juicy at the same time.
#podsquad Hello PlayStation Access. Long time watcher, first time commenting. I write haling from Malaysia! The talks of durians had me drooling for the king of fruits! It is indeed a delicacy here in Malaysia. Come by, let us show you what we make with that kingly fruit! We know, it has a pungent smell. We encourage all of you to try.
Definitely agree excited for Star Wars and ff7 rebirth. I’ve only just dipped my toe into the Yakuza world as played judgement last year but never sure where to start !!
A game with a rewarding new experience? Hollow Knight, back playing it again after giving up at the city of tears. Back in it now at the Colosseum of Fools. It’s hard, almost brutal In areas but definitely worth sticking to it
2023 ended with some sour personal stuff for me. A new group I tried to be a part of didn’t work out and I might have lost the person who introduced me…they basically stopped communication and it’s been rough. The Christmas maze was something I looked forward to every day and it was the highlight of the year for me. Thank you all for the work and laughs. My gaming goals involve more platinums and getting to 150 (which will be God of War Ragnarok) and to try and find that game/non game balance better. I started at the end of last year and after Jan (I gave myself a platinum challenge so that’s gonna be that) and I hope 2024 will be less drama filled and more mental peace.
since the only confirmed Playstation Studio game is Conacord and we don't even know what that exactly will be... idk after FFVIIR the year is kinda empty.
Whilst I had gotten so much better with people in the last decade because dealing with personalities is my job, I too echo Ash's sentiments about the difficulty with making meaningful connections. I'm still guarded to this day, and whilst it can be viewed as disingenuous, I have become so good with the theatricality of making friends that I sometimes scare myself when I turn it on like a switch in social settings. Like a sociopathic behaviour lmao.
@donovancatuncan5481 I don't think it's an entirely bad thing. Helps give you a more flexible, impartial perspective. It is difficult, though. Probably more common than we think these days.
I'm very much younger ash. Probably due to social anxiety. Don't have friends. Don't even talk to people I've known since I was a kid I went to all 4 schools with
@nickyconnolly1380 oh I've been good..mostly cause the pandemic and working from home means I don't see people lol. But with a couple exceptions thst wont happen, I have no desire to talk to anyone from my past anyway
#podsquad Hey guys! A massive merry 2024 to you all! This is a quick soppy emo message to say thank you for all you do. My son has ASD and is learning to develop sharing and communication skills with me by playing co-op games together whilst listening to your channel (we’re currently suffering and struggling our way through It Takes Two). You make every play-through, podcast, and video feel human and relatable and I can’t tell you how much that means to my son and me. We’re all game nerds here and, as Rob would love to hear, we’re all ‘learning.’ Aaaanyway, on a more serious note; if you could own one character/creature from video games to love and cherish as a pet, what would it be and why? Thank you, from Harry and little Arthur
I couldn't think of 2024 games but now thanks to you I've several grasping at my wallet. The AitD remake looks mixed. They largely captured the atmosphere of the original, but they're putting in lazy "modern horror game" tricks with the sketchy lights and fleshy creatures. I think that takes away from it.
