1985 was the best summer: Goonies, back to the future, weird science, Rambo part 2, pee wee big adventure, fletch, national lampoon vacation, fright night, better off dead, teen wolf, st Elmo’s fire 😅

The trouble with summer blockbusters is that they'd appear in the UK either around Christmas or even the following year.
@MoviesNeverSayDie

That's interesting, here in the states all the serious awards contenders fill theaters, it would be a nice change of pace to have a few popcorn movies in the winter season. Thanks for watching!

The 80s was a golden era when we could rely on movies to have mostly their own memorable soundtracks even if some songs aren’t from the movie. Also Hollywood making movies with characters from the movies such as 48 Hours, Indiana Jones trilogy, Beverly Hills Cop, Raw Deal, The Terminator, Robocop, Predator, Commando, Aliens, etc.
@MoviesNeverSayDie
@MoviesNeverSayDie Месяц назад
Cinema was certainly riding high in the 80s! So many classics!
@jasoncase9481
@jasoncase9481 Месяц назад
@@MoviesNeverSayDie Which is why the 80s will always be the excellent era for movies because movies having original soundtracks was common, now in the 2000s it’s less common for movies to have their own original soundtracks likely because it’s just easy to be lazy and uncreative by using existing songs instead of putting effort into making original songs for a movie soundtrack.

HOW did they make the original Top Gun for "only" $15M? That really is astounding. I think the Navy "donated" their planes for the most part, and that made the movie work. Otherwise that movie should've cost well in the 30M range...
@MoviesNeverSayDie
@MoviesNeverSayDie 2 месяца назад
I know right $15M is impressive. I've heard stories that the film crew piggy backed on some Naval exercises out at sea and did their own filming in the background. I can't remember where I heard this but Tony Scott wanted them to turn the carrier around so the sunset would be on the opposite side of the shot, the Navy refused to float the bill for the time and fuel so Scott ponied up like $25-30K for them to make a quick u-turn to get the shot in.

This wasn't a blockbuster of the 80's but still was a fun cinematic ride from that time (more obscure) and it was called The Wraith from 1986 with Charlie Sheen. Have you seen it? It's really similar to 1994's The Crow.

I never really understood why Robocop was criticized as a ripoff of The Terminator because in Robocop a murdered Detroit police officer gets resurrected as the Cyborg known as Robocop to create order in a rundown Detroit that takes place in a Dystopian movie universe where OCP privatized the Detroit police, and it mostly runs the world. In Terminator a cybernetic organism that is the T-800 which resembles a man is sent back to the past to kill Sarah Connor so that the Terminators will be victorious in the future since John Connor the savior of humanity can’t be born.
@MoviesNeverSayDie

something weird is going on with your sound (specifically your vocal track). It sounds like an overcompressed "pumping"...or overlimiting (or it could be some sort of "autoducking" related to your backing music track interacting with your voice track). Maybe you'll want to check on that...?

48 Hours got released in the 1980s. A very not PC action movie set in San Francisco, also it’s a bromance cop action movie released before Lethal Weapon.

@@MoviesNeverSayDie It’s a great not PC action movie that couldn’t get made today with repeated use of that awful N word which Reggie also uses pridefully in 1 scene, other racist aspects, etc. While The Departed does have a character using the N word it’s for 1 scene, and fits the context of the interview scene.

@@jasoncase9481There's the scene where Nolte apologized and why he used them but Murphy says "that doesn't explain everything." Classic Nolte "yeah..."

@@FleetwoodTheProfit He’s likely frustrated that the relationship with the bartender is only for physical pleasure. The Police Captain being angry and a big black man calling Reggie the N word during the lees recapped how they failed to capture 2 dangerous murderers is priceless mainly because it’s outside the box instead of just a dime a dozen it’s a white character calling a black character the N word.

You keep having this weird sound issue where the volume seems to be fluctuating when you speak (Also in the 90's top 100). I'm using a mono JBL speaker. Maybe you have phase problems between L&R. I don't know, but it's really annoying, and makes it also impossible to enjoy the video.
@MoviesNeverSayDie
@MoviesNeverSayDie 2 месяца назад
Thanks for the feedback. I've noticed this as well and spent time going through settings. Also spoke to someone more fluent in audio and was told I need to place the mic closer and dial the volume down slightly. Hopefully this will fix the issue.
@scienceofmusic51
@scienceofmusic51 2 месяца назад
@@MoviesNeverSayDie I'm a sound engineer and that doesn't sound right to me. I don't know what you're using but i've never heard a mic do this. Maybe you're using a USB condenser on a connection that doesn't offer enough power, or editing with a compressor that is set strangely, or any stereo effect that introduces phase problems. I don't know, but i think placing the mic closer wouldn't fix this.

I researched these mics and found you need to keep at least a fist distance from mouth when talking. I adjusting the processing and gain and did test recordings and I think I solved the problem. The audio levels on the test recordings sound clean and even throughout. I appreciate your feedback with this, audio is a HUGE weak spot for me.
