Thank you Tanner. For physical aches / pains etc., I don’t tend to ‘avoid’ but would you say this is the same with fatigue? Not to avoid social outings etc for example ? My fatigue sensations manifest as head heaviness and blurry vision. ( always there to different degrees ) and I find that more difficult than the aches / pains when out and about

I have been trying flare ups, and am still terrified of certain foods (interstitial cystitis) I haven't had an orange in over four years because citrus is a common flare, used to be one of my favorite fruits. going to eat a small piece tomorrow.

Hi Tanner, thank you for a very well timed video. I've been doing the emotional work, and cognitive work, as well as somatic tracking and meditation for over a year and a half with little to no improvement. I think the missing piece is that I need to slowly and gradually increase my physical activity. I thought that I could do the other work first and then I would be able to increase my physical activity. Which clearly doesn't work. This is exactly what I needed to hear this morning! Thanks! Jim

But what if your chronic pain is from actual damage? How do we get past that?
@cdracos1
@cdracos1 Месяц назад
Question is , do you believe and accept that your body heals physical damage, like it has always done in the past. You can't move to any further stage without accepting your physical body has healed and understand that chronic pain is an electrical signal sent up and down the nervous system by the brain.. Your doctors unfortunately are only trained in finding physical reasons or very often assumptions ! . My dad used to be 6ft, he's now 5.5ft, a doctor with MRI evidence would see his entire spine has degenerated in his old age with virtually no more disc spacing left. His spinal bones would therefore be crushing down on his nerves. HE HAS NO PAIN.. Ever heard of leg amputees who feel no pain at the severed stump but their foot , that doesn't exist hurts !. Brain signals !.

Often pain at least is a mix of structural and neuroplastic, and the strategies on my channel could then be potentially helpful.

I know this is a few weeks old, but if anyone can weigh in I’m wondering. I’ve tried to approach walking again. After 50 steps or so I sometimes feel a shift in lower back, and that’s been a sign a flare is coming the next day, sometimes really bad & lasting for days. Is it wise to try and walk during intense pain or let it settle. I’ve been too afraid to approach walking now because this has happened several times.

Yes, graded exposure can be difficult and even when done right can trigger pain. Starting small is needed. Also working with a practitioner can be helpful.

Great words. In my accute post injury phase, I was in a "small" week, missing work, and fearful. I started binging Tanner's somatic tracking vids, Pain PT's channel, and listening to Nicole Sachs. There is a balance of too much, but I remember peace and sleep coming during a Tanner somatic tracking video. My world continues to expand, and a month ago I feared having to skip a work conference, which I am not skipping. I'm glad I am living in a post-Sarno, neuropasticity-embracing, somatic tracking age. May we together bankrupt the medical industrial complex forcing unnecessary, unsuccessful surgeries on unwitting victims!

Tanner I know you are right and I hate that you are right. I have done everything else and there are still come things that just overwhelm me. If you have huge amount of conditioned responses, do we tackle one thing at a time and master it or do you do a little bit of everything all the time? For example if you need to change shoes get into a new car sleeping in a new bed eat different foods travel without 5000 suitcases do some work, do you just take one item and work on it or do you approach all of them slowly? I found this area so confusing and I feel like I need a lot of one-to-one help for this… thanks 🙏

I actually have a detailed video on conditioned responses coming in the next few weeks. Generally I didn't focus on breaking all my conditioned responses at once, and focused on a few at a time.

Hi Tanner thankyou so much for this video 🙏🙌 question about the avoidance-ive been brain retraining for 1.5 years and come a ling way (from severe floor bound unable to leave the house with cfs to now working 5hrs once or twice a week) i think have condition responses like u mention in this video too. But ive been wondering about working more, like a few days a week. I still often find it really tiring the 5hrs i am doing, and but id love to work more....obviously you dont know my exact situation but do you think working more at this oint would be better than being at home in the same old environment (like its basically saying im ill/not ready if im still at home alot right, like probably being stuck in thoughts a bit much sitting at home) feels really confusing point in recovery where its not helping to be at home alot but then dont know if i can handle working more 😂😅
