What I love about Loeb and Sale collaborations, especially in Marvel, but even DC (Superman For All Seasons), is that they are character studies and particularly about the relationships most relevant to the character in question. This is even true of the more plot driven Batman stories they did, but in all of their collaborations, the exercise is about exploring who the hero is and why. That focus is through the lense of those people they've lost or have otherwise defined the popular perception of the character. These stories are unusual in that way, but refreshing for it.

You guys probably already know this and I apologize if I'm beating a dead horse but the same "chemicals" that gave Matt Murdock his heightened senses also transformed the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The TMNT origin story shows a boy pushing a blind man out of the way of a truck transporting radioactive ooze. The chemicals splash on the boys eyes and pours down into the sewers...... Another great video lady and gentlemen.

First off, great job guys. Really glad you did a Daredevil book. One thing I felt Sal could have spent a little more time on is Karen's fall from grace. For those who don't know, Karen moved out to Los Angeles to become an actress. She couldn't really make a name for herself though, so she wound up doing a few pornographic movies for quick cash. Apparently (obviously in retrospect) there's good money in porn, so she kept doing it. The drugs were a result of her crushed dreams and lost innocence. So it wasn't just like "Screw this crappy Silver Age character that nobody cares about. If I want her to be a drug addict she'll be a drug addict. Silver Age comics were stupid" (Maybe a little more Alan Moore than Frank Miller but you get what I'm saying.) It was actually handled in a way that made Karen really sympathetic and it felt natural (which just made it that much more shocking.) Karen was always portrayed as a very innocent very good-natured very idealistic character, and what else could such a character do in that situation but break down completely?

the owl...there are people in Marvel, in New York even where flying is just one of their powers. But for Daredevil, a fat guy who can fly is like a major villain...i love it

Whoo! Finally doing the book I sent in. I love the color series and just about everything that Loeb and Sale did together, Catwoman: When in Rome, and pretty much all the Batman work. :] Also, I'd be the Foggy to Ben's Matt in that Black and White book of pining for Black Cat.

somebody probably already commented (i didn't see any when I checked) that the gloves for the suit were his dad's undergloves for his boxing gloves, and the actual suit itself is made from his dad's boxing robe. he also spends two days sewing it himself. so he has mad sewing skills to just cut the robe apart and to sew it into a suit but he also managed to follow a color scheme and cut out a perfect capital D. (either that or he had a huge robe)

A new episode of Back Issues is always the perfect way to start off the morning. Awesome job guys! I wish Sal had mentioned that when Daredevil bends the bars of the cage to free Karen from the Owl, he gives the very comicsy explanation that he can "sense the weakpoint" of the bars as if every piece of steel has some point at which it can be bent with nothing more than average human strength.

Hey ComicPOP! thanks for doing Daredevil: Yellow, it's one of my favorite books. I thought it was funny that Sal kind of went into Born Again and Guardian Devil at the end as well (save that for more Daredevil Back Issues!!!). I'm sure by now you guys have watched the full season of Daredevil on Netflix, and I hope that you consider doing a spoiler heavy discussion of the show because I would love to know what you all thought!

What was your reaction when you realized that Owlsly (the Owl) was on the Daredevil show? Did you put two and two together and realize that the accountant was the Owl? (pre-powers/surgeries though)

Ben with the quick wave to the annotations on screen now. Sal is proud, you're the Nightwing to his Batman, that means that Ethan is Red Robin, Tiffany is Barbara( don't worry Sal, Bruce had a little thing with her in the animated universe ;P) and Danielle is Batwoman since she's rarely seen yet still somewhat considered apart of the family, and Sal is obviously Alfred... I mean Bruce ._. All jokes aside this is one of my favorite episodes, it was so funny and informative (as always really). Btw, themes with Foggy and Karen will be explored in coming episodes of the show, all I'm gonna say ;D

Great episode. Loved the Daredevil show on Netflix and after I watched it I found out Jeph Loeb had a hand in it and went out and got Daredevil Yellow and read it. It was a great fun story. I originally thought that the show was based on some of the Daredevil stuff Frank Miller wrote like The Man Without Fear but after reading Yellow and re-reading The Man Without Fear and see they took elements from both stories and put them into the show. Also if Matt did sew his first yellow and red costume from his dad's boxing robe do ya think someone saw him and said "hey are you blind? your costumes ridiculous looking with the red and yellow, if ya want to be stealthy and stuff just go with dark red." And he went and got a non blind person, prob Peter Parker or someone to make him the red costume.

This was my first and only Daredevil comic until recently. I really didn't like Yellow, it was a huge disappointment, considering Long Halloween is one of my favorite comics. But I recently read Frank Miller's Born Again, which blew me away. Going to be reading more Daredevil!

I just wanna say that this series has converted me into a comic book reader. I have always been a fan of comic book characters I just never read them. Then one I was browsing youtube and found your Superior spiderman video that I decided I need to read these books. I'am reading amazing spidey (playing catch up) Deadpool(playing catch up too im going to be doing this awhile i feel) All New Xmen, Wolverine and the Xmen, The uncanny XMen, (I really like crazy terrorist cyclops). I just wanted to say thanks for giving the extra push. P.s I haven't watched this episode only because I now plan to read this (ditto goes for Deadpool kills marvel universe). P.P.S. I know you dont really read Xmen but could you go over Xmen battle of the atom ?

OK so this was a really fun ep. So many good reactions. The best has to be at the end, with Tiffany's jaw drop going, "Oh my god". To Ben's, "Are you fucking kidding me?" And Sal's, (looks at both)"..........Yup........." P.S. Ben I know your pain man. I've been loving me some Black Cat for years.

Ooooo phylosophy so then is caution created out of fear? Cuz I was gonna say yellow for caution (gray for gray matter but I guess gray area makes more sense n can't argue blue is obvious) but the question about caution as daredevil (despite the name has restraint from killing which only batman rivals) but is it fear that causes people humanity to have caution ? Or is it wisdom? Hmm this is a hard question once u really think about it. We have yellow lights mean slow down take caution cuz something people all fear (death & injury etc) is that the motivation for it? And the debate starts really interested in having an intelligent discussion about it

I got Tim Sale to sign these a few years back, actually. I was at KC Comicon, I didn't know anything about comics, there was this guest artist there, and I was asking people, "What should I buy for this guy to sign?" And the answer I got was Daredevil Yellow.

I wanted Karen to get with Foggy so bad. I've never read a Daredevil comic, so I didn't know that she was supposed to be with Matt. But in the show, if you don't know that Matt Murdock is Daredevil, he is super boring compared to Foggy Nelson. Foggy is fun and charming and cute, but sure Matt Murdock has a six pack so everybody loses their shit over him. Stupid.

its not longer funny, i really should watch something else. but nothing entertains me like back issues, even when i've seen them multiple times. I did watch The Lighthouse by the guy who did the VVitch and it's amazing, that's the first movie to get me noggin' going in awhile. its you and the rlm crew for this guy. WHY'D YE SPILL YER BEANS
