I dont think these made it to Yorkshire; at least, I don't remember them and as we all know it is each mans own personal experience which defines an entire geographical area in a set period of history, probably why my dad voted Brexit and now we sit in different rooms at Christmas for fear of drowning each other in sage n onion stuffing! Anyway I digress... these do look delicious but I was wondering if you could work your culinary magic and try replicate the long lost but NEVER forgotten Maverick bar? It was even made famous in an episode of The League of Gentlemen, one of the greatest British comedies ever! But did Nestle care? Did they 'eck. Then again, Nestle aren't exactly a company known for their caring and gentle nature are they eh?
I absolutely love nearly recipe I have tried from your channel mate. But this is my childhood reborn👏 Will definitely try this next week when I have more time. Thanks for the excellent videos👌
Hi thànk you it brings memories when I was in my 40's age.Now in my 70's but can't have sugar etc.diabetes🙃😩wish I can make with sweetners.will try . Love from Cape Town, South Africa
You're providing a public service right there mate! I heard this week the Drifter, which was my go to chocolate growing up has also been scrapped. So if you fancy giving it a go? #JustSayin
I've never had an Abbey Crunch, but these look wonderfully dunkable. I really appreciate a) no egg, because I can't eat them and b) the recipe makes a manageable batch, meaning I don't need to drag out the stand mixer right now. Question: living in the US and being unable to emigrate at this time, if I blitzed granulated sugar in a high-speed blender, would the texture be close enough to caster sugar for this recipe? US grocers do not know what caster sugar is, and I haven't seen it at my local Indian market. Thanks.
Funnily enough I blitzed ordinary sugar in my food processor to make caster sugar for this video. Very easy and saves money as caster sugar in Europe is twice the price
@@hablin1 Thanks! At one time we were able to buy "superfine" sugar at some grocery store chains, but I haven't seen it in many years. I've blitzed up sugar before and yes, you will end up with powder if you're not careful!
@@TheTeessideChef Thanks, Chef! Regular granulated sugar has become increasingly dear here. I'm thinking about putting in a grove of sugar cane in the backyard and setting up a still. Federal authorities would probably raid, thinking I was brewing something else. Maybe if I offered them freshly baked cookies made with my own sugar they would let me off.
I wrote to him asking if I could work on an ice cream van. He said he couldn't do that but he could fix it for me to suck a banana blindfolded. Never made it to air though😐
