I’m from the U.K., but I have a lot of family in Burlington and Hamilton, I visited when I was younger and absolutely loved it, Canadians are so friendly and kind, Canada will always hold a special place in my heart
Don't remember that level of excitement lol, I do remember the case for sure, but then I was in Brantford so a city or two over... people definitely knew what was up, it caused a lot of discussion around such advertising sellers
northpappyflappy Yeah, she shouldn’t had said to go with them Incase they steal it. It’s always risky when you do transactions with people online. It’s better to let them go at a test drive alone or take a gun Incase
@@davidimrie6916 I think you are being unfair. She did love her husband, but i have told my wife that if I die, she is free to remarry. I want her happy. Im sure Tim did too.
@@GaslightingIsEvil she didn’t mean that they killed him over the truck, she’s upset because it was something that if he didn’t go to buy the truck he would of still been here, and probably the fact that trucks are listed for sale all the time. She’s upset that out of all the listed trucks, he ended up going to see the one who would end up being a trap to murder someone so senselessly. If they had clicked on any other listing, he would still be here.
It hit me so hard I actually got choked up and I’m not the type to be emotional watching these. Something so inconsequential that ended a life before he even got to experience.. Really tugs at the heart strings.
Saddest part is the wife begging for her husband back. I don’t think anyone has any idea how that really feels. To see the one person you love and care for disappeared. Every time I hear her say “it’s just a truck” makes my heart break and I cry. Truly the saddest thing anyone can ever go through. God bless her heart and soul for his daughter too.
What’s (extra) insane to me, is all of that happened BEFORE the other 2 murder trials happened... already had a life sentence, then got a second, and he STILL tried to deny the third? I guess the idiot thought he had a chance of appeal 🙄
This story breaks my heart. They didn't even want the truck - they just wanted to murder a good man. I hope neither of them has a good night's sleep as long as they live - and I hope they both live a very, very long and miserable time.
Follow your gut feeling... People don't come to look at things when it's dark out, if you feel weird then stop immediately. Don't feel guilty, don't apologise, just survive
I was gonna hookup with this girl and smoke until I pulled up to her house in a familiar neighborhood I've lived in all my life and got a weird gut feeling. Never know if anything would've happened but I dont ignore my gut
Dellens farm was 10 minutes away from my home. I remember all of Ontario being on alert for Tim. I would look obsessively for his truck in hopes to spot him. Everyone was so upset at the outcome. Such a senseless tragedy. RIP Tim Bosma 🙏💔
I wish Tim's wife and child get at least some money from Dellen's family so they can survive. My heart brakes for them. They are just a little family trying to survive with a good way.
Mike I’m 70 and lots and lots of these stories I’ve heard of. But I love how u tell a story I never listen to books or anything like that. But I turn on one of your stories and I can crocet forever. Yout talent isn’t easy to come by. Story telling needs much talent to keep the public interested
Miss. Van Helsing oh my gosh you are great. Being 70 and having friends on line is great. I’m all by myself holed up in a 8 by 11 room. This virus has me scared a little. Well really a lot. But thank you hun and bless you and your days
Fragarbai I was at the sentencing for the Laura Babcock murder. They had already been convicted and sentenced to life (25 years before parole) for Bosma and they were sentenced to a second consecutive life sentence (additional 25 years). Now Millard has been convicted and sentenced for the murder of his father too, (another 25 years). Because the sentences are first degree & consecutive, so is the parole - meaning he will not be eligible for parole for 75 years and he will be 102 years old. DONT WORRY GUYS he’s not getting out. (Edited cause I hit send by accident)
V Brt I was confused earlier in the case because they hadn’t gotten to whether these would be consecutive or concurrent... Damn glad it sounds like to going to be conservative 👍...
Man I heard about this case on another channel and they played a longer clip of the wife’s plea to the public ...she went on to say “you don’t need him, but I DO” and I lost it😢😢😢...they are what shit wants to be when it grows up.
I know the story is just horrible. So tragic! BUT at the very beginning when you introduced Dellen & showed the pic of his dad & grandfather at the SAME time as saying his mother’s name, the insert of typed “Not Madeline ↘️” had me laughing so hard, out loud, all alone at my desk. Well done, thanks for the pressure release. 😅
When Charlene made that plea for her husband, it tore me up inside. A young beautiful family destroyed by two people with no respect for life. How horrible! God bless the victims.
My dad always taught me if you’re going to sell a car privately you MUST require they hand over their drivers license to you to make a copy before you let them test drive the car. Just a way to protect yourself from theft, or worse
Just make sure to leave the copy w/ a loved one and not have it on you for the test drive....in other words, don't make the copy w/ the guy and then go immediately for a test drive w/ the copy in hand because the person can just remove it off you before they take off (or if you're not found again, neither will the copy be...). It's a good tip tho. Thanks dad 👍
Keeping the license or getting a copy in the hands of someone else is imperative. Do NOT trust anyone. the only way I'm getting in the car with anyone I don't know is if I've got the barrel of my loaded and cocked sidearm pressed to the back of their neck with one hand and my bag of cannolis in the other,
I'm from Toronto and remember this case so well and discussing it with my coworkers on the trip home on the bus from work the day after Tim went missing. One story you kind of missed out on here was in our local paper The Star later on during the arrest/trial, and it was goosebump inducing. The man who identified the tattoos on Dellen Millard was an intended victim prior to Tim. The story is he also took his truck out for a test drive with these two. The man was Russian and during a short conversation they touched on his past and how he was fully trained to defend himself. When Mark Smich, who was in the back seat asked him where he trained, the Russian man (the seller of the vehicle they were test driving)....replied "the Israeli army". The two of them, Mark and Dellen exchanged a long look and the test drive ended without incident. That man dodged a bullet.
@@zammmerjammer yes, the US takes advantage of being able to lock people up on small crimes for years and years; this way they are able to have the cheapest labor imaginable. The prisoners will work for eight dollars a month or less. Its very close to slave labor.
@@haveabanana2930 Lol people aren’t locked up for “small crimes” for years on end. And what else do you want them to do in prison? They aren’t forced to work - but it’s not like I’m gonna feel bad if they choose to pay some of their debt to society by pumping out some license plates and whatnot for shit pay! They shouldn’t be having a vacation in there, ffs! , the taxpayer pays for their food, shelter, healthcare, etc. And you’re whining that some of them choose to work for cheap to pass the time and make it look good for parole? Bleeding heart Ieftist, aren’t you?
A sensitive commentary thank you! As a Canadian we don’t have the number of horrific crimes, but when we do they are freaking disgusting! I along with many, many Canadians, followed this horrible case! It’s no good to say, well he was a rich kid this happens all too often and in every walk of life! Thank you for doing such a sensitive report on it! Take care and God bless! X
If Toronto police had listened to Laura's ex-boyfriend when he tried to file a missing person's report, Tim would never have met Dellen and Mark. Like so many times before, law enforcement officials were unwilling to investigate the disappearance of a woman who worked as an escort and who had mental health problems throughout her life.
My thoughts exactly, and they did not investigate the father’s ‘suicide’ properly either……just throw in the mental health issue : Depression They took the easy way out, until something obvious happens, in which the community got involved did they finally investigate with gusto. Tim was a happy healthy young man, married with a child.
wupperelfe this is the second time I find that Canadian police is lacking. I watched another video on another channel about a man who was clearly an abuser, had sent one woman to the hospital; served two sentences for domestic violence and yet the parol officer and the cops wanted to give him a chance and allowed him to be near the women he abused. 🙄 They ignored complaints about him and brushed them off because he hadn’t had priors and only served like 10 months in jail when he actually served time for the domestic violence . At the end he killed 3 women in one day including two of his ex that had testified against him before.
@Rebecca Buschhorn The Fifth Estate is a TV program on government owned CBC TV and it is one of the only enjoyable (and non-biased) programs they make. Not going to disagree that our refugee and immigration processes are extremely lenient too say the least and I will full heartedly agree our judicial system has blatant flaws, but you ignore the incomprehensibly vast area that our Royal Canadian Mounted Police are responsible for ( being most rural areas in the second largest country by landmass), and how many cases they have successfully investigated. It's also important to note that some of these RCMP stations, especially as you go further north) are incredibly underfunded and understaffed, Have heard personal anecdotes from Mounties of months long shifts in northern towns where they are only working with 4 colleges in a station. That being said you want LEO's with a bad track record OPP is your department.
This happened in my city and I remember how sad and tragic the story was as it was unfolding. All anyone could say after was, " it was just a truck..". Great job retelling this story Mike. Well done.
I will never forget Tim bosma. This case was so awful and his wife's pleas in the news conference have always stayed with me. I live near Hamilton and this case was huge here.
He incinerated that poor man in Roseville Ontario on property that had previously been owned by my great grandfather. I was shocked when I seen the police searching the barn for further evidence on the news. I was first made aware of Tim Bosma when I met his father in law putting up a missing person poster in a variety store in Princeton Ontario (about 30 min from Ancaster) was very sad.
I was with my ex-boyfriend during this time and Tim was one of his co-workers. The disappearance hit us hard and you just got that sinking feeling something wasn't right...it's so sad and senseless
What a complete waste of oxygen these people are. RIP the victims and I hope the relatives have found a measure of peace since these events. Thanks for another great vid.
Yeah I said before I am a harsh critic of the American criminal justice system but in this case he probably wouldn’t have been around after the “suicide “. Also, they all deserve to never live in society again. I would say that they deserve the death penalty but I think making sure they live an extremely long life but in solitary confinement for the rest of their lives never having contact with anyone else.
@@marquisdelafayette1929 It was in Canada but I absolutely agree they dont need to be in society again! I always felt the same about it's better they get life but they all fight for life in prison over getting death.. on death row they dont even get contact with other prisoners & the cell is much smaller.
I live in Hamilton and absolutely forgot about the death of Tim. Didn’t know him personally but heard from everyone how much of great person he was. Still can’t believe it
I was almost brought to tears from Tim’s wife pleading for the return of her husband. I couldn’t fathom something like this happening to my family. RIP TIM
I was at the sentencing trial for the Laura Babcock murder. Literally feet from the back of their heads. And ya, Mark smirked on his way out of the courtroom. It was crazy.
I've read about this case a lot and this isn't the first time I'm seeing this video either... But every time I hear the wife begging for her husband's life, I choke up ... That poor poor woman.... I cannot imagine what state I'd be in if I were in her place ... What a demonic thing to do to (seemingly nice) random strangers!
I'm from around the area when Tim when missing. It was heartbreaking, everyone wanted to bring him home so badly. It really rattled a lot of people when we learned what had really happened to him. R.I.P Tim, you deserved better
Great recap! I used to live in Toronto when this happened. A lady from the gym I used to go to, actually went on a date with Dellen (he was actually living very close to the gym). Then I went to his trial (the one re: his Dad). I sat down about 40 feet away from him. I wanted to determine if you can see evil when you look at it. The disturbing fact, was that I couldn't. He looked "normal" to me... That was interesting AND scary at the same time.
Man, I love my backpack. I dont care how many people call it a man purse lmao. It's nice to have a phone charger and not have bulging pockets. Some mens bags look pretty cool too. But.. yeah.. not something I'd want on my obituary. Lmao.

9:00, as a confirmed monk who gave up on relationships ages ago it breaks my heart to hear Sharlene talk about her husband like that. If I could have ever had a wife I would have loved to have been with someone who thought of me & spoke of me in that way. They must have had something special. Just heartbreaking.
When going for test drives with strangers, meet at a police station, have all parties sign in, leave the keys of the prospective buyer inside (if they drove to the station), and have all parties sign out.
This!! I hope your comment gets more attention. I’ve also seen it said to have both parties (and anyone else with them) need to leave a copy of their ID with the police station.
@@savitaram3975 While I think this is an excellent suggestion, it's not necessarily a service that your local law enforcement agency would provide. You should Google Warren vs. District of Columbia, if you have any questions about the duty of care owed.
That Chapter Very good. Your videos have really increased in quality. Keep up the good work man, in a couple of years you’ll be the top RU-vid true crime channel.
@cosmosspring He didn't do anything to them, they're gone. And even if their ghost was haunting this comment section, being called an optimist isn't a particularly harsh burn is it? Grow a sense of humor and get a bigger perspective on things, it'll help a lot. Just keep doing you, Mike. You inject the perfect amount of levity into these grim and disturbing cases, please never change that.
In Gavin de Becker's book, "The Gift of Fear", he mentions that's dark humor is often your gut telling you that something is not right. That joke someone made when he got in the truck with those men gave me the chills.
A great book. He also commented that when your dog does not like someone it is because you are picking up bad vibes from the person and the dog senses your feelings.
What some people don't understand is we are designed to be able to hear when someone is lying, or fake crying. People that commit crimes tell on themselves. Love you channel Mike. I've heard a bunch of case files, but you are the best!
Her speech was heartrending. As others have noted, “It’s just a truck” was such an anguished cry from the heart- made me weep. That poor lost girl; the poor Dad; and Tim, who just seems so lovely.. One of the things that makes “That Chapter”, so extraordinary.. Mike’s respect for and honor of, the innocent victims. Fantastic work. And may Poor Lil Rich Boy, burn in hell.
@@communicationbreakdown256 that is actually how I found this channel from a JCS - Criminal Psychology video. Those also make for great deep dives, if you have the time.
This should also be a lesson to those who think it's cool to be friends with a bad kid or a criminal. Someone who's willing to harm others will also be willing to frame you for it.
My daughter walks by while im watching and asks ,daddy what is nineteen ninety tree,😂😂😂😂😂.As an american i love the accent. Im sure we say things u guys smile about😁. Good video.
My theory is that if you can immediately tell the police where you were and what you were doing when they say a time or date, you’re probably lying - unless it was in some way a memorable event. Honestly if someone asked me what I did yesterday I’d have to think about it.
There's no other pain like losing a loved one to murder, especially over something so petty. It absolutely is a life sentence, you're never the same. This poor woman. 😔
Thank you so much *That Chapter!* After Cayleigh Elise retired I was so depressed, seriously. Having you come along with awesome content is the drug that I needed. Your production is spot on too, advanced. Stay who you are! =)
Tons of other news outlets could cover this (or any of your stories) and I still would learn/find more info about these people and these cases through you/your videos. Keep doing you Mike!
My husband fixes and sells cars as a side business and when he goes on test drives he packs so much damn heat I dunno who to be more afraid for. He goes in expecting the worst every time.

So you're saying it's not likely that someone ran into the Guinness' offices shouting " you won't believe what I found! A young man who can fly a helicopter and an airplane..." "So what?" "Wait! Did I mention he can fly them.... On the SAME DAY!?!?" "What!? No way!!!"
If our daddies had been rich enough to pay for the lessons, I do not doubt that most of us could have got our pilot's licenses by that age. "Daddy paid it all - lucky me !". Spoilt scumbag !
this case happened in my hometown, and I remember being terrified until they found the killers of tim, when the trial finally finished and they were found guilty, I cried so hard. this case is what got me into true crime, because it will always hit way harder than anything else
When I was 20, a close friend was raped and bludgeoned to death after being left alone at her inner city rec center job. It’s strange how much it affects you, in so many ways, and I wasn’t even related to her. It’s affected my behavior, how I raise my kids, my faith in humanity in general. When violence like that gets close to you, you’re changed forever, even if you’re just on the edge of it. Luckily, my state has the death penalty, and we killed the monster not very many years later. Slept a little better that night.
I remember this case well. And , I remember how pleased everyone was that justice was served. I'm from Niagara Region, so our big crime that hit everyone was Bernardo and Homolka. Justice sure screwed the pooch on that one.
I'm from another province in Canada and I remember Tim's disappearance had a big impact here, his best friend at the time lived here and got news of it, facebook groups and posters came up even here. It's terrible someone could do something like this not just for a truck, but for thrills. The overwhelming positive support that emerged from it is the only way I can reflect back without losing complete hope in humanity.
Mike, I LOVE the fact that you don't beg for likes and views! You are genuinely one of the best channels on here and I am enjoying every minute of binging ALL your content 💙💙💙
I love this channel, just found it and been binge watching it over the holidays. Just want to point something out about this case. I live not to far from where this happened and Laura babcocks friend begged the police to look at millard after she disappeared. He sent them texts and other things that he had got from her in her final days that definitely pointed at millard, but they ignored him. This was long before the Tim bosma murder. Had they done their job bosma would be alive today
I’m not an American but am fascinated at this hating and criticising the police that Americans seem to love doing. Being a police officer in the USA would be terrifying, never know if someone has a gun or not. I would be interested to see their society , or sudden lack of, if it had no police.
@@aircastles1013 i’m an american and we criticize them bc the criminal justice system in this country is so outdated and corrupt so we really can’t ever trust that the police are always trying to protect and serve like they’re supposed to yanno? like there’s just alotttt of corruption and funds that are allocated to misconduct settlements & it’s super frustrating
RIP Tim. Chris who is in the first video standing with tims wife they are my step-cousins. When this happened, the videos of Charlene crying on camera is so sad. I hadn't seen these for a long time.
What a horrific thing to do to his own father and a young girl! Whatever goes on in people like this's head is beyond my understanding! The only thing that makes these scary stories bearable, is our friend Mike, here.
If this was in America he wouldn’t have been out to begin with after the “suicide “. All three would have the death penalty or life with no parole ever. Honestly, death is too easy. I think they should have extremely long lives in solitary confinement with no contact with anyone other than guards passing. No phone, no tv, no anything.. for the rest of their (hopefully long) lives.
@@shitwindsshitcity6689 id have to disagree with that. I think some of these sick fucks deserve alot worse than what they inflicted on others. A very slow , long, torturous existence till they die of old age is what they deserve.
Crazy thing is, I remember the news footage of when this dude set the world record with bilateral pilot qualifications, but don’t remember hearing anything about him turning into basically a thug and serial killer. Wow.
Dellen’s ex girlfriend Christina Noudga needs to be sent back to Canada and charged for at least an accessory to murder for Laura Babcock’s murder, living her life in Poland, it’s so wrong
You're very right... I guess the evidence was not substantial enough. I'm not surprised she fled to another country. She'll never get that lucky again.
Thank you Mike for covering this story. I grew up in Hamilton and this story was absolutely shocking and terrifying. Reports of an incinerator were used in the crime, which was even more sinister. Especially with the added fact of 2 other crimes committed by Millard. The respect you show the victims and families is insurmountable. You are amazing. Thank you again.
R.I.P. Tim Bosma and condolences to his family and friends.💐 He looked like a lovely man-the kind of Canadian I (an American) thought represented the majority of that nation's population. Unfortunately, "That Chapter" has disabused me of this illusion.
