It should be added that the original Club Penguin Devs are creating something new! It's called Party Parrot World. It's basically Club Penguin but again without the Disney stuff. So I highly recommend you give the project some love if you want to see an official-ish successor to Club Penguin!
At one point they were making this game called Box Critters but of course they abandoned it only after 3 years. They are now working on this thing called moose and polo but it doesn't seem like they will stick to it. Honestly the creator Rocketsnail keeps abandoning projects and creating new ones so sad to say I don't think we will ever get a virtual world such as club penguin out of him ever again.
Wait, okay, can you elaborate please? I have been waiting for Box Critters for a long while now, that's a game that was being created by rocketsnail. Is PPW a new project of his, or is this the project of the other Club Penguin members? Is Box Critters abandoned? It would make sense, they haven't posted in like 6 months so...
yes! i was looking to comment this!! sorta related but i also forgot whatever happened to mech mice... it could have been another abandoned project like box critters...
@AzureWolf I have to disagree. Flash MMOs aren't mainstream as it was back then. If the original Club Penguin was still around in 2018, it would be hard to compete with Fortnite. As that audience are mainly children but Club Penguin doesn't have a fanbase of kids anymore.
I wanna go back to when club penguin was still around and had a lot of people playing and talking about it. Popularity of it died off since last year sadly. Thanks disney...
@@Kyubeyisbestboy Club Penguin Rewritten shut down for a good reason tho. The owners illegally profited off ads on the game and one of the mods used that money to buy a house. In 2017, Disney asked the CPR admins to remove ads in order the game to still be running. However, they refused and lied to the community that they were in trouble for "using their domain." Not to mention that we had 2 security breaches and no one criticized the admins for having a privacy concern.
@AzureWolf I didnt play Club Penguin at that time. I started play Rewritten in 2019 which is the first club penguin game Ive played. Your question I would respond is probably no. Around the mid 2010s when mmos were becoming less popular, kids were more into indie horror games because of RU-vidrs. There hasnt been really a mainstream Club penguin RU-vidr other than Thinknoodles but he's more recognized as a Minecraft RU-vidr.
I love how you took time to mention how the developers were def passionate about the game. they put a lot of love into a silly game about penguins and it's still kinda sad to see the club end like it did
You missed captain rockhopper’s shenanigans. He has a diary in game which you can read and there are more interesting parties involving him. He also return to club penguin once every couple of weeks and you can see when he will come by looking through the telescope in the lighthouse, there’s a chance you’ll see his ship and over time the ship gets closer.
I loved playing the spy missions just to get that nostalgic of seeing the old sections of the map before they got updated with things like the nightclub or before the popcorn killed the spy base Really wish I could re experience all the party's and evolution of the island
The missions were my favorite part of the game. Me and my sister enjoyed them so much, even the puzzles. It was all so engaging at the time. This game has a special place in my heart fr.
Fun fact: the psa and epf actually had a secret code called the tic-tac-toe code which i wont explain, but it had a signature for the director after z, and if you round up the letters the alphabet goes to AA, which mean aunt arctic!
@@Klick404 Pretty much you make a tic tac toe board and that letter a-i, then for letters k-r you put a cross in there, for every letter after you put a circle in it, and since there's one letter left after z, that's the directors signature
5:08 Penguin emerges 5:31 Penguin spots Choopo 11:25 Penguin is halfway there 13:39 Penguin is dangerously close 14:07 Penguin inches closer 16:24 Penguin is within striking distance 17:21
I remember 10 year old me boycotting Club Penguin when the EPF was introduced because I really loved the PSA and I was really angy they took the PSA missions away and replaced them with hacking shenanigans But then I still logged on occasionally anyways because I really loved Club Penguin, I miss you Jeremy
@@CheesyLizzyNo it didn't, the PSA missions were available immediately after the old HQ was removed. The PSA missions did become unavailable for three-ish years once Operation Blackout started, but not when the PSA was destroyed.
@@frazercowan4030 The PSA missions were not immediately available when the new EPF headquarters were created I assure you I was there. I very much checked. I was mad They did get added to the EpF headquarters somewhere down the line, there was a gray elevator in the back that took you to them But when I checked that was not there day 1.
One of my favorite club penguin memories was waiting an hour to meet rockhopper on Pirate Joke day. (I wanted to see him so bad so I showed up really early) And when he arrived he walked around a little and said "Ahoy!", told a pirate joke I forgot, "Waddle on!" ,and then left.
Omg…the ds spy game unlocked some truly ancient memories…really good memories…looking back on it I do think it’s hard to overstate the charm Club Penguin had, and I’m glad you enjoyed it as much as I did :D
I remember playing the FUCK out of the DS Club Penguin games, getting basically a 100% for the entire thing. Was my entire childhood, glad it was mentioned (:
I played this game for embarrassingly long. I even somehow managed to get my hands on a program that allowed me to be an admin essentially. I only ever accidentally turned into rockhopper once and gave myself free membership so my mom didn’t have to pay anymore. The game was so Fun and I miss it so much.
i could never afford a subscription as a kid, but i loved the old PSA missions so much that a few years ago i went looking for any club penguin revivals and joined one just to replay them 😂
isnt most of its "lore" only in like, 3 places, 2 sources of lore got retconned and anything else is very vague with hints from npc toons we dont even care for in the first place?
Man, I'm so happy to see the lore video of my favorite game. club penguin is a tragically underrated game, sadly. Thanks for making a video for this legend game. Oh, and I would like to add something to the lore too. At Future Party we learn that Rookie is the new Director. And Herbert is captured and frozen while Rookie is the director. Because of that it was once theorized that the rookie was actually the main villain and leaked information from the EPF to Herbert, then overthrew Herbert and took over as director of the EPF. One way or another, Rookie is a true madlad genius lmao.
this game was a bigger part of my childhood than i realise. i remember being 7 years old when club penguin had its first birthday event and was begging my mum for a membership. watching a video on this brought back so much nostalgia and made me a little emotional, feels like a piece of my childhood is dead ya know. awesome video man, first time seeing the channel and will be on the look out for future vids :)
My favourite obscure Club Penguin fact is that both the DS EPF games are canon and even have fancy operation titles as referenced in the newspaper during Blackout. They are called Operation: Robotomy and Operation: Herbert's Revenge respectively. Also today I learnt Scorn came back in CPI lmao
I remember that message after the iceberg tipped on the last day and I think it showed just how much the developers cared about the website they worked so hard on :(
Disney bought Club Penguin for $700,000,000 only to shut it down not even a decade later. Remember this any time anyone tries to tell you about how CEOs and billionaires must be smart if they have so much money. Play Club Penguin Rewritten btw if you like Club Penguin, its pretty good.
After the og Club Penguin shut down, I think there were two semi-illegal websites where you could play Club Penguin, and membership was free. I think it was Club Penguin Rewritten and some other website. I think they both eventually got taken down by Disney because of copyright and the websites removing the swear word ban (which caused them both to descend into a cuss and e-sex nightmare). I'm pretty sure they both came back after the Disney takedown, but I stopped playing on them in 2020, so my puffles are all probably dead.
I still play these websites called private servers. Club Penguin Online was shut down in 2020 because the owner was a child predator. Club Penguin Rewritten shut down in 2022 because the owners were illegally profiting off ads on the game. However the club Penguin fandom still don’t know the truth and believe that CPR did nothing wrong. Not to mention that Rewritten had 2 security breaches and no one in the fanbase every talked about it.
The two main Club Penguin copies were Club Penguin Online and Rewritten. Rewritten got taken down for basically a copyright issue. But Online got taken down because the owner or main dev or whatever got arrested cuz they had child p*rn on their computer.
I left the island in 2014 I believe, for better opportunities. I tried returning in 2017 when it was about to close, but they didn't have my passport (login information was lost). I do miss the simpler times there
Welp, I don't wanna be that guy, but actually Jeremy wouldn't be the stand-in for the North Pole, as penguins mostly live in the south, i.e. Antarctica & friends. Also it probably is supposed to be the south pole, cause there were only a couple of polar bears throughout Club Penguin's run, and considering those are native to the north, AND they are mentioned in-game to have come from a far away land, it would make sense for Jeremy to be the South Pole, and The Polar Bear's homeland to be the North. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk :P
I personally really loved Operation Blackout. I think that and all the ninja stuff was my favorite part of Club Penguin. Though, I DID NOT REMEMBER the part about Aunt Arctic being the mysterious guy giving us missions. I don’t think I even knew about the event. Hacking mini game thing brings back so much nostalgia, but WHAT DID I MISS?!
My dad bought me a membership because he accidentally made me miss my flight from where he lived to where my mom lived. I got excited too, so in the game, I made my house with all the coins I had and got some cool decorations. I also was really good at cardjitsu even when I first started it.
Bro operation blackout was the greatest event in club Penguin history the reveal of the director which explained everything. Good god that event was incredible
I spent most of my summers building my little igloo, playing the pizza and fishing mini games. I never really knew about anything past Gen 1 but just loved my time with it
This was such a throwback. I hadn't realized how long it's been since I conquered the dojo and got all my belts and cool costumes. Even after all these years I couldn't help but smile about the PSA and EPF (I could've sworn that the EPF and PSA existed at the same time, but it's been a while since I last played), and I am absolutely outraged that after all this time and through all of these events I NEVER KNEW THAT THE GOSSIP LADY WAS THE DIRECTOR. I wish I could've been there on the last day to see the iceberg flip.
Fact: Some stock music was used in Club Penguin, and one of the stock music composers with their music used was named "Jeremy Sherman", This might be why the Island looks like a Jeremy
My Gamertag and current username for most things(including YT) is a ode to my original Club Penguin account...I wonder what my 6 girlfriends I never broke up with are up to?
2:24 Long before time had a name, Ninjago was created by the first Spinjitzu master by using the four weapons of Spinjitzu, The Scythe Of Quakes, The Nun-Chucks Of Lightning, The Shurikens Of Ice, The Sword Of Fire. Weapons so strong, noone could handle all of their power at once, When he passed away his sons swore to protect them bit the oldest was consumed by darkness and wanted to posses them. A Battle between brothers broke out but the oldest was struck down and banished to the underworld, peace returned and the younger brother hid the weapons but knowing his older brother's ambition for power, he placed a guardian to rotect them, and for fear from his own demise a map for an honest man to hide, that honest man was your father and the older brother is lord Garmadon and i need to find those weapons before he does
I know I’m a year late but 1:05 this was actually a good movie tbh for it being a Vietnam veteran’s post war story but club penguin-asized. It’s called penguin memories
some innacurscies puffles in CPI being the biggest one, the image you used and some concept art was released but the game shut down before the puffles were released, the sleep reminder at the end was good though
Yah club penguin island had nothing to do when it launched, even though the missions where cool it could not save the game, the puffles you mentioned where going to be released but Disney pulled the plug before they where, They where trying to make the non member expirence better with more to do but people but it was too little too late
Can't talk abt Club Penguin without mentoning this: where were u wen club penguin die i was at house eating dorito when phone ring "Club penguin is kil" "no"
Man this makes me feel so old; I remember all of those events and how fun they were. Disney seems to just ruin everything huh. Edit: I do still infact have my Herbert's revenge ds game! I remember that you could unlock the secret agent stuff early with it which was fun lol
To me as a Disney/Club Penguin fan, I have to disagree about the company ruining the game. They tried to appeal wider audiences but theme parks, tv shows, and movies were the most mainstream. Indie horror games started to become more popular with children in the mid 2010s. And most of the fandom are teenagers/young adults now and not children.
@@eko9554 Disney literally turned club penguin into an advertisement machine for their other IPs, they gradually killed the original mystique of the game, it's why it died out Are your talk abt genre popularity isn't really the case anyway since disney clearly just wanted to shut down the old project entirely and open club penguin THEIR WAY. Which is what they did, they opened club penguin island, as in they wanted to further the genre of children's chat mmos.
The most annoying thing about club penguins “paying to get more rights” was after you got the items and wore them, once the membership expires, you can’t even use the items you bought cuz there locked
man, i really wish i played club penguin when i had the chance. now that it’s gone, i don’t think i’ll ever be able to witness the game in its prime. really sad.
