CORRECTIONS: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FBTE8cv16ts.html Commenters' corrections: - the D3/AU-1 is based on the H&K G3SG/1 (@TrollGarlic) - the Krieg 550 is based on the SG550-1, a longer-barrel version of the SG550 (@govinlock8568, @CS_Uravity_PRO) - the fake weapon names didn't always exist in betas and some post-1.0 copies, instead they used real names (@CS_Uravity_PRO, @Murukku47) - the NVG are actually based on a real model, the russian OH 1x20 (@specialforces3114) - regarding the M4 Super 90 segment: "Auto" could refer to a semi-automatic weapon; one that chambers a round automatically within the cycle (@mdz5083) - the 9x19mm Sidearm is based on the Glock-17C with an extended barrel (@KeksimusMaximus) Commenter's theories: - K&M on USP might be for keyboard & mouse (@wifelessyt) - regarding M4A1: maverick is an unbranded horse (particularly a yearling), whereas a colt is a young male horse (@toast3976) - the CV-47 could be based on Kalashnikov's name (but misunderstood as CalashnikoV) (@dottod7278, @Ozzymand) - FN got changed into ES is maybe because they wanted to turn the Five-seveN into fivE-Seven ( @DamagerZeOptimus)
I am pretty sure it went liek this, the Reail copy fo the game had the fake names (1.0) But, the mod version of the game (as in the free one) the real names it up to v1.5.
8:10 - regarding the bugle shape: look at it upside-down, pretend that the barrel is the mouthpiece and the stock is the horn end, and then proceed to squint whilst suspending your disbelief. Then you too will understand the majestic bugle-shaped form factor of the Assault Rifle from the Saint-Étienne Weapons Factory 🇫🇷📯
@@pezot205 also in 11:23 the actual reason its called 'bullpup' is due to the weapons design, which is infact a bullpup design. a bullpup gun is where where the magazine and chamber are behind the trigger instead of in front of the trigger and according to wikipedia 'A bullpup firearm is one with its firing grip located in front of the breech of the weapon, instead of behind it'
Ah, my favorite weapon manufacturers! Keckler & Moch Efabrique Sacionale Israel Dilitary Findustries ...and the most famous gun in history - Chavtomat Valashnikova
Worth noting, these names only appeared in the commercially released version of CS and the subsequent steam version. Original mod had real weapon names.
How about the guy who saw a guy make an almost 19 minute video of how weird the old nomenclatures in a videogame were, immediately clicks on, watches the entire thing, enjoys tf out of it and subscribed because of it. (me)
I think the reason why AK is called "CV" is more because the weapon name "Avtomat Kalashnikova", more popularly called "Kalashinkov" (dropped the a), if you would hear this without seeing how it's written you'd probably say it's like "CalashnicoV", therefore first and last letter, CV
I mean, the IDF barely even use the Galil irl. I suppose the reason it was included in the T faction is it kinda looks like a AK to non-gun professionals
the IDF doesn't even use the galil, it's used by the Israeli police and multiple South American and African and some Asian countries and Turkey and Italy for some reason
I have no idea why suddenly a lot of youtubers (at least a lot of the ones I watch anyway) started using original DOOM music in their videos, but I'm loving every second of it *insert grinning doomguy face here*
The Krieg 550 in CS is based from SG550 sniper (formally SG550-1), an accurized variant of regular SG550 designed for marksman and sharpshooter use. It has longer barrel (25 inch instead of 20 inch for regular), refined trigger and adjustable cheek piece
15:37 Interestingly enough, When Gearbox were working on their version of Coundition Zero, they wanted to add a CS grenade, which would create a toxic cloud. CT's had access to Gas Mask that protected from the effects of that grenade
i think the d3/au-1 is based off the g3sg1 rather than the g3a3 because the naming scheme of that is closer to the in game name, along with the G3SG1 having a scope
@@pezot205 what a about a "best of" type of video where you take a look at fictionalised guns from all types of media and its inspirations. another type of video i can think of that I barely see iss "Firearm mistakes in media" there's videos of it but there's few and far in between. Example: a burst rifle is shooting auto wish I had a real and more specific example but that's what I could come up with at the moment ssince i'm not a nerd for firearms, haha. Keep up the good work
@@floatinsardines8104 first idea is interesting, I'll consider it! But i probably won't do the second, since i'm not a weapon expert. And anyway, there are people covering firearm mistakes, my favourite is Munancho Inc. for videogames. I just wanted to explain the weird names :D
@@pezot205 nomenclature is a weird world of its own. I think dissecting a best of from your favourite franchises could be good. everything from weapon sinspirations to its naming conventions
I think that they called it the CV-47 to make it seem Czech, the common prefixes for Czech firearms is either VZ (meaning model) and CZ (a gun company) so it is likely a combo of the two
Also fun fact, If you look at the magazine of the Galil you will spot that it's wider and has a sort of waffle pattern on it. The galil in cs 1.6 is modeled after the 7.62x51 dmr version, but it still uses rifle armmo in CS
the developers got the reference pic confused, the model itself is based on an M1 Super 90, the Entry variant used by police, that why it has the Hk rear sight and forend flashlight, the heat shield is entirely fictional.
9:59 oh god you just made me remember how 1.6 uses the forward assist instead of the charging handle to rack the gun, hella cursed how that thing just gets pulled XD
The P228's a bit interesting if you look into its ammo. The .357 Sig rounds it fires were meant to be a compact round the size of a 9mm cartridge but more powerful. Turns out it wasn't really any more powerful than a 9x19mm pistol round.
Fun fact: the in game files refer to the names as their irl counterparts, and if you're a seasoned cs1.6 player, you actually use the real names when configuring the autobuy file!
D3/AU-1 has a complex name D3 means dakka dakka dakka (this gun has high firepower hence a lot of dakka) and AU-1 means that it costs as much as one gold (AUrum) bar
The replacement letters for the manufacturer abbreviations and military designations are indeed used because they are next to each other. Why? Because its easier to code a lot of lines for a particular weapon when the letters are right next to each other. Source: I made it the fuck up. This just logically makes the most sense to me. Like how the XM1014 here uses YG1265. You just have to shift a finger over from Y to G, and its literally 1-2-3-4-5-6, but you go 1-2 with your right hand's pinky and ring fingers and 6-5 with the same hand's index and middle fingers respectively. You can type that out pretty quick without having to shift your hands much.
Yea that was exactly what I was thinking. Just pressed two random letters next to each other on the keyboard for conveniece's sake and 25 years later we're wondering how they got here
16:10 Just wanted to add, the night vision goggles pictured are a rather unusual choice. They are Russian 1st generation OH 1x20 goggles which were rather antique already by the time CS 1.6 released lol.
The only thing I can maybe think of for the M4a1 is that the "Colts" and "Mavericks" are professional sports teams. The problem is that the Colts are an American football team from Indianapolis and the Mavericks are a basketball team from Dallas, so idk why these would be chosen specifically if the sports theory is correct.
Shortly after I watched this video, I became bored and decided to make names like this for other weapons. This is what I made (took about 1 and a half hour) Super Distruttore 12 Gauge SPAS 12 USA Anti-Material 82 Barret M82 .50 VSS RUS 9x39mm AS VAL 1191 Bolt Sidearm Colt 1911 Patton M1 Semi-Auto M1 Garand Stal Litteken NATO SCAR-H Arkansas 501 Sniper Rifle Remington 700 .500 W&S X-Frame Smith and Wesson 500 CVZ-74U AKS-74U Maverick M4A4 Carbine M4A4 Now what I did to do these names: Super Distruttore 12 Gauge: I played a lot of a gun called Pixel Gun 3D back in the day, and there was a gun called Mega Destroyer, that was a incredibly weak (nowdays, back then it was strong), SPAS 12 like gun. I simply took the Destroyer part, and put it in italian, and switched Mega for Super. 12 Gauge is just the caliber. USA Anti-Material 82: I just took USA (United States Army), putted Anti-Material (since it's a Anti-Material rifle) and 82 (because of the M82) VSS RUS 9x39mm: Since Google said that AS VAL said something about VSS (which I immediately recognized as VSS Vintorez, a gun I loved as a kid for some reason), I just put it on the name. RUS is where it was made (Russia) and 9x39mm is the caliber. 1191 Bolt Sidearm: I made something very similar to the Glock 17. I reverted the 1911 and changed Colt to Bolt, and just added Sidearm, since it can be one. Patton M1 Semi-Auto: I took the last name of who created the M1 Garand (George Patton) and added the M1, and added Semi-Auto (because the M1 is Semi-Auto). Stal Litteken NATO: I made the same thing as CS did to Herstal. It's just Stal. "Litteken" is just Scar in Dutch. NATO is just refering to the caliber. Arkansas 501 Sniper Rifle: Now this is creative. Arkansas was were the Remington 700 was made and 501 is the Arkansas's area number. .500 W&S X-Frame: .500 is both the caliber and gun name. W&S (Wesson & Smith if it was like this) is just S&W (Smith & Wesson) in reverse and X-Frame seems to be just the gun frame according to Wikipedia. It's like the AR-15 and the M4A1, the frame is the same. CVZ-74U: I just took the CV-47, and switched the numbers, added a U in the end and a Z (since Z can sometimes sound like S) after CV and there, I did it. Maverick M4A4 Carbine: Same route as the game, but I just took M4A1, and put M4A4.
@@pezot205 I'm not that into older CSes and this channel is old, I'd probably have to create a new one. Plus I suck at drawing but three things for sure (if they were in 1.6): 1. The guns would be mirrored. 2. The guns that have mags would almost clip into the gun itself. 3. The guns would be a little blocky. Plus, if you wanted to know how they look like, you could search on Google. CS 1.6 seems to have a huge mod community.
@@pezot205 My reply got randomly deleted, but it was basically: I'm not that great at posting videos and i'd need to make a new channel since this current one is old and it was an attempt at keep doing what I did as a kid, and I'm also bad at drawing. You can find pretty cool mods for 1.6, and there's each one of the weapons in this list too.
@@pezot205 Yeah. Sometimes they end up not matching back then's graphics or they are just ripped off from other games, but they still look nice and are great. I'm pretty sure they don't mod the gun names, but just the models/animations and maybe sounds.
Is there a way to edit the stats of guns in every cs game? In css someone on gamebanana i think has a script folder with text files where some gun data is.
The m249 in console was just called negev Back in the day ts and cts had different (awps) Arctic Warefare Pistol(AWP) Arctic Warfare Magnum(AWM) RIP 1.5 Knife 🔪
Glock is Glock-17 Long version. Which its funny because this was a gun used for competitive shooting rather then something you would use as service gun.
just a correction about the AK-47: You said "It is the most produced gun ever" and that is not true. The AK-47 is a very rare weapon because the AKM exists, which is a model designed after the AK-47 to facilitate mass production of it for the red army.
Yup, that's why i intentionally remained vague by just calling the gun "Avtomat Kalashnikova". I put "AK-47" in small letters just because it's recognisable. It's my mistake, and also i can't tell what kind of AK it's modelled after, but that might just be the low quality. And anyway, I'm not a guns expert, just using research :D
The SG550 is a based on a real variant of the SIG550 known as the SIG550-1 And the D3/AU-1 is also based on a real precision rifle of the G3 family known as the G3-SG1 Also these fake names didn't always exist. The betas and some copies beyond 1.0 used the accurate real life names. Like the Magnum Sniper Rifle was actually named the AW/M
