@@allan775 there's nothing more annoying than getting the rhythm part down trying to learn the solo only to realize the Lick in the middle of the solo is completely off.
Chris Knoblock Trust me, I know, it’s just many modern young DM musicians will cite stuff like the Florida scene and thrash as their main influences. This guy on the other hand goes back to the stuff the Florida Scene and Thrash guys would cite.
4:00 I can play Solfeggio on the piano, but I couldn't even grasp how difficult it must be to play on the guitar. This man is an amazing guitarist! I look up to him. TBDM FOREVER!!! 🤘
Nocturnal is always going to be my #1 bdm record. So lucky I got to see them when they played its entirety (summer slaughter 2017 I think.) First show I saw them play with Ellis. Dying Fetus was on before them and tore it up
You can definitely hear the difference between him as their lead guitarist vs. past lead guitarists. You can really hear the classic rock inspiration that I think should make it sound cheesey but it doesn’t! At least I think so.
Van Halen made me want to pick up a guitar too. The first time I heard the tapping lick in the intro of Hot for Teacher a switch was flicked in my brain. Synyster Gates is the guitarist that made me want to play metal.
“Smoke on the water” is probably the first thing many guitarists started with of that era. That’s one of the first things I picked when I started and still do 😂
I was never into the Black Dahlia Murder, never heard of Brandon Ellis either, but he can really play. I’m pleasantly surprised that the guy has more going on upstairs than just chugging away on a low B string and grunting.
To be honest I'm not even a fan of chugging. The lowest you really need to go is drop c# or drop # to really get the effect. You can be heavy in E standard
@@TheGreenMonster666 Ryan's solos always sounded weird to me after loving almost every solo from unhallowed/miasma/nocturnal for years, their first guitarist, John, made melodic solos, Ryans were like play as fast as you can ,make it sound kinda cool and done.
@@xZellxKyoux Nah man i dont agree John was great but ryan was like a way better and dramatic with his feels. Check out i will return and its almost Marty friedman like. Of course jason suecof does the outro solo which is amazing
Full View. Nice playing. Really glad I found someone I can understand. Looks like a nice guitar. Great playing. Only 3 strings, never saw that before, but those 3 sure can talk. Best I've seen in a while. Liked a lot. Watched the ads. Stay safe.
Eddie VanHalen is one of the best for sure. I saw them in concert in the early 80's. He was great. David Lee Roth not so much 🤷🏻♀️😆 You are an amazing player 🙌
Saw this guy live in the Black Label Society tour holy fuck I could not believe this guy's lead playing technique jesus I was in disbelief ;) see what I did there lol I'll shut up now.
Dude when I was in the army, two of my buddies and I saw these guys at Free Press Summer Fest in Houston, Tx 2010/2011 (pretty sure it was 2010). A fourth guy was supposed to come with us but something happened and he couldn't, which sucked bc he was a big time BDM fan. I remember we were over halfway there and I forgot the tickets! Dude I was hoping so bad they'd let us in since we bought em online ($50/ea.) And thankfully they did! We hung out twith then afterwards outside for a few minutes, and that was it. They played "What a Horrible Night" when I got chest checked with an elbow real good haha
What happened with Ryan Knight? I remember buying the Deflorate album and the bonus dvd introduced him. I guess that was 2010 though. Shannon Lucas left and Ryan "Bart" Williams. Only Trevor and Brian remain original members
Brandon reminds me of a young me. Never had a lesson but I can play pretty much anything. I take my playing to extremes. I'm 58 now. Keep pushing the limit.
Ive heard of BDM before but didn't think i liked them til i heard "Removal of the Oaken Stake". Check out the vid to see more of Brandon's badass riffage and sweet guitar. Cool video too
