I have a 2006 M3 which is almost completely stock except for pulleys, minus the alternator and my laughable shark injector remap which I plan on removing soon. It’s super clean and a blast to drive.
So nice seeing my car twin!!! After the winter I’ll have to get a paint correct and hope it shines like yours. Anyway great plans you have, get those rod bearings and subframe done. You can get a good deal for treated bearings and bolts on the M3forum.
I have an '03 E46 sedan. 325i. Black on black, 5spd. I'd like to swap in an S54 in her if the engine ever decides to give up the ghost. I wanna do a similar setup to your M3 with mine, so I'll be following along for sure. Can't wait to see what yours looks like when it's all done.
If you’re going full race build I suggest looking at 4.10 gearing I did mine when I got the subframe done! If you’re planning on tracking I highly recommend good harnesses with a seat that can take them and a hans device! It’s so important for safety I always wear mine when I go to the track! Also get some bigger sway bars they are inexpensive and improve the car a ton!
A lot of these parts were on here when I got it. I put the tires and wheels on (the old wheels were too wide and had stretched tires). I also put in the rad and fan because this car would overheat. Now it doesn’t. The aFe intake should get me more HP, but I haven’t dyno’d it yet to confirm
Good luck man, I’ve got a similar but carbon black E46 m3 with similar plans for this year. Would love to do light weight wheel, race seats and that bimmerworld exhaust but couple maintenance items will be first.
Can't wait to see those upgrades this year. Good plan! For the shifter you can take a look at RTD shifter. And just one suggestion, instead of changing the exhaust I would change the headers. Euro (cheap) or Super Sprint headers if you need cats. Wish you all the best!
Awesone content mate, excellent editing. You have just earned a subscriber. Also, I own E46 M3 for a week now, but I want to keep it stock, maybe little bit of bodywork (splitter, diffusor) and exhaust. I don't want to track it, just to enjoy and worship this glorious machine on the county roads. Cheers from Czech republic, keep up the good work!
@@dannyhamler4912 Not looking forward to a dude ricing up a perfectly lookin e46 m3, who da fuck would change that beautifull looking exhaust setup to a singular pipe which is probably gonna be big enough also to stick your head in.
@@dannyhamler4912 sure, all good but a gruppe m titanium exhaust is for race purposes also, supersprint (titanium) race exhaust, see how the word 'race' is in there also, they don't evcen give certificats for it to ride on the streets so your point is, there are many other option than a single exit exhaust if you want something for race purposes, he just chosing the retarded rice solution probably cause it's cheaper.
E4T6 cool. Yeah I really like the Mishimoto stuff. And I love the CSL bumpers, I’m just going to go for function on this one. I may keep the CSL bumper if I ever want to switch it back.
Super dope edit mate. Good to see the M3 again. Really looking forward to your year ahead. Im gona chip in here with my experience just in case it helps. A decent fixed back race seat makes a HUGE difference so great decision to replace the factory item, for the steering wheel you could look at getting the factory wheel covered in Alcantara by someone like cobywheel, they do a great job for a great price. If you run sliders with your race seat (recommended) you wont need a removal wheel kit, saving you money for race gloves which i highly recommend. Anyways a could rattle on for hours but great work and cant wait for the next drop 🤙🏻🤙🏻
I missed if you mentioned your odometer reading. But no matter. Your car is a 2005 which means its definitely in the zone where BMW put up graded rod bearings. From 2003.5 and on they put in up grades rod bearings. It was a recall as well so most have been done free from the dealer if they're older. Just get a Blackstone oil kit and test your oil as it will tell you for sure if you need to do them or not. Likely not. Nice car.
Thanks Greg. It has about 143k on the clock. And I did the blackstone analysis and it said there was signs of wear. They said it could go for a while and get it rechecked, but I’m going to have to do it at some point
@@friguy4444 go to M3forum.net and read read read. Specifically the oil analysis thread. This is well known and widely documented. E9x has rod bearing issues as well which have to be replaced as often as every 60K miles. Also the bug V10 in the older M5/M6 have horrible rod bearing issues.
@@jeffengstrom1536 Yes I'm a member of that forum. Lots of incredible information there. I'm also a member of three other forums with pages and pages of info they've written about those engines. How ever we're talking specifically about the S54. So which on line arm chair mechanics opinions should we believe? Biimmer Fest Forum? E90 Forum? E46 fanatics? Bimmer works .com? I think I'll go with what I've garnered from All of these forums and the general consensus. The recall was quite good and many (Not all but many) E46 M3's are running their bearings well into the 200,000 mile point. Although I would not recommend that.
Happy new year my man this video made me choke up since my M3 got T boned a couple of days ago total loss according to the insurance company I’m sending it off to the junk yard (heaven) later today 😢😭😩
Black Flagged no worries my man I’m good besides some bad rib bruises waiting on that insurance check to come in and I’m on the hunt for a new one I had an 03 with the moon roof delete but smg definitely going for a stick this time even tho mine never gave me any problems and the sub frame was good shit even the vanos didn’t rattle haha I wanted to keep it honestly had some koni shocks and a corsa catback with a few otter bolt ons but insurance said I would have to register it as a salvaged vehicle and didn’t want to deal with it
love your videos man , for the vanos look up naturallyagitated on instagram he honestly does the best vanos kits ive seen( i haven't done mine yet) . and for the rear subframe i did the plates and then reinforced the subframe mounts from inside the boot/trunk area . CMP , vincebrace etc etc make em and they are amazing . RTD shifters are an amazing budget version of CAE and dont have to cut the interior trim :)
Look into whether 275's up front will cause tramlining in the E46. My spidey senses tell me it will be an issue and you don't want to have it, it's annoying as hell.
Nice to see the coupe once again. It’s your choice in the end but that single exit exhaust should be left with the kai boys. Dual exit had always been a bmw thing.
Really like your channel man, you deserve more views and followers. I guess e30 and e46 is a bit niche market youtube vise. Keep up the good work with the cars!
Thanks man, I really appreciate that. Yeah I guess BMW is a little niche. If I wanted more subscribers I guess I should get a BRZ or an FRS. But I’d rather stick to BMWs 😎
Fitment is excellent. Yes I’m considering selling it once I get the other installed. A bit hard to part with because I think they’re hard to find, but I’m going to need the money
Just stumbled onto your channel from this video, love what I'm seeing! Looks like you're editing in Adobe Premier, can you share how you added the title pointers for each mod? I like the effect they had coming in, etc. I'd love to do a video exactly like this for my car in a few months.
Thanks! Yes I edit in premier. I created the pointers in Illustrator, then brought them into photoshop to make sure the proportions were right for 1920x1080. But I technically could have done that in illustrator. Anyway, saved them out as PNGs and then brought them into premier.
Cool - I'm not so much worried about creating the graphic as I am to get them to have that entry effect. Like they glitched or something. I'm sure I can look up some other tutorials, just not sure what to search for.
I stopped after you replaced the stock cold air intake which is actually pulling from the kidneys. I'll go out and enjoy my E30 S54 now. However concerning your main fan replacement with an electrical, use a Derale PWM unit so that your Amp pull doesnt hurt the system and it is easily tuned to your needs. Otherwise with a usual relay setup, when the fan kicks on, its a huge hit to the wiring. Also you can tune your Aux fan to your needs as well easily as seen here: www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showpost.php?p=1067936663&postcount=935 and the info for how to do that is here: github.com/saildot4k/MSS54-XDFs
EveryDayIsDifferent the stock M3 makes 333 or so at the engine, not the wheels. All cars lose 15-20% through the drivetrain. So most stock M3’s will make somewhere between 270 and 280hp to the wheels. Mine is making 295hp to the wheels.
Did you just say that your e46 m3 engine is putting out 295whp?!?! The e46 m3 puts out 333whp stock. WTH, am i missing something here? Anybody want to comment on this?
David Moreno Hey David the stock M3 makes 333 or so at the engine, not the wheels. All cars lose 15-20% through the drivetrain. So most stock M3’s will make somewhere between 270 and 280hp to the wheels. Mine is making 295hp to the wheels.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh!😯 I’m learning something new right now. I did not know this! Well thank you for that knowledge. Now I know to subtract 15-20% of the engine’s hp to get the whp on my car. Love your car btw 😎
David Moreno thanks man! And yeah it took me a while to learn that one. But it’s definitely good to know 👍 Just pay attention to hp vs. whp (wheel horsepower)
francisco gonzalez no, 295 to the wheels, not at the engine. Stock m3’s make 333 or so at the engine. You lose 15-20% through the drivetrain, so most stock e46 m3’s would make somewhere in the neighborhood of 280-285 to the wheels. Mine makes 295. So if we did the math in reverse I’m probably in the neighborhood of 345-350hp at the engine.
I said 295 to the wheels, not at the engine. Stock m3’s make 333 or so at the engine. You lose 15-20% through the drivetrain - that’s normal for any car. So most stock e46 m3’s would make somewhere in the neighborhood of 280-285 to the wheels. Mine makes 295. So maybe compared to a supercharged, turbo, or seriously built engine it’s low, but compared to a stock M3 it’s pretty healthy
