Same here, the red line was my bread and butter for when I got started, I used to love going out looking for those boxes on pegs! Recently it's just been incredible seeing them back on shelves with the rereleases!
I have to agree this is effectively the Black Series finest time, currently. My main gripe would be the general lack of accessories, but I made my peace with Hazza being penny-pinching gits a long time ago. This was a top video T!! Loads of "food" for thought. Personally, I want more characters than re-dos... I know people want the ultimate Luke Farm, but I can live with my original red and black box version. I swapped his head with a Yavin ceremony and I pinched his robe backwards and it holds with his belt. I'll buy the new one, but even now, the headsculpt looks rubbish. I'd rather have Snaggletooth, Lobot or FX-7. My largest hope for the line overall, is they make the 100 or so 3.75 Kenner/Palitoy figures I had as a kid, before it ends. Ever since I got my first few 6 inch BS OT figures, my ambition was always to have the original 3.75 figure presented next to the 6 inch version of it.
I definitely agree on the character choice mate, I feel like Kenner gave them a blueprint for a perfect line of classic characters and I've always liked the idea of doing something like The Padawan Collector with a Black Series twist. So tracking down all the original Kenner characters in their Black Series realisations and displaying them like the originals. Don't know why, it always made me happy to think about :))

I started collecting in 2015, and I have all but about 2 of the early figures, and I agree the quality of sculpt and articulation is definitely better now than it's ever been. I question some of the character choices, but Disney drives a lot of that (at least that's my understanding). What truly baffles me is how you don't have 10,000 subscribers yet. Something is definitely off with the algorithm...
Yeah there is kind of this unspoken understanding that new media occupies a certain percentage of the new figure slots each year, and that's good for new-new characters to get into the line. I feel like we could allow a few more classic and prequel era character slots, maybe tip the scales more toward established characters, but overall I've been pretty happy since each new series has brought great new figures. I was exactly the same,I stayed away from face characters & only helmeted,alien & droids figs,so when the face printing tech came in was a game changer for me & of course much improved articulation too,yeh & I agree the line has been getting better & better in the past five years & 2022 & 2023 where peak years from the line with lots of figs from all types of media & deep cut content stuff too & this year is shaping up just as great with some of the cool figs & of course the return of the vehicles,so good to see that,the Darth maul & speeder I have wanted for so long in the line & now it is on my shelf so i am a happy bunny lol the line is getting better & better & hopefully that continues for how ever the line lasts for,great jibba jabba chat vid,keep up the great work always a fun watch 😊🤘
Completely agree with you, that's part of why I praise the Archive line so much, I feel like it's never just a straight rerelease with older figures they always improve something about them even if it's just the face. That new Maul makes me so happy, partly because it instantly takes me back to being nine years old and begging my mum for the very same figure back in 1999, but also because it gave SUCH a great update to an old figure that desperately needed it :)) thanks so much for your feedback, it's always appreciated!
This is a very well-thought out and excellent discussion of the state of the line. I just discovered your channel today, and I'm an instant fan. I share a lot of your opinion on how far TBS has come in the last few years, and while display space has become scarce for me, I still find myself ordering these figures. @@grandmofftony Yes! I had to pinch my nose and swallow an £85 kick in the testes for ebay Anakin, but he completed the thirteen. I also created the "legendary" number 13 Chewbacca from a blue line box release and melded that with bits from the orange boxes that they never released to give me 1-14, which I've never seen anyone else do.
Ahh the original Anakin! I remember seeing that on Ebay for a similar price back in the early days of getting into the line and thinking "can I have a Star Wars figure collection without Anakin?" because the price was really scaring me off! XD
@@grandmofftony T!! It scared me recently!! I still haven't got that figure loose either. Not Orange or archive. It's a bit of a collection hole, alongside no loose Why've-You-Gone-Jim? My only versions of him are the force ghost and a carded Phantom Menace which I refuse to open as he is part of the Jin/Maul/Shinobi PM carded threesome.
I agree the sculpt and articulation has greatly improved, but it's just not an exciting line (for me). They've given up on extra accessories, dioramas, large creatures and vehicles ( GI Joes Classified is doing it right). Aside from a few Andor figures, I've not collected many Black Series this year. That said, I'm happy for my fellow collectors finding joy in this line.
100% agree with this. I understand why they pulled back from large vehicles, but speeders and ride-ons are the perfect size for this scale. I hope we've set a good precedent with the sales on the STAP and Bloodfin to entice Hasbro into giving us some more!

I still think the black series would be much better if the Articulation was better like Double jointed Knees and elbows rotating ankles and wrists Butterfly shoulders this would improve the line so much !!!!
Of course the quality of the figures is the best its ever been, but surely thats a given, just like the figures in 10 yrs time will be better than the figures of today. Modern sculpting is top of the range and will only improve. But the line falls flat in terms of dioramas, background pieces, creatures, small vehicles and accessories. All of which i think hasbro need to start thinking outside of the box on. With a little more effort, hasbro could turn the black series into something even greater than it is today.
i dont think i can go back to collecting SW again im old now. I hope the franchise cater to younger audiences rather than to the old fans. roblox and star wars maybe?
What kills me is that i have most all these characters (except the disney ones) in 3.75 inch with a few vehicles. I'm not rebuying them and disney killed all my interest in star wars
That's completely fair, that scale works really well for a lot of people and I can respect that :) I collected the smaller figures when I was younger, I still have a box of them at my mum's house back in sunny England that I'm hoping to get over here soon. I think it would be a great retrospective to look back at the figures I played with as a child and see how they've informed my choices as an adult collector, might be some cool ideas for new Black Series figures in there too!
