I like negative displays on all these digital type watches.. Just looks way cooler.. I like the fact that on some the display is subdued.. I don't like a huge digital display that can be seen by everyone. I really like the 6900 military blackout g shock.. the screen is so faint everyone bitches about it, but I personally enjoy it. Unless you have bad eyesight it's not a big deal.
This is the model I wear 24/7. Even the mudmaster is just sitting in the watch box now. I'm 52 and I still have no problem reading it. Just looks super cool on the wrist, even for old guys!
The tins are for the international models. The japanese market versions come with the nicer packaging, and sometimes better qualities like the carbon fiber band in this case
Man, I keep wishing Casio would release this model with a positive display screen. I love the stealthy looks but absolutely can’t deal with not being able to see the screen. I have the regular version, but the reflection from the front silver screws drives me nuts.
You say it's super legible and then the instant you turn your powerful studio light off and the light becomes more natural in the room the display becomes barely legible.
Love the screen on my Gr b100 g shock. It is programmable. Very legible. I think it is called dot matrix display. Really hoped they implemented it on this.
Can you have the compass programmed to be on the home screen rather than having to press the side button three times to reach the compass after the altimeter?
MAV really appreciate your videos. Very clear and helpful. Is sad that some watchers don't appreciate your time and availability for e.g. show us, appreciators of this beauties that there is a carbon fiber band option for this model. Is a very important piece of information and everyone should be thankful. I have the GW-9400 - 1 negative display and is awesome. I need to put my hands on this model too. keep on doing this great videos! thanks!
How are you doing with the champion watch? I would like to buy it for all the functions it brings, but I am somewhat demotivated that it does not have resistance to mud, at least that says the product specifications, do you know something about the subject? do you know if it has a filter like mudmasters?
Not to be a pain on this video, but after seeing one of your other vids it reminded me that G shocks are in fact resin/plastic. I have several already and because I have many watches, they are meant to last forever as none get that much wrist time. But will they? Should I count on the plastic watches to last and keep adding more G's to my collection only to have straps disintegrate? Will the case itself become shiny as it starts to get old and decompose? Or should I just keep what I've got for now, don't go any further and focus on steel watches?
Got my rangeman 9400 positive display on jomashop for 165.00$ brand new and bought my 2nd rangeman on Macy's app with 30% off which came to 128.75$ plus got a free GSHOCK shaker bottle, would love to have the Japan model but lord for that price it just makes more sense to buy the bands separately. Be safe and shock on.

got the watch 2 weeks ago from eBay ...love this watch added on the bull bar protector....looks more tough....want the GWF 1000 frogman and the GWG Mudmaster, love live Casio G shock solar...have a nice day
Is the keeper IS BLACK???? Thank you for the review, I have the olive drab color/model and really love everything about it. Some people say they can't view it enough, but I disagree. I just think they need to get used to the negative display, because the regular one is tricky too sometimes depending on the light and angle. Some of the older ones with negative display were hard to see but they've gotten better. Casio had no choice but to step their game up, because the other companies did have a better negative display. Honestly, it could get a little better though, Garmin does have a more defined contrast with their negative display. I just needed to have a watch that was self-sustaining, and didn't need love every 40 hrs. to charge. Garmin does have the solar option, but, it still isn't self-sustaining like the G shock. G shock is in a class of it's own, considering the abuse you can put them through. This watch will outlive me!
The keeper is black, but let me tell you having this watch being my everyday wear-watch, it scratches easily. I bought the Japan version from the link in the vid, and come to think of it, I would buy the EU/USA version without the carbon straps for half the price next time.
@AN N Too bad! Thanks for your reply friend and I do completely agree on what you said about the Rangeman's negative display, I used to have the olive green with the negative display but I sold it to my friend co'z I find it difficult to read the time. This is why I asked if this one have the STN display.
"Good afternoon, please tell me, maybe someone knows how to correctly calibrate the thermometer on the G-Shock 9400 Rangeman". support.casio.com/storage/en/manual/pdf/EN/009/qw3410.pdf
And you can buy those bands off tiktox or several other websites or ebay for alot cheaper even the outer bezel. I bought the desert camo bezel and bands for 33.00 on ebay and also the blackout bezel and carbon fiber bands as well and got them for 45.00$ usd, no bad which I still have the positive display but still looks great.
:17 seconds in, "can't do this". I had a Rangeman (Olive) with negative display, G King negative display. (sold them all on ebay) cannot do the neg displays anymore. There are a couple that use a digit color that is a little better on the neg display, but many are soooo dim. The red color is very dim, the rangeman was like a tan color digit and it was too light. You can only see these things in direct light as it reflects, or in total darkness with the light. In low light, or dusk, it's not legible. And like you Mav, I like watches with big readable displays, like that Timex Expedition big screen TV. LOL
My Suunto core military was negative display only. It could not be flipped to positive. And the Suunto display was way worse than G shock. I wanted to buy it for a year, wore it for 2 days, sold it on ebay the 3rd. So sad. The contrast on Suunto is so bad. The entire display gets light and the digits a little more light, but the light on Suunto was very poor, not bright enough to see unless you're in total darkness and eyes adjusted. But out on a run in late afternoon or early evening? Can't see anything. Have to stop, cup my hand around it and use the light and put it up to my eye, or find light and angle it into the light until I can see the reflection. It was terrible. If people have any issues with their eyes, wear glasses, getting older, ie, late 30's or 40's. Avoid negative.
Angus and Coote, Goldmark and Myer just to name a few. There's also a online store called GLife watches that's based in Queensland. I buy all my G-shocks from them and they are the real deal.
Makes me so angry, because in all the photos and videos you can see the time very easily, but that's because the watches are all in well lit studios, etc.
I have a question, if you are in the dark room or evening outside, when you raise your hand to see time, will backlight be turned on automatically or you have to push that button to turn on the light? It seems it can be automatically turned on when you raise your hand but I am not quite sure, do you know?
You can push the light button or if you activated the automatic light function, the light will turn on if you lift your wrist.. Oh and it will detect if you in a bright place the auto light will not turn on the light if you lift your wrist
Bit harsh isn't it? He says it's a quick review not an in depth tutorial. These types of vids are for if you are potentially interested in buying one not a visual ops manuel
@@maverickwatchreviews Thanks for replying. Please realize this is the top video on RU-vid for this product for video reviews, Im not seeing a link in description for a full review, and your not going into any depth. Seems to me like click bait. Happy to amend my comment, mind sending me the full review link.
@@b0mazor - it is nothing new in the Rangeman lineup, just different colors (or lack of in this case). Go look at the countless other reviews of the OG to learn more.
I like these but I wish they had text and call notifications as well color map navigation built in as other high end models do. They get those updates and they’ll be the complete watch!
