While I agree with the spiritual meanings behind water and blood story, it also presents an actual physical/medical and historical account of the event. From this account, we know that the spear pierced his lung for sure. That's the only way you could get water & blood come out separately which is a very rare phenomenon. 99.99% of times there's no wafer and blood separation. Ask yourself if you have ever seen one? we only see blood... Yet in the 1950s it was proved to be medically possible called "pleural effusion". It could happen to someone when one experiences lots of trauma. This is another reason to accept John’s description of the crucifixion as an eyewitness account because no one knew this was possible until the 1950s, yet he saw and wrote down exactly what happened.

Yes this is absolutely correct. Back then there was no way to medically describe this. Johns words and reassurance are the key. I find this passage to be one of my favorites now God didn't have to do this. The Fall of Adam caused death both physically and spiritually. A plan of salvation , to save us from eternal death was the work up on the cross. During those hours the amount of pain and suffering endured as Christ took on all of our sins. To know what he went through to save us , it's something that proves his love. The gospel saves us but only if we believe. Blessings.

It's so easy to get caught up in the worldly things and stories. Once you stop and break away from that nonsense (because that is what it is) and focus on the Word of God, you will understand the meaning of the gospel ..When you really get into the bible and understand all of the layers , it's far more beautiful and interesting than anything you have ever heard. I was lost for a few years and I felt God call me back after the death of my mother. Now I'm getting it . Thank you for this breakdown of . The gospel is what saves us, but only if you believe....Blessings.

I'm a Jewish convert to the Catholic Faith. I appreciate very much these videos by Dr. Pitre, especially because of the "first century Jewish" perspective. When I read Ezekiel's description (Ezekiel 47) of the water "flowing from under the right side of the Temple, south of the altar," that becomes a mighty river, I always associate that with the blood and water flowing from the side of Christ. Ezekiel goes on to describe the new life and healing powers of this river, just as the Sacraments bring new life and healing to the world. I can't remember if Dr. Pitre mentioned this chapter of Ezekiel in this video, but perhaps in another one?

Dr. Petre I haven't stopped crying by reading again the passage of Saint John Gospel by your interpretation viewed by the first Jewish Christians. I'm so grateful to God that my parents baptized me and brought me into the Body of Christ. Also, you helped me to put myself in the shoes of Saint John when he was a young man, witnessing the death of his Lord and Master on the Cross, holding his Lord's Holy Mother. What immense grace of fortitude he might have had to be chosen by God to be present at the moment of our redemption, so he could record it in his Gospel for our benefit. Because He died for me, now I'm going to live for Him.! Thank you, Dr. Petre. God and His Holy Mother bless you.

Jesus was the new sacrifice lamb. Lamb sacrificing was no longer needed as Jesus was our sacrifice for all of us.

Jesus, whom they have pierced, is the Bridegroom. Just as with Adam from whom's side comes the bride in Eve, so too, the new Eve comes from the side of Christ Jesus. The new Eve who is the Holy Mother of God lives in The Church. The Church is the bride of Christ Jesus, Our Lord and Redeemer. Just as a mother of the Bridegroom blesses the union of her son to his bride, The Virgin Mary, Our Mother, blesses the union between her Son and His Church in His disciples.

Ezra hid the Ark of the Covenant in a subterranean passage under Jerusalem on the eve of Nebuchadnezzar's destruction of the Temple of YHWH. See 2 Maccabees 2. When Yeshua died on the cross an earthquake rent the rock precisely where the cross hole support is on Golgotha. John writes of the water and blood that flowed and testifies about it as it is an important event that many may miss. His precious blood and water (possibly a drink infused with hyssop) flowed from His side through the cracked hole down into the Earth and settled upon the west side of the Ark of the Covenant. The est side had old animal blood on it.

Ron Wyatt discovered the Arc of the Covenant under the crucifixion site and the blood of Christ was on the mercy seat. He had the blood analyed and it was still alive and contained only 24 chromosomes, 23 from Mary and one Y chromosome from God the Father. This proves the divinity of Jesus Christ as humans contain 46 chromosomes, 23 from each perant.

It may also be simply that blood is required of sacrifice and Jesus said that He will give freely living waters. Which is a reference to the river from the temple in Ezekiel.

After the lamp is slaughtered, the blood is drained out and thrown out. Then, the Jews would only ate the flesh of the lamp. But here, as Christians, we are told eat and drink the blood of Jesus. Jews do not drink the blood of the slaughtered lamps. What is your explanation to the difference to the drinking of the blood of the sacrificial lamps?

Good question. St Justin in 150 explained that while the blood of lambs and goats is the blood of dead animals, the flesh and blood of Christ is the Flesh and Blood of the risen and glorified King of the Universe.

It a type...water, blood, spirit. Just like natural birth. Water, blood then spirit. In the Baptism we go in the water then we recieve the blood covering then we recieve the Holy spirit. Great correlations, but you treat them like a teenager handed the keys to the family car without direction, destination or purpose. The ‘love of God’ is not the end to the story. In love for and therefore obedience to the Father who gave His son , Jesus bore the judgment and paid the penalty for every personal sin ever committed. “He is the propitiation (atonement)not for our sins only but for the sins of the WHOLE WORLD”. HENCE, the FATHER gave his SON for us. What more can any father do but to give his son, the whole reason for describing the first and second members of the Trinity in that Father_son relationship who are otherwise co-equal and co-eternal. You need to break it down better and unpack each verse before you go onto the next. Stacking them like that just confuses, but great research however

It is such a pity that you present an interesting argument as to how Jesus is seen as the temple, knowing that Jesus says he is the temple and that the Father dwelt in him, but you cannot connect the dots. Jesus is not God incarnate but is the temple of God as are we through Jesus.

John pointing out the prophecy of the piercing was insightful. The remaining interpretation was mind numbing stupidity searching for a lame brain in which to reside. Frankly this is what happens to all theologians when they strive to prove their worth rather than stick to Jesus’s simple message that would earn children everlasting life. Luke 10:21 Embarrassing over intellectualizing. You and Augustine. As Thomas Aquinas said after a lifetime of such blather, “It’s just so much straw.”

When will you people OPEN YOUR EYES. The stories in the gospels are just FAIRY TALES. NON ONE KNOWS WHO WROTE THEM. Oh there is plenty of SPECULATION, you know they MUST have been written by so and so. Or well it was DEFINITELY so and so who wrote them. The TRUTH is NO ONE KNOW WHERE THEY CAME FROM. The most likely answer is that they were written by Roman Scribes under orders from Emperor Constantine. Now let’s take the VIRGIN BIRTH FAIRY TALE. Not one single eyewitness to the SUPPOSED EVENT ever wrote anything about it. NO ONE. The Wise men DISAPPEARED, the Shepherds DISAPPEARED, NONE OF THEM WERE EVER HEARD OF AGAIN. The ONLY other witnesses, were Joseph and Mary, who are the LEAST CREDIBLE WITNESSES IN HISTORY. Joseph was an old man, Mary a young woman, NOW WHO DO YOU THINK THE FATHER OF THE CHILD WAS? By far the MOST LIKLY ANSWER is that the father was a BOYFRIEND OF MARY. The Virgin birth FAIRY TALE was an attempt to coverup the SIN AND THE SHAME of Mary’s dalliance with a BOYFRIEND. Also, the whole reason that Joseph and Mary were in Bethlehem was because of a CENSUS. The Romans were good at almost everything they touched and they were VERY GOOD RECORD KEEPERS. NO ONE HAS EVER FOUND ANY EVIDENCE OF THIS CENSUS, NONE. In any case when a census is conducted you count the people where they are, THEY DO NOT RETURN TO THE HOMES TO BE COUNTED. This PROVES that perhaps the most FUNDAMENTAL PILLAR OF CHRISTIANITY, the Virgin Birth, IS A SHAM. Which means that the ENTIRE FAIRY TALE OF JESUS CHRIST IS A PACK OF LIES. STOP LYING

Wow. I was putting off watching this video until I felt ready. I meditated on the scripture that Dr. Brant broke down four days prior during Eucharistic Adoration. I couldn't really get out very much from my meditation, but Dr. Brant's breakdown made everything clear. God bless this man and all of Catholic Productions.

Beautiful reflection on the blood and water from the side of Christ which gushes forth as a fountain of mercy for us. I was a blind evangelical manipulating Sacred Scripture on my own with no authority led on by my misguided preachers. Eventually I lost my faith. Then Jesus opened my eyes and led me home to the one Church he established which matured into the Catholic Church his bride. God bless you.

The Woman was taken from the side of the man. Eva was taken from the side of Adam. Here the Woman is the Church. Water is Baptism and blood is Eucharist. I am 73 years old and learned this in Ireland at school when I was a child pre Vatican11. The Jewish Passover prayers that were said in the Temple in Jerusalem that Jesus attended with His Apostles on the night He was betrayed are in the Tridentine Mass only.

You might wonder why there was both water and blood? The water would be due to the pooling of fluid from gravity in the extremities the failing of the heart as not enough blood was returning to the heart.The blood fluid and clotted would leave any large vessel or heart . I like the discussion of the blood and water being the blood of the feeding of the church and the water of baptism.The blood and water leaving the temple was interesting.
