Britain entered WW2 in 1939 NOT 1941. On September 1, 1939, Hitler invaded Poland. On September 3, 1939, France and Britain declared war on Germany, beginning the START of WW2. The Battle of Britain, 10 July 1940 - 31 October 1940, when the British RAF defeated the German Luftwaffe. Germany couldn’t defeat Britain without air superiority because it is an island. And you are trying to frame Ukraine as an "villain nation" just because of Bybyn Yar tragedy, that was orcestreted by SS, Germans, and the most radical ukrainian collaborators... Also, don't forget that what happened in Volunie was as much of a horrible crime as what Poles(Armia Krayowa) and Polish SS did during Operation Wisla to Ukrainians and what Armia Krayowa did to tens of thousands of peaceful Ukrainians during ethic cleanings... So in the end of the day, russia killed like 150 times more peaceful people than Ukraine. That's why Poland helps Ukraine and prepares to be ready to new coming of ruSSia's "peasful world". Even during first actions of Holocaust (Babi Yar - killing 30,000 + people) there were lots of Ukrainian volunteers who willingly participated in the killing. Also lots of Ukrainian volunteers participated in anti-partisan and anti-insergents actions in the neighboring Belarus, killing lots of innocent civilians. There is a well known story about massacre in the Belarussian village Khatyn where almost entire village population where killed with active participation of the Ukrainian volunteers. Indeed there were major battles fought in Ukraine both during German offensive in 1941 and 1942 as well as during USSR's offensive in 1944. Civilians suffered a lot. But the Red army itself was combined from people drafted from the entire USSR (there were Ukrainians there too), it is USSR who defeated Germans in Ukraine.

The Nachtigall Battalion (English: Nightingale Battalion), also known as the Ukrainian Nightingale Battalion Group (German: Bataillon Ukrainische Gruppe Nachtigall), or officially as Special Group Nachtigall,[1] was the subunit under command of the German Abwehr special operations unit Lehrregiment "Brandenburg" z.b.V. 800. Along with the Roland Battalion it was one of two military units formed February 25, 1941 by head of the Abwehr Wilhelm Franz Canaris, which sanctioned the creation of the "Ukrainian Legion" under German command. It was composed of volunteer Ukrainians operating under Stephan Bandera's Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) orders.[2]

@gregdvorkin

@@casteretpollux True. Moreover, among those about 1 million people from USSR who collaborated with Nazis Ukrainians where not the only ethnic group. Majority of those people joined Germans to feed their families or just to survive. Those volunteers who fought for Germany were not the majority. The issue is that how come all of a sudden those people appeared in the political mainstream at all? From my experience: I had relatives in western Ukraine, friends in all part of it, travelled across Ukraine for work and vacation, had lots of personal interactions with people of all ethnic groups, Russian and Ukrainian native speakers, some where Ukrainian nationalists who responded only in Ukrainian. Some of them did not hesitate to show discontent with the Soviet political and economical system, mentioned Stalin's deportations before and after the war. But I have never heard anyone who would be happy to have connections with volunteers who were willingly fighting for Nazis, not to mention German managed police forces. My family Dr was Ukrainian with a thick accent. On his wall he had an 8x10 picture of himself dressed in a WW2 era US Army medical corp Captains uniform. Even though he said he didnt come to the United States until 1959. . When I became a teenage I asked how could this be. The Doctor told me when WW2 began many Ukrainians sided and served with the Nazis. Including many of his family. He was a young Dr at the time and he too served with the Nazis. . When the War turned the Russians came into the Ukraine and anyone even suspected of collaborating with the Nazis were executed. Including sevrral members of his family. He said he fled West to Germany and kept running until he found an advancing United States army unit. He surrendered and begged the Americans not to sending him back to Ukraine and certain death. He told them he was a Medical Doctor. After several exams and interrogations the Americans told him that if he joined the United States Army for 14 years he would be an American Soldier and no Russians would touch him and at the completion of his service he would then become an American Citizen. The Russians and the Ukrainians have a long and heated relationship.

I think the historical perspective needs to go back to at least 1917 and the Soviet revolution as well as setting out the historical cultural difference between Ukrainians and Tsarist Russia that predate that. From a modern perspective, if is very interesting to contrast Ukraine (and the Baltic States) with Belarus, which suffered even more significant damage than Ukraine during the war itself. Why has Putin's Russia managed to subsume Belarus whilst failing to the north and south. Oh dear historian. No one in Britain thinks the war started in mid-1940. It was September 1939 and only happened then because Britain and France decided to make Poland the hill to start the fight against Hitler on.

The Ukrainians saw the Nazis as a better alternative to the hated Russians and that the war forced them to make wrong choices. The Ukrainian civilians clubbed Jewish women and children to death. “When they arrived at Leviatin, there were already two huge, wide-open pits ready to engulf them. The Ukrainian killers ordered the woman and children to undress and to go down into the pits. There was a spray of machinegun fire and screams, as the shouted orders of the killers blended with screams and cries of the women and children, their bodies still breathing and choking, became dust.” How could the Ukrainians have been so evil. There are photos on google showing the Ukrainian killers smiling during the Pogroms. Many people including myself could never ever have done such an evil act.

One thing history teaches us is that historians, such as the one in this film, indeed can be right about some things, but one should not be too quick to agree or disagree with what they say, whether in part or in total . . . because to do so without being omniscient is always dicey. The only rational decision I favor In regard to the Ukraine is one of neutrality. The fact that there are significant Nazi or neo-Nazi militias/groups like Azov and the Right Sector etc. in the Ukraine that wield significant power and influence is what bothers me the most about our military support. As many point out, the USA’s support for abusive, aggressive regimes like Saudi Arabia, or its support for the Israeli occupation of Palestine, or its attack on essential services like Iraqi water purification and power generation facilities during both the Clinton and Bush years (to name a few) disqualify the USA from making any kind of moral case for its role as a judge of Putin, or as part of an interventionist coalition. (There are many, many other examples of the USA’s support for repressive regimes throughout the 20th and 21st century, as well as its own tolerance for corporate collusion with bad actors - such as IBM’s collaboration with the Nazi Holocaust to name just one of many, that also should disqualify the USA as a “force of good in the world”) You might as well argue that Ted Bundy should have been a prosecutor of serial killers.

Brittan, France and the US, could have easily sent troops to Russia to to attack Hiter from the east. Saving millions of lives. Instead the Allies decided to make lots of money instead.

LOL another looney that has no idea. The idea that Stalin would have welcomed an Western Army of several million men in the Soviet Union is laughable. In any case, we did not then have the logistical capacity to transport and them support than many men at that distance from the UK. As it was petrol shortages and air cover were major issues during 1944 as the advance extended away from the supply bases in Normandy. It was not until the large French ports (Marseille and Bordeaux) and the Belgium/Dutch ports were reopened (in 1945) that logistic issues started to decline for the allied force in NW Europe.

@nickbrough8335

@@ottilie9711 Why ? It is so much historical nonsense and well as being a complete fabrication. The war in France and Germany started in 9/39, whilst both Stalin and the Roosevelt sat in comfort minding their own business. Of course Roosevelt became a great supporter of the UK proving loans for the UK to buy weapons from US factories, but they certainly hedged their bets until the Battle of Britain was won (JFK"s father had quite a bit to do with that). The UK gave up almost all of its foreign exchange reserves and financial investments in the US to fund this. Lend Lease support (basically sale or return basis) came later. The UK barely had the troops to fight in North Africa, where we were often losing, after the Greek invasion in Spring 1941. The Home Army has been evacuated from Northern France (along with a large number of French troops. most of whom returned to France after the surrender) but without any of its equipment (tanks, artillery., vehicles, ammunition etc). France (the largest military power in pre-War Europe) had already been beaten before Russia was even invaded. Stalin even ignored warnings from Churchill and his own spy network before the Russian invasion commenced. Thats how much he trusted the UK. Neither would Stalin have allowed it. Just go and read how the Lancaster bomber crews from 617 squadron were treated on landing in Russia after the attack on th e Tirpitz or the Royal and Merchant Navy crews were confined to their ships on arrival at Murmansk and Archangel on the Russian convey route. Do you know the UK and US provide Russian with around 7,000 tanks, numerous jeeps and other vehicles (300,000 or so from the US), raw materials such as rubber and difficult to obtain alloys, including 15,000 aircraft provide by the US and a further 7,400 from the UK (3,000 of which were bought from the Americans). This contribution to the Red Army was rarely recognised though. Allied supplied equipment was removed from Russian wartime images though. Apart from the small quantity of material that was returned after the war ended, this military aid was given for FREE. Whilst preparing for the D-Day invasion of June 1944, the allies also invaded mainland Italy (after taking Sicily) in summer 1943 and did not have sufficient forces to beat even a small German occupying force of about 500,000 men. Of course, 40 % of US forces were deployed to fight on two fronts against the Japanese empire, with limited support from the UK and Australia and no support at all from Stalin's Russia. In fact the only Russian activity in the Pacific was to invade Japanese islands off the Russian coast after Japan had already been defeated, but before their official surrender. Russia still occupies this territory today. The final point is what money was made out of WW2. The UK only finished paying off the loans in 2006 and also endured WW2 style rationing until 1954, almost10 years after the end of the war itself. The US became the richest economy in the world based on its manufacturing might not out of war profiteering although they did make money from the UK between 9/39 and 12/41, before we became allies in a joint war against Germany and Japan. During the war the events on the eastern front and the sacrifices made by the Red Army were very well know and there was massive UK and French support for the Russian people. However, it was Stalin that decided to occupy eastern Europe and turn it into his sphere of Interest. The only countries the west occupied were West Germany, Japan and Italy and then not for that long. Stalin chose to make the Soviet Union the enemy of the west for his own purposes. The cold war was his creation as much as anyone else.

@@aafgahfah In the context of WW2, yes, but 500,000 men is stall a massive number. My recollection may be off slightly, but I recall reading that the UK/US Strategic bombing campaigns resulted in around 2 million German men being tied up in the anti-aircraft defence of Germany. The fear of European invasion through 43/44 alongside the sabotage and resistance support from the SOE and OSS would have also ensure Germany had to keep larger forces in Europe. I also played down British and Empire forces fighting japan on the Indian Border and then through Burma and the Australian in in Papua New Guinea and the Philippines, which kept UK empire forces out of Europe theatre. Whilst none of us should minimise the achievement of the Red Army, the Allies fought on five fronts in 1944 (Atlantic, Bombing, Africa/Italy, France and Japan) not only engaging large German forces, but also tying down large forces in Germany and Occupied Europe, which could otherwise been deployed on the eastern Front. The equipment and raw materials aid much strengthen the Red Army and Russian manufacturing capability which certainly benefited the Red Army very significantly. That this contribution is seen as nothing much by some ignorant people is shocking really.

James Gruen I beg to differ with your description of the pact, because Germany invaded Poland on Sept. 1, and on Sept. 17 the USSR did the same. The two powers did NOT come to blows over this matter. This implies some degree of collaboration/collusion/cooperation/alliance. I think the left hand knew what the right hand was doing, or vice versa. The odd thing about this arrangement is that poor Finland got dumped into the 'Axis' camp after the fact, because it had to defend itself against Soviet attack. Meanwhile a halo was depicted around Stalin's head because Hitler attacked him. But they were birds of a feather. I once read that Stalin was initially devastated by Hitler's betrayal. Don't try to save the reputation of the USSR. It was founded upon evil and atheistic rebellion. 'The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." '

Let the man take responsibility for his OWN decisions, since he rejects the counsel and appeals of others. Putin may be wedded to Xi's ambition via their 'unlimited partnership', he may satan's dupe, but he is NOT a puppet of US/EU/NATO. If someone provokes us to anger in public and we slug him, and there are witnesses, we are still accountable before the law. We may still be tried and convicted of assault. We cannot say that we were 'made to do it'. Did you not hear Putin's speech on the eve of the invasion? He denied Ukraine's right to exist as a nation. It was an expression of absolute contempt. No wonder that Ukrainian public opinion has hardened considerably. Prior to that speech and the invasion, a negotiated territorial compromise still seemed remotely possible. Russian atrocities and brinkmanship have made it presently impossible. Guess what? The USA is NOT the centre of the universe. When US politicians lift the phrase 'city set on a hill' from Matthew 5:14, they are VIOLATING the sense of Scripture. Scripture makes no reference to America at all. Ukrainians constituted about 24% of the Armed Forces of the USSR, or 8 million troops, yet UKRAINIANS were always at the very front. Russians came behind the first Ukrainian waves. The mass rapes of women were carried out by russians coming after the first waves made up almost exclusively of Ukrainians as of 1943. UUKRAINIANS SAVED RUSSIA’S Nazi A$$ in WWII & still today the RUSSIAN GENOCIDAL NEO NAZIS DEFAME UKRAINE UKRAINE LOST 14 MILLION PEOPLE IN THIS WAR OUT OF A SOVIET TOTAL OF 23 MILLION. (8 million military and 6 million civilian). WHICH MEANS THAT ALL THE OTHER 14 REPUBLICS OF THE USSR ALL TOGETHER LOST A TOTAL OF 9 MILLION PEOPLE. UKRAINE SAVED "russia's" backside in WWII and carried out the VAST MAJORITY of the defeat of Germany. It would have done so without the allied D-Day invasion. YET NEVER A WORD IS SPOKEN OF UKRAINE IN WWII, only the word, "russia, russia, russia, russia..." UKRAINE ALONE LOST 150% OF WHAT THE FIFTEEN OTHER SOVIET “REPUBLICS” LOST ALL TOGETHER 1. THIS MEANS THAT ALL THE OTHER SOVIET REPUBLICS plus “russia” LOST 9 MILLION PEOPLE IN TOTAL… WHEREAS UKRAINE ALL ALONE LOST 14 MILLION PEOPLE. UKRAINE, AS OF LATE 1942 WAS THE WORLD’S EPICENTER OFWORLD WAR II. As of 1943 UKRAINE WAS THE STRATEGIC PRIORITY OF GERMANY IN WWII …AS HITLER ORDERED. 7200 UKRAINIAN TOWNS AND VILLAGES WERE RAZED TO THE EARTH. …THAT’S SEVEN-THOUSAND-TWO HUNDRED… World War two in Europe was essentially a genocidal Tsunami which devastated exclusively UKRAINE, NOT “russia” from West to East (up to Stalingrad on Ukraine’s eastern border) and back again from East to West. (It slightly overflowed Ukraine's northern border at Kursk) As this wave rolled back westward the Germans razed 7,200 Ukrainian towns and villages. They and their populations were obliterated… Yet IGNORAMUSES in the GERMAN GOVERNMENT want to APPEASE "russia" by slitting Ukraine's throat from behind and tossing it to "russia" out of eternal generational guilt for what they did to...(not Ukraine) but rather to the rogue, mafia, illegitimate, unelected, oligarchial, neo-nä/zi DICTATORSHIP of "russia."

Controlling it thoroughly might open up an avenue to the Caucasus, and via to the Caucasus to the Middle East. Apparently a few German troops did advance to somewhere around Grozny, which is past Ukraine and a sort of gateway to the Caucasus, before turning back. The port of Baku in Azerbaijan, on the Caspian Sea, was one of the world's great hubs of oil production, coveted by all major powers. Further south lay the oil fields of Iran and Mesopotamia (Iraq), eventually the Persian Gulf and Arabia itself. To control the main arteries of oil supply would have been an Unholy Grail for Hitler's forces. Had a hook-up been [possible with the Japanese to the east.......... Fortunately that was NOT possible. Sometimes I wonder why God permitted the USSR to survive as long as it did. He is merciful. I guess that still worse evil would have ensued had the Axis powers won.

Politely, Transnistria did exist back then. The borders have changed throughout this region over time, especially regarding fought over territories such as this. It’s been under the umbrella of different countries and names, but the province existed in one form or another. I commented to say though, the inclusion of it specifically on this map is to signify its importance as an Axis controlled territory. I think you might be misreading it as an autonomous state/country equal in weight to that of adjacent Slovakia for example and thinking about it in regards to current status & issues. This a German War map, not a universally accepted map of the time. Slovakia doesn’t have ‘Reichskommissariat’ above it because they were a willing ally and not a forcefully occupied territory. This whole area (including Germany, but especially eastward) was a big mess over border disputes and change in control of territories for a long time. Not just where Nazi or Soviet control is concerned, but amongst themselves for ages. Sorry to be pedantic if you know that already. But so moving on, the German government was very administrative and didn’t just occupy but set up new ‘administrations’ (like German provisional government statehood names) as it expanded control. Hence Reichskomissariat Ostland and Reichskomissariat Ukraine. Re Transnistria- the landmass known as such was part of the Moldavian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic from 1924-1940. Then it fell under Romanian control from 1941-1944. But more specifically than just being under Romanian control, it is likely referring to the ‘Transnistria Governorate’, which was a Romanian-administered territory that had its own specific land/borders. (Again with the administrations.) I don’t know your nationality/knowledge/exposure, but Romania is vastly underplayed as a vital and significant Axis ally (from my American experience). This map is zoomed in and limited, but Transnistria (as in the Axis Governorate) was of great importance on the German chessboard re invasion of Ukraine and as a key positional point on the front against the USSR. A pivotal fought over territory in the war. (Unfortunately, also substantial with Holocaust atrocities.) All that just to put into context why it’s relevant on this map and natural to be alongside the others here, particularly in relation to WW2 conflict affecting Ukraine. Forgive me. I’m a nerd who can’t sleep. I don’t mean anything argumentatively and didn’t agree with everything that was said in the video as far as scope/weight. But if you have interest in the region just thought it might be helpful. Could easily understand confusion given the modern breakaway republic combined with the fact that most everyone posting content has some kind of agenda or at least bias lean, and I’ve had to be so dissecting of basic info & images being shown myself.

UKRAINE concrete undebatable facts from RUSSIAN, NOT Ukrainian archives, which were briefly opened under Boris Yeltsin in 1992 but then quickly re-sealed by Putin: NOT " RUSSIA" but the 15 republics of the USSR lost a total of 23 million. Of that total. Ukraine alone lost 14 million. ONE MILLION RUSSIANS FOUGHT IN NAZI GERMAN UNIFORM IN WWII. OF THESE, 130,000- that 's one hundred thirty thousand RUSSIANS, fought in German Nazi Waffen SS units in WWII. The greatest contingent of foreign WAFFEN SS VOLUNTEERS WAS...RUSSIAN! France, Holland, Estonia, etc had FAR MORE - (and IDEOLOGICALLY CONVINCED TRUE NAZI SS COLLABORATORS than Ukraine. Ukrainians allied with Germany unwillingly to save UKRAINE from the russian socialist genocidal meat grinder. PEOPLE IGNORE the giant MASTODON in the room- ALL THE ALLIES COLLABORATED WITH....? A FAR MORE GENOCIDAL REGIME- WITH SOCIALIST RUSSIA. Yet not a single word is ever whispered in this regard. UKRAINE’S CONTRIBUTION TO THE DEFEAT OF NAZI GERMANY AND the AXIS CAN NEVER BE OVERRATED. AS CHURCHILL WROTE, GERMANY WAS DEFEATED IN UKRAINE, BY UKRAINIANS (NOT IN “RUSSIA”). 67% of All German forces (all German forces worldwide, not just on the Eastern front) including elite and SS troops were fighting & were DESTROYED in… UKRAINE, not in some “russia” or elsewhere. 1st UKRAINAN FRONT 2nd UKRAINAN FRONT 3rd UKRAINAN FRONT 4th UKRAINAN FRONT 5th UKRAINAN FRONT comprising 7.4 million troops THAT’S SEVEN-POINT-FOUR-MILLION UKRAINIAN NOT “Russian” TROOPS DEFEATED GERMANY and saved a certain “Russia” and the USSR FROM GERMANY. Armenian SSR (Soviet Socialist Republic) 2. Azerbaijan SSR 3. Byelorussian SSR 4. Estonian SSR 5. Georgian SSR 6. Kazakh SSR 7. Kyrgyz SSR 8. Latvian SSR 9. Lithuanian SSR 10. Moldavian SSR 11. Russian SFSR (Soviet Federal Socialist Republic) 12. Tajik SSR 13. Turkmen SSR 14. Ukrainian SSR 15. Uzbek SSR The USSR LOST A TOTAL OF 23 MILLION PEOPLE. UKRAINE LOST 14 MILLION PEOPLE.

No,the part of the USSR that in numbers suffered the most in the war was Russia. Among Russians 6,750,000 miltary, 7,200,000 civilians for a total of 13,950,000 people were killed. For Ukraine the comparable figures are 1,650,000 military, 5,200,000 civilians, for 6,850,000 total killed. Because of a greater population Russia's losses were below Ukraine's per capita at 12.7% to Ukraine's 16.3%. But if considered that way the massive Belorussian's losses would be the largest 25.3% of their population. So no,while Ukraine's total of killed was high,it was no way higher than Russia's. And even it's per capita figure was less than Belarus's.

You just forget that the Soviet Union was a Russian empire encompassing many different ethnic and cultural groups including Ukrainians and Belarusians.

I can understand that many Ukranians thought Nazi Germany was the lesser evil at that time. However, this does not explain why they thought that exterminating Ukranian Jews and Roma was an acceptable thing to do. If they were only doing it to express layalty to Germany, then they were acting like slaves of a new master. And if they really believed that those people should have been killed, then they simply and truly were Nazis in ideology and deed. Either way, it doesn't paint a pretty picture and it does raise the question : what values do the Ukranian people live by truly?

Funny unhistorical lesson of history. The WW2 started with the attack of Italy to Ethiopia. And then with the alliance between France UK and Hitler under Munich agreement, where they gave him for free Sudetenland, a huge part of Czechoslovakia (without asking Czechoslovakia). In the meanwhile, before that, Westerns left Hitler to assist dictator Franco to beat democrats in Civil war of Spain. That's how WW2 started. Plus, few of us know that Germany and Russia signed an agreement and they BOTH attacked Poland within weeks of each other. But the story is told that Russia saved the Jews in ww2. Go figure. "Ukraine" as a whole total population may have "suffered" more than Russia, but it was the collaborationists who gained, a top small percent of the population because the overtake of Ukraine for Germany absorbtion entailed depopulation. Meaning a partial "liquidation" of the massive population, retaining "essential workers" to do the framing and administrative jobs, leaving an "entitled" collaborationist bureaucratic arm of the Nazi empire.

No... not balanced at all. He needs to go back school to understand what an alliance means. It's ramifications and consequences for formally being in one. And to know the difference between a formal alliance and a non-aggression pact. A huge difference. If the Soviet Union and Germany were in an alliance, not only would the West have declared war on Germany, after invading Poland, but by de jure... hell and de facto too, they would have also been at war with the Soviet Union. That's how an ALLIANCE works. This clown is rewriting history by saying as such. And so much more, Britain didn't see itself at war until mid 1940??? huh? Didn't mention "Lebensraum" once. Kind of an important word when it comes to Hitler's philosophy. It was also about oil too... and turns out even more so and the change in priority for Stalingrad. Oh... "but the Russian people didn't suffer nearly as much as the Ukrainians at the hands of the Nazis". Just to categorically isolate "suffering" as a quantitative value for either Russians or Ukrainians is just asinine. He has an agenda, it's obvious.

@@wgreiter I mean, Belorusia and Ukraine did take the biggest hit from Germany, as it was the first war grounds of the USSR. Not to mention the persecution of people by Nazis. In a way, Russia managed to avert the same damage from its lands. Which is not to say that they had it easy. When Soviets retreated from Ukraine and Belorusia, they destroyed infrastructure to spoil Germany's plans. So, it might be not that far from the truth to say that Ukraine and Belorusia suffered more, considering all that I mentioned plus the famine after the war (again, it hit the entire USSR, but those two countries were devastated more from the war, having serious consequences). When you look at all of those things, it becomes less of a mystification.

@@andrewlight3239 Very valid points... I would have a hard time disagreeing with you. My issue is with the good professor's clear bias against Russia (imo). Not just in this regard, of "who suffered most" but with other points in the video. You can die as a Ukrainian and die as a Soviet, just like you can die as a Texan and die as a U.S. American. Why mutually exclude one from the other, unless you're attempting to trivialize one particular ethnicity's effort in said war? In WWII, the Ukrainians and the Russians had a common bond and they died together. To downplay that and subjectively count "coo" is just irresponsible as an educated historian.
@andrewlight3239
@andrewlight3239 2 года назад
@@wgreiter I think he wants to show something that many westerners don't know or heard of. There is a lack of understanding of the Eastern Europe and different people/ethnicities/nations living there. Like, how much did you know about Ukraine before the war 2014? And if you tell me that you know much, firstly I can give you a quiz, secondly and most importantly not everyone might be like you. From my experience, meeting people from the west - most of them saw the Eastern Europe, especially Ukraine or Belorusia, as just Russians named differently or something similar. The same as many people don't know much about the Middle East, Asia (not China, India, or Japan). And yet there are many unique cultures and histories, and their perception of themselves might vary significantly from the basic European/American point of view. I am from Ukraine, btw. And it happened so, that I studied international relations and history. Not my biggest interest, though. I am more interested in literature, fiction, and traveling. Yet, it is all kinda interrelated. You see, most stories and cultures we know are from either imperialist, most powerful nations, or from modern cultural influence. And the voice of those oppressed or weak or marooned in geopolitical madness is often not heard. So, while I agree that this video doesn't cover the half of what happened, I won't be so hasty to claim this person's motivation. Technically, it doesn't say anything wrong. Also, technically, it doesn't specify much. Maybe, it is a lack of time. Maybe, it is some political agenda. But what history and good fantasy fiction taught me is that judging without knowing all is rarely accurate. And even when you know enough, be cautious with conclusions where people are concerned. In the end, I am personally happy that Ukrainian history and culture crawls out of the shadows. And so, in a way, I am biased about this video. As it does show something new to people, not familiar with Ukraine. P.s. I agree that it could've been done better. Maybe, he has other more profound videos. I dunno.
