Ready for takeoff? Glen Powell and J.J. Abrams invite you to experience the ride of a lifetime this May when #TheBlueAngels soars into IMAX. #FilmedForIMAX
Anyone who hasn't seen Blue Angels at an airshow - I can't recommend it enough. You don't have to be an aviation enthusiast but the flybys and sounds are an assault on your senses. Makes the hair on the back of my neck stand every time.
Flying down to visit family in Texas, will be seeing them as NAS JRB for the 1st(ish) time (saw them practicing at McMinnville while flying past myself, he requested back to PDX and was there within 5 minutes. I had barely gone a few miles in that time).
As a USAF Veteran, I have seen the Thunderbirds several times. I also had the pleasure of seeing the The Blue Angels, The British Red Arrows, and The Italian Frecce Tricolori. I will be front and center to see the Blue Angels movie. You never leave any of those shows unsatisfied and unhappy. My wish is also to see the Canadian Snowbirds.
The Gatineau, QC. airshow this year in Sept. will feature the USAF Thunderbirds, RAF Red Arrows 60th year, and the RCAF Snowbirds, CF-18 Demo Team (RCAF 100 year anniv.).
As someone who is former Navy, and we know one of the pilots personally, this movie is going to be one of the best recruiting tools the Navy has ever produced. GO NAVY!
@@redactedrider7606lmfao, that was the 80s, 40 YEARS AGO. I can't imagine being dumb enough to think military propaganda works on modern kids with an education unlike you lot that fall for every simple-minded scam and cult in the book without question.
@@redactedrider7606I still remember seeing a Navy recruiter sitting at a desk inside my movie theater when Top Gun came out in 1986. I think they also did that for Hunt For Red October in 1989.
Ever since I was a little kid (20 now) my dad would take my sister and I to the Miramar airshow in San Diego. Such a great experience that I still remember to this day.
As an Air Force dude who's a major aviation nerd, and as someone who's favorite jet since the toddler years has been the Viper, I have to state that the Blue Angels put on a much better show. @@jrftworth
Negative. The press literally lied. most footage is CGI on top of other planes. Even the cockpit shots are "real" as the pilots reactions to g etc, but the background is CGI. There is a video called "No CGI is just invisible CGI", i recommend@@mikedalgliesh1377
I hope this movie also highlights the maintainers. These are some of the oldest F/A-18's still flying, and there is incredible pressure to meet every scheduled performance. Every person involved with this team is of the highest caliber. This will be amazing to watch!
The aircraft they fly are showroom quality. You would not find a spec of dirt on one. Now when you go to a MCAS, the FA-18s there are another story : )
The Blues got me into aviation. I watched them as a kid through the 90s and the joined the Marines and went to avionics I strand school in NAS Pensacola. Watching them day in and day out was an absolute dream. The Naval Air museum is the best in the world, and definitely a must if you love aviation. Luckily at one of my duty stations I was selected to fly with the Blues, Fat Albert Airlines. They sat me looking out on top of the bird. Best airshow of my life. Semper Fi!
Seen them a couple of times, but one time stood out. It was actually their final practice before a show in Annapolis (I work at the Gift Shop there). Got on my ex's boss's boat in the middle of the Severn River (right next to the Naval Academy). At one point they snuck up on us by following the river (not crossing it). Out of nowhere they blew past/over us at an incredibly low altitude. Beyond words, will never forget it.
I've seen them perform in four different types and they never fail to amaze. I had the distinct pleasure and honor of meeting Cdr. Frank Weisser (USN, Retired), a two-time Blue Angels team member, when he delivered the #5 solo Legacy Hornet to our local aviation museum. These guys are truly artists at what they do.
In my opinion, the F-4 Phantom II really was the best. Those planes are big, and incredibly loud. Maybe it was because that was my first Blue Angels show in person, and I was just a kid, but the awe that inspired in me never seems to fade.
@@dougrobinson8602 The Phantom is also my favorite. Big and visceral, a Mach 2 bludgeon in a fleet of spears. The others I've seen were the F-11F, A-4 and the Legacy Hornet. I saw the F-11 when I was a Cub Scout (60 years ago) and still remember how graceful it was.
Saw this in the theater and it was spectacular! Absolutely amazing cinematography and audio work, great soundtrack, and awesome storytelling following outgoing and incoming team members. Loved the look behind the blue curtain into everything the whole organization puts into their mission! Bravo!
As a former Air Force guy, I admire the Blue Angels a lot. My dad worked for McDonnell Douglas when I was a kid, so I have a soft spot in my heart for the Hornet! Something about those blue and gold F/A-18s that put on a great show. But I still prefer the Thunderbirds and the F-16!
Back in 1991, I drove from Michigan all the way to San Diego to visit my relatives and sight see. My uncle took me to the Miramar NAS (Featured in Top Gun) to see the big air show and it was pretty amazing. They had the F-14, F-15, F-16, the Harrier and even the F-117 which had just been recently unveiled to the public. But the Blue Angels were definitely the star attraction. And not only was the main event awesome but I was actually able to watch them practice days before the show because they were practicing near the city. At one point, I was driving down the freeway and got so caught up in watching them, I almost had an accident. Glad I survived long enough to catch the Air Show that weekend. Haha. Anyway, I never get tired of watching them fly and am really looking forward to this film. I just hope my local IMAX shows it cuz they usually only do movies nowadays.
I did one of my Navy reenlistments on Fat Albert back in 2011-12. The G’s where too much that we couldn’t do the actual oath while it was flying. Had to wait till we landed. Great experience, now I’m getting ready to retire.😢
This reminds me a lot of "The Magic of Flight", which also was made for IMAX and has the Blue Angels Seeing that Glen Powell worked on this makes me really excited
Hope they'll be releasing a CD movie of it sometime in the future for us Blue Angels fans to have and rewatch at will. The teaser shown was amazing. Can't hardly imagine how stunning the whole movie will be.
I'm so excited for this. I grew up near NAS Pensacola and saw them several times as a kid. I was in the Air Force for 12 years, then worked on NASP as a civilian after. One of my projects was post hurricane repair of the Blue Angels hangar and it never got old watching them launch. We got an air show a couple of times a week while they were on station, and one of their low altitude flyovers was right over our office. One day I was in the hangar offices when the female pilot came in after a flight. Everyone was cheering and I was told after we left that it was her first flight with the team. Pretty cool stuff.
AWESOME, I can't wait too see this, and I hope to see them one day in my country, together with our acrobatic team of the Italian Air Force, the "Frecce Tricolori"(they are simply magnificent)! Greetings to our American friends from Italy!!!🇮🇹❤️🇺🇸🪖🛫🔥
I lived in El Centro a year and a half…that’s their winter home. And every day, twice a day, six days a week for two months, it was an Airshow! Can’t wait to catch my hometown team again!
My family and I visited Pensacola decades ago. I loved jets. My Dad tried to get us onto the base LOL. We ended up at the beach (not detained) and one of the solo pilots cruised along where the ocean met the beach. Impossibly low. We felt the jet wash roll over us. It was amazing. Can't wait to see this film!
Amazing. Grew up in soCal, so was lucky enough to see the Blue Angels at the base in SD when I was a kid. I know there are other groups now that do air shows, but I feel that the Blue Angels really set the bar and that they’re the team that all pilots wish to be a part of.
I'm from the Puget Sound area in Washington State. We get the Blue Angels in every year for Seattle's SeaFair festival. They're an amazing show. You know, for a bunch of mop-jockey Airedales... [I'm an Army cavalry veteran... by definition ALL Navy personnel are lesser mortals 😉] Jokes aside, while the Blue Angels are a dog and pony show, what they do is dangerous and demanding work with precisely zero room for error. And all these pilots are carrier-qualified, the equivalent of landing on a postage stamp in the middle of the ocean. **I** can't do that and while I might talk smack about them, I do respect anybody who can.
Saw it on a real 1:43:1 IMAX big screen, and it was amazing. Big props to the music director - especially for including The Killers and "All These Things That I've Done". It didn't necessarily make that much sense in the trailer, but it did when I saw the movie where pretty much the entire length of the song set a tone for the scene.
At 12 years old Mom took me to see the Blue Angels at Brunswick NAS Maine…flying A4 Skyhawks…still have the signed poster! I joined the USAF at 17 and retired 28 years later…seen a lot of jets, air shows, world wide and the Blue Angels are still the best out there! Sorry Thunderbirds…I do love me some F16s but Angels are Bad A** in the Hornet! Lookin forward to this IMAX!
Salute! The pyramids, the waterfalls, and other wonders of the world - here is yet another marvel of time and space with humanity at it's best. Only the best rise above the rest in the blue angels. Breathtaking. Fly on you beautiful merge of man and machine, with unity of team.
air force dude here. Love the Viper, love the Thunderbirds... the Blue Angels are way better when it comes to their show. ten times as exciting. Most thunderbirds pilots I've met are full of themselves, Blues guys and gals aren't the same for some reason.@@robertmillwee6409
@@gregdanzer7994 Yeah, "Woke" is just another name for Critical Theory, which was developed for the purpose of weakening a target nation, dividing it, and eventually collapsing it, paving the way for a new Communism.
@@YouLoveMrFriendlyIt's proper acronym is DIE as that's all the policy has already brought to the Titan submersible who boasted they would not hire a white guy for safety.
The USAF needs to up their game. Over the decades I've seen multiple documentaries about the Blue Angels. Can't think of even one about the Thunderbirds. It's a shame because those guys rock, too!
This should be good. I remember sitting on my dad’s rooftop and the solo pilots would flyby over the house so low you could see the pilot. That was back in the A4 Skyhawk days. We lived right across the field from the municipal airport they flew at. My dad was a police officer and he worked event security so we would get to go out and check out the planes after everyone was gone. Pretty cool standing next to one on the runway. Those days are long gone but cool memories nonetheless.
I wish I would’ve known my love for aviation at a younger age. Maybe could’ve had a career flying. Completely into flight simming now with MSFS and DCS. Better late than never i reckon
Blue Angels have my respect! They are one of the best group of pilots in the world. Said that, try to know the brazilian pilots from "Esquadrilha da fumaça" (Smoke Squad). They also make things happen in the air, flying their T-29.
Gonna see the Blues for the 4th time in ages months. I’ve known about them for a while, but since I REALLY started becoming smart with aviation 6 years ago, I had to go.
Like the first pilot, i was 4 years old when i saw the Blue Angels for the first time and thats all i ever wanted to do. Sadly i was unable to accomplish that dream. Cant wait for this to come out and to watch
It was good to see Frank in this trailer. He is a good dude. He is missed in Pensacola. Paul Crowder is an amazing director and super cool guy. He did Chasing Mavericks and was the original drummer in Flogging Molly.
