Interestingly, it’s way more than just shy or bold with parrots or any bird. I love Kiwi and have never commented on this channel because most bird owners “humanize” them and hope their ideal is real. It’s not in actuality. I’ve had the joy of owning many parrots, owls, hawks, eagles, finches, crows, and even sparrows during my studies. What happens between bird and human is not necessarily shared between birds of different species. A bird will definitely latch onto you and know you and trust you for years. What they are actually doing is, teaching you how to be with them. Not you teaching them. They mimic to gain your trust and relax since you’re nice to them and protect them. You’re important to them for survival. Notice how the Cockatoo didn’t like or accept Kiwi as a friend? They’re both humanized to different people. Birds get along in the wild or they fight. Or just indifferent. They’re competitive in the wild and no human changes that. As soon as Kiwi who’s pampered wanted to be friends with the cockatoo, the cockatoo didn’t like him. Sure, put them together long enough, they’ll accept each other but they’re different species. If they were the same species they’d understand each other and leave the human out of their interaction. In captivity though, fed and pampered, they’ll find it much easier and show off for reward sake alone. Birds are very smart and will adapt to whatever situation they’re in. The whole time knowing what their owner’s construe as right or wrong. No biting, for instance. Tap their beak, they know biting is wrong. Then taming and training is simple. They’ll trust you, snuggle with you, and be a real friend. Introduce a new bird of a different species, they go on defense. Unless like Kiwi who thinks now he’s not a bird anymore. The cockatoo knows he’s dominant and probably confused that Kiwi doesn’t seem to know that. Cockatoos have their own mental problems in captivity, noted by how they pick off their belly feathers or worse. They’re generally not social with other birds and can barely stand their owners. African Greys are totally human loving birds and by far the smartest of them all. Conures, parrokeets, amazons, fall somewhere in between and given the chance will fly away to freedom, leaving the confused human sad. I know birds very well. And I know people who’d like to think their captive birds love them too. And they’re right, birds are loving by nature. But they instinctively want to fly away. They’re birds after all.
That doggy is so cute and so calm. I live with 4 dogs my roommates dogs. and when the dogs come in my room to visit. my Indian ringneck starts screaming at them. and hurting there poor ears.
Omg! This was too cute. I think Chewy is going to need a little more time. It's so nice all the babies are getting socialized! I have days when I'm so sad I can barely breathe but I turn on kiwi's videos and I forget about my troubles. I think he's a very special little feather baby and your relationship with him something special.
Have you spoken with your doctor, and a psychologist, about feeling so sad? I felt like you, but meds and talk therapy have allowed me to feel happy again.
This has to be the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. My heart exploded when both babies waved with their little feet’s. Love you sweet chicken boy❤❤❤ Chewy is just too precious ❤❤❤
I was surprised they didn't attack each other, particularly when Chewy was in close proximity to Tamara. When I put an ornament of a bird next to the cage where my Senegal parrot is, it lowers its head and starts growling at it. lol.
Haha my bird does that when I'm near her cage. I was trying to clean off my dresser. because my Indian ringneck had thrown her food out of the cage. from one end of my dresser to the other and was getting mad at me when I tried to clean it up.
@@marydupureur1947 kiwi has done that to people as a warning “leave me be” Kiwi is very happy and playful in the mornings compared to the evenings. So anything new I try to do it once he wakes up
Such a cute video… it just shows how well socialised they both are. Kiwi goes out alot with you and experiences new things all the time… it takes time (chewy’s species are more cautious) chewy was very cool considering he was in your territory Maybe visit chewy’s place next time
@@TamarasBlueChicken There is no such thing as a video being to long when it comes to u and Kiwi! I could watch u guys for hours. This video was so awesome. Tysm for sharing it with us.
Kiwi is so sweet, going to be showing him around the house and where all the goodies are kept and get lots of kisses and then oh my goodness in there as well. Your little family is growing, and the dog is just going to hey I'm just here hanging out congratulations
Chewy's like "you have food, but you aren't mom." what would be highly amusing is if they learn each other's tricks from each other rather than their hoomin beans. I have a bad cold rn, so animal videos and amusing stories are keeping me company.
Kiwi's had such a fairy tale life so far. Cockatoos are super cute and super smart too but can also be very moody. Hopefully, Kiwi has a new friend and they don't bump heads too much. 😂
Just... Unbelievably adorable. I hope that one day I could have a parrot- play date for my girl. Also didn't realize you had a Bull Terrier, that is so f****** awesome.
Chewy will come out of his shell eventually. Their meet and greet went very well. Just give Chewy some time, and he'll be doing that famous Cockatoo mumble.
Love it .Chewy is a beautiful parrot and very friendly. KIwi is very friendly, but it seems if Kiwi is ignored, he'll PECK ON HIM. They are both so cute. and Rex is so friendly..
They've each got their own unique personalities, and I feel like this was a parrot version of a culture shock for them too haha they just need time to get to know each other & learn each other's "language" ❤️
I happened to comment yesterday on Gizmo's channel to do a collab with you and they replied saying they'd love it!!! And here I'm today seeing a collab with chewy ☺️🤗
Just found your channel last month…and omg this is the cutest thing ever. I can’t! I do pet care for a living and I soooo wish someone with birdies needed our services! I need an in person fix!!!
aww that moment when they waved at each other at the same time . Coco - I don't kiss on the first date kiwi - wanna treat treat? well maybe.. 💙 They are so cute.
Omg! What a great way to start my day! It has made me feel so good watching Kiwi and Chewy.... and by the looks of things they are going to be great friends! Happy New Year Tamara and family xxx
