Fly fisherman here. I've had the privilege of catching hybrids on a private lake on a fly rod. That's one of the best targets for sight fishing. They are monsters, sometimes heavier than an average bass. And they'll hit any thing over their nests. IDK know how they taste compared to an average sunny but so fun catching them. GREAT VIDEO!!!

If Ty retired from monsters to live on the pond with the old man I would not be mad. Maybe in person not the most exhilarating but the vibes are impeccable.

Those were some enormous bluegill. I was really surprised to see on Catch em all channel with Zac how aggressive bluegill are. He has indoor & outdoor tanks & I remember seeing on one of his videos a tank containing bluegills & other predatory fish & the bluegills looked like they were the most aggressive fish in that mixed tank.

I envy you so much Tyler I lost my Dad in 2016 but this video is nothing short of beautiful with you and your Dad together thank you for sharing it with us.

Yesterday, I watched a video from Bamabass. You are saying, "Bluegill that Bass are scared of," I would not have believed that without seeing the video yesterday. They had put, Moby, "...the most aggressive Bass on the planet," taken from their 350 Gallon Aquarium to their backyard pond. The Bluegill they had in that backyard pond was pretty big, yet Moby was over double the size of the Bluegill, the Bluegill was nesting and chasing Moby away. If those are 2 1/2 - 3 lbs. Bluegill, they can chase away a 6 lbs. Bass. Not only do they fight the best pound per pound, Bluegill can be pretty tough, especially when nesting.

I used to catch bluegill that size back when I was a kid . From a kids hands those bluegills was two hands tall with your fingers spread wide as they could open . Some good eating . Bluegill have the better tast than Catfish , Crapy and Bass .

My Grandfather caught a blue gill about the same size years ago. That was the only time in my life that gramps unhooked and placed a blue gill back in the water 😢 miss that man😢

I have captured a few that I had to release out of respect , a few crappies as well. When you drop down to 4-6lb floro you think you have a 20 lb bass . They will give you a tussle . Nice fish!

My friend in Illinois live on a farm complete with a farm pond. The bass are huge and the Bluegill are some type of hybrid, big as a dinner plate and the darkest purple color you've ever seen!

Bluegill/sunfish look really cool.

When we were kids my brother caught a bluegill the size of a dinner plate. Had we but known, but we were little kids and "sunnies" were trash fish, fun to catch but only to throw back. My dad said "you sure? It's pretty big." but we said, "It's a sunny!" and threw it back. (Dad was not a fisherman). Was probably some sort of a record, at least for the area if not the state. We're talking 65 years ago.

As a kid we'd buy crappy cheap canned dog food and poke big holes in the ends with a church key. Then take some string and hang to over the water. Flies would land and eat that and lay their eggs, in a few days maggots would crawl around and fall in the water. Big ol bluegill would wait under that can for free meal. Made for great fishing under that can, we'd catch some real monksters.

I went to a farm pond by invitation back in the 70's and we caught about 30 just like that. Grain fed. They are tasty!!! The ol guy needed us to reduce their numbers.

Man I remember when I was a kid we use to go to our cottage up in Wisconsin and all u needed was a shiny silver hook no bait just the hook and a split shot we would spend all day catching bluegills that size. Now over 35 years later your lucky to catch one that’s over 6 inches. Nice fishing video those were some nice gills man!!!

Wow those are the biggest i have ever seen. I live on the east coast of Massachusetts and our sun fish are no where near that size.
