In 2023, BMW ranks the 3rd most reliable brand. Only beaten by Toyota and Lexus. More reliable than Honda. This generation of 1 series is extremely reliable. Don't buy the previous generation. After this generation don't buy the 1 series if you love BMWs. You can buy them for your sugar baby. This is because they'll be front wheel drive. From 2017, get the two series upwards. Also from 2017 upwards, BMW cleaned their game, refined their engines and are making some of the best engines ever in their line up. If money is no object. Get the 2023 stuff. There's a reason Toyota is using BMW engines.

This car is great.. the gearbox, the rarewheel, the reliability is everything..very reliable…Very is the word. Just know your car and what it needs.msport even comes with everything.. the M140i/135 is even a proper car..
Its hard to make a Bimmer Boy love sth out of Bimmer world. id still take Bimmer 1 series over any JDM/European hot hatches especially the M135i with N55 I6 or M 140i with B58 I6 both with 6-speed manual 🙌🙌
Kenyans kwa comments - differentiate “rear” from “rare” 😅 They are pronounced differently and have different meanings. I’m not choosing violence, kwa upole tu 😂 REAR wheel drive, REAR seats, it’s RARE to find a REAR wheel drive hatchback
The unreliability especially in the Kenyan Market can't be overlooked! I don't know if it's the mechanics. The flat bed reputation can't just be a myth!
However, BMW Parts are not cheap. You must be someone who is ready to cough out money whenever your mechanic gives you a call I would rather go for a toyota Auris coz It would probably last longer than the rest in its class. Its a Toyota anyway.
