I guess my biggest issue with this is that it costs $30k more than an X5m or X6m, but is no faster. Is the interior really worth that extra cost? The exterior styling certainly isnt IMO…
@@Driver20418 ive seen one in person, it’s about the same size as an X6, maybe a few inches longer. The X7 is the biggest BMW suv. Plus the XM’s sloping roof line and battery underneath means cargo capacity is about the same as an X6. The X7 has about 25 cubic feet of cargo capacity inside too, gives it enough room for a third row of seats unlike the XM.
It’s a status car. No more, no less. Just like a GLE 63 would be faster than a G63 - yet look at the price difference. Not sure why so many are shocked with this. Think of this as BMW’s equivalent to the G Wagon. It’ll make much more sense.
I saw one of these IRL at the local BMW dealership and I agree the exterior styling is polarizing. In terms of performance, would love to see a side-by-side with an Audi RSQ8.
I totally get the XM although some don’t. It’s not just about performance, it’s about exclusivity for the wealthy. People keep comparing this to the X5M, when the X5 starts its life at 60k. That’s not what this buyer wants. BMW said it themselves, that the XM is for someone who’s in the market for a G Wagen.
If that's the goal, then it comes at the expense of decades of //M reputation for performance-above-all design - and the XM still doesn't go far enough. Where's the i7 rear theatre screen, or crystal trims? It just feels incomplete either as a performance or style product.
im thinking about buying one what is good what is bad im asking as u owned it these review vids cant really tell u how it was after 6 months \@@nordicst
@@nordicstI think if my self as an enthusiast too and I would probaly buy the XM if I had the money. Just seems cool lol and if you have the money why not? Probably will buy an m5 cs first. However the Porsche cayenne turbo gt is the best suv in its class so it's probably gonna be thag one instead of the XM
This is like an AMG and a Maybach I love the way BMW has maxed out the performance while also being so luxurious. I am also so glad BMW kept the V8 even though they added the hybrid. This is so good I love this.
I drive an X5, and although mine is modded and quick, after test driving an XM, I'll be trading up soon. XM is NOT a practical car. Luggage area is smaller than x5, seating is more spacious. Suspension is harder (according to my daughter who sat in the rear). The car is darn obnoxious. But compared to the X5 this is just bigger and way more badass. The exhaust note is fabulous with the flaps open and its actually quite agile. I had a hard time deciding between the m760 e and the XM, but I ultimately decide that the XM is more memorable
I've been a fan for some time now, I don't know how you control yourself driving some of those cars, I would be tempted to floor it from time to time. Keep it up and the horn toot is a nice touch.
People forget how hated the X6 was when it was first released, and look how successful it’s become. Most people struggle with something out the norm.i for one love how different it is. It’s testing the norm. I can tell you that the XM Label is another level and while that has an MSRP of $189k, it can be bought for $165k with discounts. That’s significantly cheaper than a G63 and it has a lot more performance.
That ZF has typically been well regarded in the M cars - interesting thought about the trans response seeming delayed - wondering if that’s just software aiming for luxe vs issues with hybrid integration . The upcoming hybrid M5 hopefully will have more aggressive transmission tuning.
i like the interior and i agree they should have put the big screen in this .but the outside has so much going on i think i would take rsq8 over it or u could get used x5m with same performance
Hi Miles, loving your videos however, I miss the old POV position, it seems to be more realistic and enjoyable to watch compared to the current position, it’s just super high and it's not giving us the feedback of the vehicle's driving experience. Have a great day!
Every automaker stares in amazement at the success of the Lamborghini Urus. BMW wants a piece of that "Designer SUV" high-end market and the X7 wasn't enough. The XM is a large-sized lifestyle vehicle that's too big and overstyled, looking to my eyes like an armored personnel carrier instead of a street focused fashon-able Urus competitor. The Urus fits nicely in the typical 15-car garage of the moneyed types BMW is after. The XM might work, but some details have a "Mad Max" vibe, like the handiwork of a temp-agency stylist.
The more I've thought about this vehicle, the more I think it's suffering from either "not enough" or "too much." If you want it to be a dedicated M car, it should be more aggressive - shifting, handling, etc. If you want a style icon, give up the M badge and gussy up the interior even more with i7 tech, crystal trims, and at least a cohesively wild design (not this patchwork). The XM that we have here isn't "bad" - it just misses whichever mark BMW had set for it.
@@MilesPerHr You nailed it, Miles! BMW has mishandled the M branding. The XM looks like it was designed by the smorgasbord committee, too many elements that don't mesh well. Even if it sells well I feel the XM has hurt the M badge, turning it from total performance into a designer "lifestyle" brand for people who buy cars for image/ego use.
I really think some people would buy this since they might don't want a X5/X6M since it might be "toooo common for them" and not the X7 since it's more bigger and the XM it's like a "X8" which it's a sweet spot for those type of people.
One thing that’s super frustrating to me about all new BMW M’s (and even some M Perf models like the 2023 M340i) is that the upshifts are artificially enhanced. In the G80 M3, for example, it’s all fake upshift thumps that never come thru the exhaust. I can’t tell for sure but it seems this is the same way and like from the outside there’d be no exhaust farts. Miles, one thing that might be interesting and worth buying is a Carista dongle ($100) and you can use it to disable the fake noise in BMW’s - they’re the worst offenders. Might be interesting to hear the difference between it on and off, especially when you specifically mention it!
3.9 in a big suv like this, is amazing, the same as the bmw says, its probably faster than that, i can guestimate and say its a 3.7 or a 3.6 sec 0 to 60 car easily
This car looks sick in the inside, The outside, ehhhhh i don’t really like the outside. But when is the porsche cayenne turbo gt review? You told me it was going to be out in late february, guess their late.
The Turbo GT loan has been cancelled on me 3 times! I'm more than a little bummed. I've still pestering Porsche, but at this point, with the refreshed Cayenne coming soon, I doubt they'll give it to me now...
Ha! "I've got the key" or "let's fire it up"? Both are at risk of being impossible when key fobs all become apps and there are no "start/stop" buttons or physical keys on EVs. 😭
for 160000? Who is buying this? you have to be mega rich to buy this, and why would you? The M8 would handle way better and looks way better. Personally I think it is an insult to the M brand
@@Fantasmazzzz if its looking like a cube in your eyes you might need to vist a eye doctor and need to tell them you saw a BMW car and it looked like a cube in your eyes
