nl i think you have a blind spot when it comes to green beetle. usually it’s best to have your strongest unit in the front but for some reason that beetle always sticks the back slot

Y'know, Bacta has made me realize that there's not a lot of purely offensive scaling in the game. Just think about it. Lvl 1 Cows, Snails, and Mammoths give +1/+2 (a defense-focused buff); Rabbits, Tropical Fish, Beavers, and Shrimps only buff health; and Ducks & Beetles only buff shop health. In addition, many buffing units provide even buffs to attack and defense (e.g., Flamingos, Dromedaries, Monkeys, Chickens, Seals, Dragons, and every summon-buffing animal except Horse), and most self-buffers buff themselves evenly (e.g., Buffalo, Bison, Hippo, Boar, _sort of_ Dog). Also, all food buffs are evenly distributed btw attack and defense by default. This skew means that, if you're using every method of scaling evenly, you're likely to max your HP *way* before you can max your attack. In fact, the only 4 offensive buffs I can think of come from the Bluebird (a T1 unit with bad position requirements and only single unit +1 attack scaling unless it's leveled up), the Horse (a T1 unit that gives +1 attack to summons at level 1), the Dodo (a T2 unit that gives +x attack, where X = half the Dodo's attack at level 1), and the T-Rex (a T6 unit that gives +2/+1 to the whole party at level 1). (You could _arguably_ include the T2 Peacock as well.) All of those units appear toward the beginning and end of a run, which means that there is a serious dearth of attack-only scaling in the middle of the game. As such, I feel that I keep seeing people create beefy animals without the attack necessary to eliminate other high-HP units (such as the Bacta Boar in this episode). I wonder whether this is intentional. On the one hand, I can see that people are frequently shut down by a lack of sufficient attack scaling in the midgame. On the other hand, I could imagine that limiting attack scaling would increase the average unit's time-to-kill. This, in turn, would increase the usefulness of Hurt and Attack triggers, which I think is sorely needed. However, I could also see someone proposing that the next content pack should include both a) midgame attack scalers, and b) shop foods that exclusively buff attack or defense. I think having at least one of these options would add a lot more variety to the game.

My favorite strategy lately is to use a self-buffing blue bird and a green beetle/dromedary with another, frozen blue bird. You get attack every turn, and HP on the frozen one and whenever the battles start to get close you cash out the combine on the blue birds and put it at the front. Then you have a HUUUUUGE Frontline unit that also buffs your back line, a well-fed green beetle, and three flex positions.

I think for bacta to work, it needs to be a unit you don't already have, and especially not one that you're already buffing.
