Beautiful machine! I'll be on the lookout for one here in the New York area!

@maryhartline Yes - That's no problem - the Expert will play 20" records and i do have a Pathe adaptor that fits so that may happen soon - it is available on Marston CD's now - with most of the other Complete Pathed Operas too

This is a wonderful machine! You are so fortunate to have the wooden tone arm, an up grade that he dealer would charge about $20 for when the machine was new. Having an all wood horn and tone arm was supposed to produce a more pleasant tone. I inherited a Sonora Grand when I was 15, in 1970. It had the standard metal tone arm that played both vertical and lateral records. However, the sound box is heavy and will quickly destroy records far faster than a Victor. Sonoras are getting hard find.

EMG's or Expert Machines aren't well known here - they made approx 500 EMG's and maybe 350 Expert machines and due to their size and materials many haven't survived .

when i hear the name sonora i think of a swedish company with the same name that made records, portable gramophones and gramophone needles back in the 1930s 40s and early 50s

i have been wanting a version of roamin in the gloaming on victor for a while, am i right in thinking it is single sided, but the sonora is looking great, if i knew the exact size and shape of the grille i could have made one for you

Sonoras, of any kind, aren't too common here. In 40 years I've seen no more than 20-30, maybe, for sale. They were expensive, mine cost $279.00 in 1918, about $4K today!!! Only the most advanced collectors might have the most expensive models. Must confess, never heard of an EMG gramophone until watching your video, they are really unknown here, damn it.....
