Only Kendrick can put in a history lesson in the same track as calling one of the biggest hip hop stars in the word a PDF file downloader and have it play at NBA games.
@@redisthecoolestcolourbro we got Amazon to live stream a kid crip walking to it to millions of people for free. And that was far off my bingo card for the year lol
Kendrick really showed a masterclass in making diss records in the span of a week. The timing of it all, the rebuttals, the variety of instrumentation, flows, voice inflections, the overall different feeling each give.. I’ve never seen anything like this ever
@@californiaredd8646The only rapper EVER to win one. Drake hates it so he belittles it. His diss somebody give Kendrick a Grammy speaks to him belittling Kendrick’s his 17 Grammys.
Drake fans kept complaning that they couldn't dance and vibe with Kendrick's music, and he said say less. And put out a classic California hyphy vibe dance track. You should also react to the video, it is a a full fledge California (spefically LA ) cultural reference.
I especially want him to react to the pop out concert, but only once he’s more informed about the genre and culture so he can really understand its significance
@@god2060 I think he will enjoy the concert a ton. If he does the music video I am totally willing to write out a summary of some of the important visuals that might go over his head though. Kendrick and Dave Free's visual storytelling deserve college courses devoted to them.
Also in euphoria Kendrick goes “you make music that pacify ‘em, I could double down on that line but spare you this time, that’s random acts of kindness” and this song pretty much confirms he was going to use that to set up a pacifier line to call him a p*do
Metalhead guitarist here, and I don’t listen to much rap besides some old school Memphis rap (my hometown) But Kendrick is my certified GOAT since DAMN came out. Now I have a 12 year old daughter who shares a birthday with KDOT and his music has brought us even closer together. Edit: John Stockton played with Karl Malone who got a 13 year old pregnant while in college. Never brought to charges bc he couldn’t pay child support if didn’t go to NBA (Drakes neighbor at one time too I think) Amberlamps…Amber alerts
Thanks for the comment and sharing that info with me! Yea I been listening to metal for years so its nice to find something new that I have been enjoying so much!
The, "pass on this body I'm john stockton", is a crazy line. John Stockton is an bball player has some crazy good numbers when it comes to passing but the person he normally passed to Karl Malone had a child with a minor. Kenny is calling drake Karl.
I mean , for real, there is none. Even die hard Drake fans said they are worse. Family matters might be a good song, but as we now know is, is full of lies. Kendrick proved it on the video, if there was any doubt (maybe for the Drake stans). in any case, Drake is just talking hardly over a beat in these so it’s hard for me to see where the rap is. This was never a battle. Drake thought it was but how can a pop star be in a rap battle with the rap GOAT of this times?
This song is unlike anything else in Kendrick’s discography both thr beat and flow. It changed the tone of the beef after meet the grahams. It is also very Southern California in flow and beat, which was intentional to push back on Drake’s arguments that he wasn’t connected to his city Compton. Or the assertion by Drake that Kendrick couldn’t make a club hit. He shows he can at will. So many layers.
I really love your reaction to Kendrick and the fact that you recognize him as an artist. It seem like you genuinely appreciate his music. It’s cool to see someone discovering new things
🔥🔥🔥 Glad you got the OVOs bars (Other Vaginal Option & OVHoe) after realizing its Drake’s label last video and the last verse without even getting to the Colonizer bar yet. Catched up quick. You got a crash course and did a good job understanding everything considering in such a short span
11:52 That is Drake's mansion in Toronto ( Drake calls it the Embassy, referenced in meet the grahams). Those pins are from an app that shows where s3x offenders live in your neighborhood.
Jon Stockton is the all time assist leader, "about to pass on this body I'm John Stockton" Stockton is also a city in Cali, but most importantly, most of Stockton's assists went to Karl Malone, who famously, or infamously, impregnated a 13 year old when he was in his 20s then abandoned the kid and never paid a dollar in support.
After your Kendrick journey you should seriously consider checking out J.I.D's discography ( specifically "the forever story"). if you really enjoy those intricate flows and a soulful, jazzy sound you'll love him!
You’ll have to check out Like That by Future and Metro Boomin, it’s featuring Kendrick and it’s the song that “kicked off” the beef. It’s been going on for years in subliminals but this is the song where Kendrick basically said screw all of that let’s talk about it. Some good context too is that Kendrick, Drake, and J.Cole have been widely regarded as the “big 3” in this generation of rap and each of them have claimed to be number one, this feature also served as a call out for both of them to prove they are.
This song is crazy. Drake is well known for being the hitmaker, where Kendrick is more known for his conscious raps and intricate lyrics . This song was Kendrick's way of showing that he could easily make hits if he wanted. This song went #1 for a while, it's still near the top of the billboard 2 months later, and when it released it smashed multiple streaming records that were held by Drake beforehand. So in a way, the way this song performed was in itself a Diss, since Kendrick beat him at his own game.
16:51 it’s crazy cause despite barely having listened to drake you seem to understand his genre better than him. That mf doesn’t want to understand he’s a pop artist
He thinks he’s Michael Jackson..he will never be able to cross genres stealing other people’s music and ideas. MJ was a genius, he didn’t need ghostwriters
Amberlamps lmao I think since he keeps saying Drake is a PDFile it’s a referring to Amber Alert, you know to look for missing children. He also mentions how one of drakes friends, Baka, who pleaded guilty xxxtraficking of a 22 year old. It all ties together. As well as what you said.
When u made the minor cord remark in the other video I started to comment something similar. When u pause go back about 5 seconds or you'll miss stuff.
Man, it’s so funny Drake poking a sleeping bear made Kendrick create songs about him being a predator, with the last one being the biggest song in the world rn.
That’s Drake’s house with the registered sex offender map pins that show where your local sex offenders are. It’s already been known that Baka sexually trafficked a women he beat up ends went to jail for, but she wouldn’t testify the trafficking so he only got charged so far with assault women and went to prison for it. For drake to celebrate his release was basically the moment many folks started being like “what tf you doing champagne papi?”
At around 10:10, kdot isn’t calling out those artists, he’s saying that drake went to Atlanta and collaborated with these artists and stole that Atlanta sound.
Honestly you should check out some stuff from this first album. His second album is what put him on the map so his first one gets slept on. Ronald Regan Era was the song that made me fall in love with his music back in the day
If you like the jazzy part of the beat you gotta listen to To Pimp A Butterfly if you haven’t yet. God damned masterpiece. Also love these videos man, thanks for making them
The art cover is Drakes mansion with the pins for registered sex offenders over it as a joke to him being a pedophile and only hang around pedophiles. Allegedly someone else in his team(Baka Not Nice which is here “Baka got a weird case, why is he around”) had a case for sexual assault but the charges were dropped.
I really appreciate what you said about genuinely reacting to songs. I think you should do Drake. His Take care album is good and it goes downhill from there. Be honest! We like that. You earned yourself a new sub after I’ve watched a few of your videos 🎉
Fair warning for the music video, theres a lot of references and cameos that you probably won't get, idk if anyone has done a breakdown of the video that you could read along to, but theres lots of video breakdowns that are eye opening
This is one of many songs I listen to on repeat but after MMATBS came out and KL opened up about his relationship problems, it hits so different for me now. Great track!
For the drake tracks, I think at this point the most important consideration is how many of the things he alleges about Kendrick were clearly debunked. Taken at face value, they paint a picture that is not at all grounded in reality, so it's important to have up reference information to dive into the validity of everything.
I seen the euphoria video and I've been waiting for this one! Cool to see someone not just find and enjoy a new artist but a whole new genre is cool to see. F it bro get down no matter what dance moves ya know lol it's mandatory for this song. I have a request. I really want to see you react to one of Drakes disses and it's the last one of the whole beef. Drake took it off streaming platforms (if that tells you anything lol) but it's still on YT. Heart 6 is what's it's called or something like that. I just think it be funny to see your reaction 😂😂
I appreciate you! Im going to go back and react to some of the Drake songs and maybe do a video to just go over the beef as a whole somehow. Not sure yet, but we will see!
One of my favorite bands is Periphery. They have an insane range of heavy and melodic songs. Check out their song Scarlet. I think that might be a good one to start off with if you dont normally listen to metal.
Bro I stumbled on your reactions few days ago and I have to say they are great. As someone who listens to everything, it's great listening to someone react to rap for the first time coming from another genre. Keep up the great content and make sure listen to pimp a butterfly album 👏🏿
if you're gonna listen to drake's stuff I think it'd be interesting to see you start with the heart part 6. its his worst by far and i think it'd be cool to see your perspective on the other tracks after listening to his worst one.
Some of the Drake tracks are fine - Push Ups in particular I actually listen to from time to time. It’s a fun listen, but nothing mindblowing. The only really bad one is The Heart Part 6. I really liked the general opinion that Meet the Grahams buried Drake and Not Like Us is just everyone dancing on his grave 😅
