@Blind Wave If you haven't seen it, please do a movie reaction to the Western classic "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" - there's so much in that movie, referenced in this episode.
That kid's an asshole, though. He's totally trying to steal the glory and telling the tribe that he was the one that choked out and killed the beast. That shot of the chief standing with Boba and handing him the water was pretty much him acknowledging that he doesn't buy it and knows the real deal.
@@KyleS3m3noff well he’s a kid so it obviously gives them a sense of humanity and they’re just a religious tribe. That obvious detail was really necessary
I enjoyed that a lot. It looks like we are going to watch Boba learn lessons about being a benevolent crime lord instead of a scary one - and then we are also going to watch a series called "Boba's biography" via his dreams. Two shows in one kind of situation - and I am on board with it.
I love that when they get back to the village the kid is obviously claiming to all his friends that _he_ killed the beast but the leader clearly knows what must have really happened even though he does not bring it up.
I understood it as the kid telling everyone how boba saved him. Wouldnt make too much sense to come back with boba, basically without his ropes, by the tusken kids side just for the kid to claim it was him who killed the creature🤨
@@joramsim one of the other tuskens is shown patting him on the back which suggests the kids taking the credit. after all there would be no need to congratulate the kid in such a manner if the kid was talking about how boba saved him.
@@joramsim I think showing the audience contradictions to the kid’s uncaptioned account of the slaying of the beast gives some of the Tuskens good reason to trust Boba; they’re still gonna celebrate the kid’s triumphant big fish
That's how I saw it, the kid was taking credit, no one was congratulating Boba, which makes it pretty obvious who was being cheered on. But the leader respects what Boba did and that Boba is letting the kid take credit is another plus for him.
@@gpaje however, I could totally see Boba be his ‘old self’ and tell the chieftain … “ok: let’s talk about what you owe me…”; that said, he’s had quite a few days, and likely just grateful for the drink
I'm definitely getting a "respect is earned, not given" vibe with the flashbacks. If Boba wants to rule with respect he himself will have to earn it from all others he wishes to rule. Can't wat to see where it goes!
This episode actually wasn’t that good at all. As a die hard boba fett fan he was never about “respect” even in mandalorian he disrespected the whole planet of mandalore in front of bo katan saying the empire turned it to glass. And also took no shit from her and her helper. I don’t like the direction they’re going with this one. Boba is no hero based off of respect. Also this episode felt really cheap. Go watch a few minutes of the mandalorian episode where they rescue baby yoda.then see this episode and you can see the production quality and lighting and color pallet is better in mando. Huge let down for me on this one
@@THEBESTVIDEOSEVER1 he may not have been about respect as you say but people can change. Also, Boba isn’t a hero anyways. He’s a prior bounty Hunter and wannabe crime lord. You can see how brutal he still is by vaporizing one of the assassins and killing the alien creature in the flashback. He did those solely for survival not respect. You can still be a hardened bad ass and earn respect. I can’t speak for the production of this series because I don’t know what is involved but I have to assume they are using the Volume like they did in Mandalorian so the quality should be on par.
@@THEBESTVIDEOSEVER1 Besides if you watch the Clone Wars with young Boba you can see he is struggling between two worlds, ruling with fear like Aurra Sing or with respect like Plo Koon. I also think they did a lower quality picture on purpose. Starting from the bottom working your way up to big picture budget, awesome scenes like Mandalorian did.
@@THEBESTVIDEOSEVER1 1: grogu*. 2: the reason why boba has changed as a man is because of his time with the tuskens, these flashbacks are showing how he went from a merciless and heartless asshole to a respectful and helpful leader. Of course he still has more learning to do, that's what he's gonna learn in this show
Imagine if Boba opens trade with the Tusken Raider tribes, inviting them to have a place in his fold after maybe gaining the respect of more of them. If he can call on even a few tribes, he's got his own hidden militia right there.
@@HaYahwarrior Jesus man fucking chill it’s 1 episode! You cannot judge something off of 1 episode, do you know many how shows have gotten better overtime??? Way to jump to conclusions
@@HaYahwarrior tell me a single episode 1 in any series that has all the shit you’re bitching about… Please. I love Mandalorian, but even season 1 episode 1 started slow. Chill the fuck out dude.
Sure, but it was hardly an original idea of his. I am sure if you asked most fan s to explain how he got out, this episode would be exactly what they imagined. Many fans had come up with similar ideas, and Boba's escape from the Sarlacc has been depicted in comics and books long before P&R came along.
That 6-armed alien thing was a reference to the Kraken in Clash of the Titans. It was awesome Harryhausen stop-motion animation, and they captured the stop-motion look perfectly here! Wierd choice of creature, but nice homage, RR!
I thought that it had a Ray Harryhausen sort of feeling to it....but I couldn't recall from which movie. That dude was a beast, and it feels like most if not all effects folk have a special place in their heart for the old master. My personal favorite scene is the skeletons ... you know what I mean. ;)
It’s interesting how it’s like centaur-ish if it wants to be; it looked off balance with just a prehensile tail, but piqued my interest when it planted it’s midlegs 🤔
Not a 6 armed alien it had 4 arms and 2 legs Like GORO from Mortal Kombat or the Pokémon Machamp but a space variant...lol.. Didn't get vibes from Clash of the Titans at all..
Yeah his tribal connections from Rotorua known for their Kapa Haka skills etc i.e singing, Oratory and of course weaponry skills kiaora from Aotearoa New Zealand "this is the way"
Yep, but Fennec has proved herself to be an excellent mercenary and is cunning and ruthless as it comes. Though she does have lines that should never be crossed.
she was probably born in 42BBY, which would make her around 23 in the Bad Batch and around 51 or 52 in the Book of Boba Fett, so she would be 10 years older than boba.
She's only like 10 years older than Boba. Boba was 13 when the clone wars ended. Fennec seemed in her early twenties and they said she was a newcomer to the bounty hunting world
22:55 I like to headcanon it that Obi-Wan scared the tuskens off not because of the krayt dragon cry but because when waving his arms about in his Jedi cloak they ran thinking it was the tusken slayer
@@lookn4juliet But that's when you know that they were a great character. When a death has meaning. I know what you mean though, it sucks when a fan favorite is killed off.
I really love the old school sci-fi elements: the four armed creature really reminded me the Green Martians from the John Carter books, and the "Stranger in a Strange Land" also set in a desert planet.
Sometimes old animation just does the job. Keep the graphics at a good but medeum levell and give me a good story and charecters and you got a good show in my opinion.
It's interesting that when the jawas discovered Cobb Vanth passed out in the desert with a camtono full of crystals they rescued him and traded him Boba's armor but when they found Boba they mugged him and left him for dead. I wonder if they knew who Boba was and they were like, "good riddance".
Cobb was on friendly terms with the Jawas, so maybe that’s why. Also, the story he tells Mando is a bit different than the story told in the Aftermath books. But yeah, it’s also possible the Jawas knew who boba was and didn’t like him.
Solid start to the new series. Can't wait to see more, Boba Fett has been my second favorite character, after Darth Vader, since I got into Star Wars 18 years ago. I've missed Star Wars shows so much.

@@THEBESTVIDEOSEVER1 Yeah it was pretty bad on all fronts. Most people actually agree it wasn't good but they're hesitant to say it out loud. I've seen so many comments using the word "SOLID" LOL that's a key word for BAD
I loved the brief recreation of the Geonosian arena scene. The original was good, but the shot of his face reflected in Jango's helmet and the zoomed-out shot that made him look much smaller really made me feel what Boba had wanted to live up to, and how alone/vulnerable he must have suddenly felt.
I love that they are taking their time and laying the groundwork properly, rather than just hitting us with nonstop action. It feels really character-driven, which is how I prefer storytelling.
I do love how they are expanding the Tusken Raider lore. The EU has lots about them, and those of us who read tons of Star Wars material in the 90's and early 2000's, love seeing little bits of it make it into canon. Not sure they will get real extensive with it, but glad to see some of what they tell you about their societies is making an appearance.
@@darthmalgus232 huh. Funnily enough I never saw that and just went with my gut and my knowledge that Eric tends to wear more blue and Aaron likes green.
@@itsbishop6002 such a lie, you obviously seen that before and just because you aren’t focused on it doesn’t mean you’re not aware of it and those are their colors every time they do the intro in the mandalorian.
In, "Aftermath," (which is canon,) the sarlaac died when the sail barge blew up and flaming wreckage fell into the pit. Boba just needed to get out of it.
@@phoenixx913 in "The Boys" there is an entire scene inside a dead whale but its organs are also still moving. A creature as big as the sarlacc doesn't simply stop moving from one second to another just because it died. That shit can take time, especially in a creature that obviously doesnt need a lot to survive
@@phoenixx913 Sure, I understand that. I'm not actually speaking to what we saw on screen, though. In the "Aftermath" series (which gave us Cobb Vanth,) the sarlaac died because flaming debris fell into the pit. "Aftermath," despite being somewhat chronologically challenged, is official Disney era canon...although how much that actually matters is anyone's guess.
I was really hoping a Krayt Dragon was going to dig up the Carkoon Sarlacc and bite a hole for Boba to get out. They made a reference to it on the Mandalorian, but I was hoping to see it.
@@JoeChianelli Well, in this continuity it may be Darth Vader offered a lot of money and Boba was like "Well, someone's gonna get that bounty, might as well be me." then it shifted to Han Solo and Jabba wasn't an Imperial.

@@THEBESTVIDEOSEVER1 But it's not really disrespect to say what you think is historical fact like if he had said they turned Alderaan to dust. Also, it's a bit different to be a crimelord who wants to rule through respect than to be a hero... and to roll over in a "power"-conversation.
After soooo much MCU content this year (which I loved), it's very refreshing to visit the World of star wars again after Mando season 2. 2022 is gonna be huge for star wars by the looks of it
Why open with Kamino? The opening images all connect because of themes of water and birth. Boba is in bacta, metaphorically being reborn; he was created on Kamino, a watery planet; then he finds himself in the Sarlacc, a kind of anti-womb, which nevertheless rebirths him.
I’ve been waiting for the Blind Wave reaction all day! Haha Best reactors on RU-vid! It’s so great to have live-action Star Wars back again! I loved the episode! The Kamino and Jango helmet flashbacks hit me right in my prequel loving feels. Showing Boba inside and escaping the Sarlacc was amazing! Loved how they showed some love to the Gamorrean guards too. 2022 is going to be an incredible year for us Star Wars fans!
How do you make the most feared bounty hunter in the Galaxy even MORE of a badass? Have him crawl his way out of a Sarlacc Pit while covered in acid burns, then have him be severely dehydrated, beaten by Tuskens, scorched by the twin suns of Tatooine, and nearly killed by a hybrid of Goro and Reptile from Mortal Kombat. Boba Fett will just walk it off, choke that creature to death and give a badass victory pose. All hail Lord Fett.
@@thedarkknight2221 I agree. There was some good stuff in the EU but a lot of it was a mess and pretty goofy. I’m so thankful Disney came along and cleaned up the canon. Unpopular opinion, but I really love all the new Star Wars.
The face Temuera Morrison makes when he's fighting is called 'Pukana'. It's a pretty significant part of traditional Maori fighting styles, which, being Maori, Tem pays homage to in all his fight scenes. His moves whenever he's got a stick/staff weapon like a gaffi stick are based on taiaha/patu styles, too.
@@dijhongraham9621 That is generally true, much the same as any colonised country, yes. Too much to get into in YT comments, but you can look up the Treaty of Waitangi and the Maori Land Wars if you want to know more.
nobody i've spoke to noticed that Boba got beat up with the same staff he uses in Mando Season 2. The same staff that shatters the helmets of Storm Troopers.
After seeing the Tusken fight with Boba, there has to be a Sith Tusken wielding a double blade light saber. Also Max Rebo lives, still grooving as ever!!!
@@maartenvangeffen4508 Oh yeah let me just hop in to the future to make sure if Eric cried so I know if I am allowed to tear up. Since when is Eric's reaction to Star Wars something we need to follow as some law. I don't think Eric's love for the prequals is a high as some other peoples here altho I do think he likes them alot. Stop with the "touch some grass" it's cringe.
@@jeppepeppe22 Lol get over it. It's just ridiculous that you tear up at 2 second footage of something that isn't even meant to be emotional. Jango's death in Ep II wasn't even meant to be emotional either lol, we're literally meant to dislike Jango in the film. I pointed it out because I thought you were overexaggerating, but from your reaction it seems you weren't and are just emotionally unstable.
@@maartenvangeffen4508 Don't recall myself saying that I teared up over jango's death anywere. Can you quote that part to me to refresh my memory. And only getting emotional over emotional scenes is the dumbest shit I've ever heard, and calling someone emotionally unstable that you have never met is also dumb as fuck.
The escape was also almost exactly like how it was described in Tales from Jabba's Palace anthology, published in 1995. The description in Parks and Rec was not an original idea.
So glad they didn't handwave how he got out of the pit or the lasting trauma it's had on him. Really pays respect to the original trilogy even if his character seems like it's changing a little (the honorable type he's displaying now wouldn't have worked for the empire, I think).
From what I remember in the EU, Boba was actually all about honour, and his justification for working for the Empire was that they were the rightful authority (which was certainly legally true).
Yeah, I can't quite connect him yet with the brat we knew from The Clone Wars. Granted, he's older now and has been through some shit since then, but I still don't really see that kid in there anywhere.
Assuming the flashbacks were from the time shortly after Jabba's death, that the young Tusken survived in the interim growing up to be the tribe big wig and Boba does indeed earn the respect of the Tuskens while leaving amicably, then Lord Fett may have some allies and untapped resources the underworld may not know of or even see coming.
When I saw the Rodian first start to uncover the monster. My first thought was oh gods this how the Kryat dragon from season 2 of the Mandolorian got woken up.
Also...let's give some props to Boston Dynamics for having their Spot model robots featured as the very first TRUE droids to appear in any Star Wars property.
1:07:35 I'm 99.9% sure that the mayor of Mos Espa is that Ithorian we saw in the trailers, sitting in the nice throne next to the Twi'Lek Majordomo that we saw in the first episode...
Yeah, IMDB confirms that David Pasquesi plays "Mok Shaiz's Majordomo". So there it is, MOK SHAIZ (probably the Ithorian in the trailer) is the Mayor of Mos Espa, not Kitster or Cob Vanth. Sorry to crush your dreams.
I've seen some articles about how this start had short comings, or wasn't strong. I disagree. This did exactly what it needed to do from a story perspective. It showed how boba is alive, it showed what boba is after, it presented opposition to what boba wants, and it was too short....making us want more right now!!!!! This was well thought out, and now we start to ride the sand waves.
I read a complaint that the sarlac was to short but honestly the tank = flashback could have other flashes to him climbing out. I am really liking the way they added flashbacks.
lol everyone keeps calling the Raider he fights "him" when in actuality it is the Chieftain's mate a female that beat's Boba down which speaks to their martial prowess and probably inspires Boba to learn the ways of the Tusken Raiders and is how he end's up with the Gaffi stick, It also looks to me that he may have incorporated some of the Tusken robes in his new armor look.
I’ve seen so many reaction videos and to this day I’m still surprised so little people noticed the kid was obviously taking credit for killing the sand creature and the majority of the Tuskens believe him, but the cheif is able to see through the lie and knows it was Boba who did it and offers water as a show of respect.
The Barge wreckage wasnt smoking so that leads me to believe he was there at least two days. Also, if he were alive and unconscious, he would be using up his suits air supply without being aware of it which is why he used the Troopers air as his was used up. The trooper was dead so he didn't use his air supply up.
I have seen many People Online being Disapointed with this Episode calling it Boring wich is just... What do these People expect? Mace Windu? I thought it was a solid Start for the Show and Im excited to see where its going
The backstory was him getting dragged through sand most of the time, boring dialogue when dealing with Jabba’s patrons and the fight scene with Fennec wasn’t good
Well, in the anime community the equivalent to that are the normies that only watch shounen anime because of the "fights". The monkey brain mentality "too much dialog not enough action, ooga booga."
Congratulations on 700 Thousand Subscribers! Seems like the flashbacks were taking up most of the episode, which is great. ''I''m the crime lord he's supposed to pay me.'' , ''We really need a protocol droid.'' , ''Yours looks shinier than mine.'' , Jawa's take it right when they get ambushed, glad they have Gamoreans, I have jawa's
Do hope we get more about this kid, the warrior woman, and the chieftain in the flashbacks. They must stand out so much from the rest of a group in these scenes for some specific narrative reason.
No reaction Ive seen yet has realized that the desert creature is a easter egg for the Kraken from the original Clash of the Titans.Tribute to Ray Harryhausen.
Max Rebo only has two limbs, his “feet” which he uses to play music. The first toys with him added an extra set of limbs to make him humanoid. But the Ralph McQuarrie concept illustrations clearly show him with only the two limbs.

I love to point out that in the legends continuity, Jango's head was still alive (because of cauterization trapping oxygen in his head) when Boba picks it up. No wonder he hates Mace.
@@rashad82094 i specifically said, "in legends." Also it was canon to Clone Wars because that was written beforehand, and connected to the lore of that book series.
@@coulsonintahiti No, that's just not the case in Legends or current canon. You can see the shadow of Jango's head fall outta the helmet in AotC. It's IN THE MOVIE. I don't know where you heard this but it's not true in the least.
I feel like the whole flashback idea is gonna play out like arrow did where Oliver flash backed to the island so we can see what led him to modern day. It’s a cool concept to see him land where he goes to see cobb vanth
I want him to come across obi wans old house and fine something that tells Boba it’s him sending him in a flashback of that time on Kamino with his dad!!
On twitter Daniel Logan confirmed that everything except the over the shoulder shot was unused footage from AOTC and the over the shoulder shot was new with a double
Love the first shot is of the palace Came out the dirt like I LIVE!!!!! Those red shields remind me of the shields that blocked darth mail qui gon and obi wan in battle of the fates in episode 1 the phantom menace. Boba in the tank having ptsd of past trauma Dragging him through the desert like Joseph in the Bible. These raiders live in tents unlike the ones that anakin killed who lived in huts. The way boba helmets spins as it falls on the ground is similar to how his father’s did when mace windu killed him. The alien falls boba smeelo which means slimeball we heard thag in episode 1 from young anakin. These raiders don’t all dress the same as see one wears jewelry showing he has rank or is a leader like a chief of his tribe. A lot of biblical and Egyptian imagery in this first episode as well as on the temple and buildings looks to be Hieroglyphics, boba is even dressed by servants like in the beginning in the movie the 10 commandments. Boba kills the alien the same way Princess Leia killed Jabba the hut
Also Boba could be in Sarlacc pit many years tbh. It was said that Sarlacc can digest its victim thousand of years. Maybe they are kinda sleeping inside?
I liked this first episode, and I'm excited to see more of Boba's time with the Sand People. They were one of my favorite parts of Kotor, and seeing them in at least a neutral light makes me hopeful that some of their old lore might still be intact.
Part of me would've preferred Boba to remain a mystery and the other part will definitely enjoy this. The first episode was not bad, although slightly underwhelming compared to how the Mandalorian started. All being said, I appreciate being back in that world.
All of me wished that the show was 99xs better! I'm sorry, but u guys actually enjoyed this episode? I'm a huge Mando fan and overall Star Wars fan but I gotta say...this was horrible, just horrible! Whatever happened 2 a gripping plotline and captivating action/fight scenes!? Is this supposed 2b a parody or something? Amazing start IMO! The best new Star Wars content so far. I really digged the music, it was way better than Dune's Hans Zimmer sitting on his keyboard LOL
This series had a really solid start. What I really liked are the flashbacks and how we finally got an answer on how Boba escaped the Sarlaac Pit. BLUE AND ORANGE = Eric RED AND SILVER = Aaron GREEN AND WHITE = Calvin PURPLE AND BLACK = Rick
I think the red and white helmet in the top is Rick; the rigth one, blue and brown is Eric; in the left, purple, yellow and black is Calvin and the other one, green and white, Aaron. I thouth that because of the colours in the poster behind. And I know I'm late but I'm from Europe and I couldn't see it earlier. Also another great reaction, guys! 😄👍🏼
