I was puzzled too. With some internet searching I did find that Daniel is not accepted into the Neviim (prophets) and is in the book of writings (Ketuviim). In the Talmud is explicitly says Daniel is not a prophet and the jewish sages debate it. I imagine he is not a liar and is a pretty smart guy, I feel like it would be insane to think that it isn’t canonical and this might be a much more logical explanation.

They do not accept Daniel for it proved they denied the first coming of the Messiah. All the prophecies were given, and the exact year. The Talmud, written by the religious leaders, is taken above that of the word of God and this is wrong. The Holy Bible (KJV) is the final authority being the pure words of God, containing old and new covenants made by God.

If you look a little deeper, you will understand that the Jews believe that Daniel was a prophet. In the Talmud there is a dispute as to why the book of Daniel is not included with the book of the prophets, but it is part of the scriptures. First of all, from here you see that the book of Daniel is indeed authentic according to the Jews and indeed they study it in depth, also in the Talmud many verses from the book of Daniel are cited. Secondly, there are levels of prophecy, of course the highest level of prophecy. He spoke to God literally. Why wasn't Moses written in the book of prophets? I assume you already answered that yourself, and in addition you understood this about the book of Daniel. The last of the prophets are Haggai Zechariah and Malachi. Daniel has a lower level. This level is called the Holy Spirit. That is why the Book of Ruth and the Book of Eicha, even though they were written by the Prophet Samuel and Jeremiah the Prophet, were not included in the Prophets either. Because they were written at the time of the old age of the Prophets Samuel and Jeremiah, since they descended in prophecy to the level of the Holy Spirit .

We Christians (Bible believing Christians) worship the One we love. We are to love God above all, then we know how to love for it comes from the only source of love.
