I like to think Greirat only got caught because of the "good turn" he did for Patches. In other words, he got caught to allow Patches to escape. It's why he's still so confident when he asks us to send him to Lothric proper. Unfortunately, they apparently don't take prisoners there, they just kill them
Rest now, sweet Icarus. You flew too close to the sun, and yet, you flew higher than many could ever dream. To die doing what you love is the only way a legend should.
They really bait-switched us with him. He’s just cool the entire time and so surprised you’re being kind he’s willing to risk his life to be any amount of helpful.
Greirat is such a cool dude it’s probably the reasons why I never allow him to go scavenge, since I never want to see him die in his attempt with helping you.🐱
18:05 what did he mean by this? Also, hat's actually really inspiring that he was determined to live his best life despite being in prison a long time, having the world crumble to ash around him, losing his main loved ones and like you said, returning to his town and seeing what horror has befallen it. Or maybe the Undead Settlement was always like that. It's actually one of my favourite areas in DS3 in terms of design and atmosphere but no one can deny its a ****ed up place
I think there's more to the items appearing in Greirat's stock than meets the eye. The Irithyll Straight Sword belongs to the Outrider Knights, and at least one of them is squatting in the Settlement, indicating the Pontiff's " eyes" on the burgeoning cult of Aldrich there. The Lothric items from Irithyll are representative of the ties between Lothric and the formerly holy city; the Covenant symbol of the Blades Of the Darkmoon shows a Lothric Knight Sword over the crescent. Indeed, High Priestess Emma gives you the sign of the Way Of Blue early on; the Way Of Blue is, or was, the dominant faith of Lothric, besides the worship of the sun by it's knights. Irithyll was home to the highest religious authority of both it and the Way Of White simultaneously.
i havent played dark souls yet so it was tragic but expected when you found him on the rooftop. I get the whole die after fulfilling your purpose thing but maybe it would be more impactful if you werent able to predict everyone dying, like rannis whole crew in elden ring i knew as soon as i met them i may as well kill them now to save them from a shitter fate
“I couldn’t return the ring because she was dead but here’s her femur.” I’ve never thought too deeply about Greirat and Loretta but how fucked yup Is this. 💀 E: Nevermind. After reading the description i learned it was clutched in her hand but damn that would’ve been the grim shit I’d expect from ds.
I hate to comment so many times but I couldn't find anything after searching: does one soul represent one person's life? When I'm running around with 860,128 souls, am I holding hundreds of thousands of the slain within my own bosom?
Honestly was just my assumption since it wasnt stated, and he calls her old loretta so i was thinking she could maybe be his grandma but i guess i just never considered that she could be his biological mom lol
@@TheHonoredMadmannobody calls their mom "Old [their first name]" unless they're saying something like "My mom, [the title they're commonly known by]". I think you're right with her probably being a mother figure for the children of the Settlement.
I was wondering if you were going to bring up PAtches change in dialogue when Greirat passes on from natural causes. Since I never sent him out the third time, I never did get PAtches "Luckiest man" dialogue. I just can't send Greirat out the third time, just like with Laurentius. Interestingly enough, after PAtches or Seigward rescues Greirat, Greirat sells the Zweihander. Infinite zweihanders. Just curious since Seigmeyer wielded the zweihander in the first game.
