The Book of Job: Job 1-42 

Thanks professors for this video. I really enjoyed listening to each one of you explaining the book of Job, and the lessons we learn from it. I had read it a few times before when I was younger, but now, having gone through more life experiences, it makes more sense. I thank God for the Grace and wisdom He has given you. So glad that they recorded these discussions. Great summary and discussion. Job was a perfect type and shadow of the Savior's innocent suffering. I'm sure some of our suffering is due to sin and transgression but there may be a good portion that is more akin to innocent suffering. How we endure our afflictions can really make the difference in Lord purifying and sanctifying us.

Love the back-and-forth here about Job! A question I have that this video reminded me of is; is there anything written about the Lord being different after having experienced the atonement? Before the atonement could He succer His followers the same as after His atonement? He had never taken upon Him the sins of everyone till He completed the atonement. The New Testament mentions the Lord growing in wisdom and in favor with man, but not sure how far that goes. I know it is written God is the same, but again, I do not know how far that scripture goes either. Does anyone here have any sources they could share with me about Jesus's growth before and after the atonement?

Dr. Huntington, I'm not sure that Section 121 tells us that Job was a historical person. While the Lord tells Joseph Smith, "Thou art not yet as Job" because his friends stood by him, I wonder-- couldn't that be similar to his direction to the lawyer to learn from the example of the Good Samaritan and "go and do likewise?" It seems that the Lord can direct us to the example of fictional characters in parables for inspiration. Still learning from this video in 2020. Thank you all!
