In high school they told us if we ever read a book by an ex mormon we would immediately be excommunicated for being a heretic. So of course I went out and read one.
I've heard many a story where the man would laugh and say when that policeman found out I was a Mason he kind of got mad because he knew he couldn't give another Mason a ticket hahaha
Mormonism is Masonry with little difference. It’s so obvious the LDS had to change their temple weddings because of the obvious ties because some morman men were already masons and this caused some uncomfortable questions to be asked to leadership.
As an English teacher having read the book of Mormon the level of literature skill is non existent. However there is a genius in it in that it has misled so many. Truly it is effective in this satanic effect.
Misled, how? I joined the church based on the truths found in the book of mormon. The literature skill is simple and this is a translation based on plates. The plates themselves can be complex but when translating to English, a much never lanaguage comparatively, it will appear simple. Heck, the Bible is simple. Truth is a very simple matter and that's what the Book of Mormon is. Also hearing the struggles of people isn't satanic... how so? It appears you aren't a teacher but a sheep who got into the Anti-Mormon cause and can't see beyond that.
@@HarshitGarg-CRA the Church is full of great people, but it teaches a polished history of Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon that is not accurate. There is no such thing as "Reformed Egyptian", the language Joseph claimed the golden plates were written in. Joseph orally dictated the BofM while looking at a stone placed in a top hat, which he claimed was a "seer stone". Which he found nearby from a friend in a well. Since a teen, he claimed to see hidden treasures. He led treasure hunts based on folk lore methods, earning fame and modest pay, but never ever found anything. He claimed the missing treasure was "slippery" due to guardian spirits. He even lead animal sacrifices to appease these spirits. The lore was that the spirit of whoever buried the treasure, guarded the treasure. Hence the concept of Moroni. In 1826 he was taken to court for being a disorderly person, a "glass looker" and told to stop leading visionary hunts for gold. In 1827 he claimed to find golden plates, which no one else was allowed to see. The 3 Witnesses state they did not see the plates with their natural eyes, but spiritual eyes only in a vision led them by Joseph Smith. Martin Harris and David Whitmer were known to frequently claim to see things. Oliver Cowdrey was willing to do anything for Joseph to be part of his cause, including lie, which he did often. Including, to defend Joseph in court. The 8 Witnesses hefted plates while covered, but never admitted to flipping any uncovered plates seen with their natural eyes. Rather with their spiritual eyes only, which is the same as not actually having seen them. None of them would admit when questioned by others that they had actually seen the plates with their physical eyes. The Church doesn't have the plates today because they never existed. There are zero archaeological artifacts from any Book of Mormon time civilizations. DNA tracing shows that Native Americans absolutely did not come from Jerusalem. The First Vision was recorded 18 years after claimed to happen. All visitation accounts including Peter, James, and John were backdated into the record. And evidence strongly shows none of these visitation events actually happened. The LDS temple endowment was taken from the Masonic Temple ritual. LDS Garments bear the Masonic symbols square, compass and ruler. This was the un-ignorable eye opener for me. Church admits Joseph took Endowment rituals from Masonry and has no link to Temple of Solomon or Bliblical times. That was a rumor at Joseph's time. Once you find out that Joseph was...a fraud (sorry if that sounds harsh)...everything else quickly makes sense. You don't have to wait for the next life to find out if the Church is true. Or continue to search for and proxy baptize billions of deceased people to save them. With the internet now, the truth claims that formerly served as pillars of Church Doctrine are now shown for what they are. Never true in the first place. It's wild, I know. I recommend to watch more videos from Dan Vogel. Or visit www.ldsdiscussions.com The only thing I'm loyal to is the truth. "And the truth shall set you free."
@@mrlds3202 In the book of Moroni, Joseph writes "that which brings one closer to Christ is good". He said this to justify his ideology of how it's okay to lie for the Lord. Egregious things like saying Native American people have dark skin because of their loathsome sinful predecessors. This is a false doctrine. It's destructive. It's uniquely Mormon. Doctrine Covenant section 132 says that those who do not accept the doctrine of plural marriage will be the Servants of those who do, for eternity. This is a false doctrine. It's destructive. @@AmeeraG242 the book of Abraham is true including the descriptions to the hieroglyphs. The translations aren’t supposed to translate the actual Egyptian, but the Egyptian back to what it originally was meant to be. Which is the gospel of god. The Egyptians stole the gospel from the Bible and created false gods and a false religion. Abraham is showing us what it is actually supposed to be. The true gospel. It explains it all. I received revelation from god that that is what it actually means. There is so much that goes into it. It’s like a code that only true Bible knowers can figure out. It’s absolutely incredible. No one knows it though except a small few. It reveals so much about the story of Joseph of Israel. But it’s almost coded. You have to put it all together. That’s why Joseph smith had the book of Joseph also along with everything else when he was translating everything.

It appears that Joseph was alot more gifted and educated than the Mormon church wants to admit. He played on the superstitions and ignorance of the people of his time.
Or did he represent the people and their concerns? Documented history is not kind to unwanted truth. Ignorance is caused by either not having the will to learn or by having knowledge of truth withheld from you deliberately.
Amazing how Mormon theology changes with the wind. When US. Congress refused to allow Utah statehood, due to polygamy & pedophilia .God came to the Mormon church and told them to give up multiple wives & sex with children... In1978, Jessie Jackson led a planned Salt Lake City protest of Blacks non admission to the priesthood & the temple. 100,000 Black men were organizing a protest in Utah of racist Mormon church teachings; Then, that same year, God then came to the Mormon church and told them black people were now okay. For 180 years, Mormon church taught hateful things towards Gays. Now in 2023, after bad press, God has told the Mormon church to back off the condemnation of Gays...Interesting timing of God's revelations & heat the Mormon Church was feeling.
Thank you Dan forever for all the time you have personally spent researching all of these matters for decades for little in return so that future generations can be assisted in their search for “greater light and knowledge” or rather truth regarding all that is shown and all that is behind a partition of discomfort.
I used to watch your videos all the time because I tried to get my wife out of the Mormons. I left that church in 1987 after being raised in the church since birth. I was Mormon for 37 yrs, Well I tried for twenty yrs., but to my ever lasting sorrow, she wouldn't leave even after all of the hard evidence I showed her. Now when I watch your videos it just reminds me she is still there.
My advice is to stop trying to deconvert her. Let her be. It sounds like she has made an informed decision. That's all you can do. Just love her where she's at.
@@danvogel6802I know that's good advice and that is what I am currently doing. Thank you. I've watched your videos for years. Probably seen them all more than once.

Lol, since there are thousands of Christian denominations, the "true gospel" is up for debate more than ever. Then you basically start where Joseph Smith started, inquiring which of these churches were true.
Im so glad you decided to examine this connection and the influence freemasonry had on the development of the Mormon "religion". Your research is always impeccable, so I cant wait to watch this!!!
I enjoyed watching/listening to this, specially since Dan never seems to inject any personal beliefs or opinions and just lays out the straight undeniable information from the specific times and peoples! That is always the safest and most factual way of going about these kinds of videos in which a historical topic or issue is being questioned, examined or studied! If I were to actually go into this a little deeper though I would definitely highlight a bit more on the fact that Joeseph Smith and his family have definite ties to Freemasonry, along with many other early leaders and followers! Along with the fact that many of the books teachings and "knowledge", along with much of the Morman secret/private rituals and ceremonies, considered by them to be of great importance and are performed within specific rooms and areas of their temples/churches with specific members, are very similar if not the same as certain Freemason rituals/ceremonies! When examining the two its almost impossible to mistake the similarities between the two! So yes their are most definitely both pro masonic and anti masonic aspects to Mormonism! Therefore I would think it to be important to remember certain aspects and beliefs of Freemasonry, such as their high regard to the duality of life and everything within it! Usually symbolized visually/physically by their prominent display of the black and white checkard board on certain garments and within most temples! The black and white checkard board pattern specifically symbolizing an inherent necessity for the duality of all things such as good can only exist, and is just as important as evil! One can find these dualities within most aspects of life or this world! Therefore it is well known that Freemasons also believe in applying this to their dealings and personal involvement when it comes to them shaping or influencing worldly matters such as directing government and/or social matters! The Freemasons will purposely infiltrate and play both sides of an issue or political party, etc... So it shouldn't really be to much of a surprise that the Mason early Mormons might have very well played both sides and made Mormonism seem to be both pro masonic and anti masonic at the same time, so that they could more easily go along with whichever narrative best fits them and their agendas/growth/influence during whatever specific period of time! This is what I believe to be the truth based on the examination of involving further research!
You don't know shit. William Morgan was booted from Freemasonry by his brothers for ripping folks off. The Morman Church was founded by lying dirtbag grifters. Religious zealots, charlatans, and atheists are the only men barred from Freemasonry.
This is an interesting take. Have you watched that Altiyan Child’s video? The black and white chequered pavement or carpet does represent the duality of life and the occurrence of opposites in nature, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that Masons hold evil to be as important as good (or atleast in my view - evil exists, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not what I think about when I see that pavement) If you want to debate, the guys on the Freemasonry Reddit are much better than I am, plus you can get an international viewpoint.
Well said! You expressed the ting yang of life as well as Mr. Vogel. “ There must needs be opposition in ALL things”.🤭 Just a query.. do you think Mitt Romney kept his temple vows to himself at the risk of losing the presidential victory.? Many powerful men have been masons. If Romney had admitted to his vows. he would have shown the similarity of Masons and LDS thus giving away the fact that temple ceremony was just the same as Masons.

some general remarks:: Thurlow Weed in his autobiography devotes a chapter to William Morgan. He says Knights Templar Freemasons confessed to him they murdered Morgan . Weed was instrumental in forming the anti masonic party and was its first candidate, as I recall. J. Smith roomed with the Harris's. He married Her in C. 1838... Lucinda Morgan Harris (Smith) was the widow of William Morgan. Mr Harris was a Freemason. (So were J Smiths dad and brother Hyrum) After JS bit the dust Lucinda married JS! for eternity. And she married Mr Harris "For Time". (The Nauvoo Endowment Ceremonies a Documentary History). Lucinda was Mormonism's first to practice Mormon polyandry. Some say Sidney Rigdon stole Spaulding's book and Sid and Joe met secretly to concoct the BofM.. (Origins of....Mormonism, S. Smucker)
Thanks for your remarks. I do not support the Spaulding theory, but argue that Joseph Smith wrote it. Spaulding died in 1816 and would not have written the Masonic-inspired passages and many others as well. Some argue that Spaulding's manuscript was rewritten by Smith and Rigdon, but that is a stretch.
Campbell, father and son, were Ulster Presbyterians, and therefore opposed to any kind of "secret societies" against liberty in their new country. It was pretty much a given that Brother Campbell would have been able to sense the BoM's "answers" to issues in the Burnt Over District of NYS, and how those were more modern than ancient.
Dan, this is so fat-free and full of quality material. You hit on the 12/25/1832 prophecy about the Civil War. Is there any evidence that the South Carolina detail was added later on?
"The nullification crisis was a United States sectional political crisis in 1832-33, during the presidency of Andrew Jackson, which involved a confrontation between the state of South Carolina and the federal government." (wikipedia) As you can see, there was no need to add SC later; it was at the center of the crisis even in 1832.
In c. 1837 Harriet Martineau in her Retrospect of Western Travel said that when a revolution began it would be Fort Sumpter S. C.... Joe could only name the state. It was in the air. she wasn't a prophet and neither was Joseph's Myth
Extraordinary call outs on BoM masonic phrases as well as focusing on conservative teachings of the day. Back in the 80s, masonic BoM terms were somewhat well known by us lay folk, but back then we believed Masonic folklore that it was ancient. It wouldn't be until the invention of the internet and WWW that we would learn otherwise.
Some very old sects of freemasonry obviously after 1717 did practice theurgy. If by freemasonry they are referring to actual theurgy then yes it is ancient since theurgy predates civilization by many millennia. However, modern day freemasonry is something else altogether. Just a bunch of apron wearing nepotists in my eyes.
@@Sapientiaa We know concretely the the ritual adopted (JS called it restored) by Mormons was developed in the early1700's. There is nothing ancient about it.
Moroni does say that the record was preserved to come forth in our day and was written for our benefit. He saw our day and sent warnings for it. It doesn’t surprise me that the warning of the Book of Mormon would be relevant to the time and issues of some of the issues of the day. “Secret combinations” is a curious phrase and it’s worth asking the question raised here. What’s more important is asking God if the book has relevance to your life and will it point you in the way of truth and light? For me it does. I receive truth from God in all the sources it comes from. Any truth God has for His children comes under scrutiny and is most often rejected. I’ll watch part two to see if Dan ever has a point. The research is impressive though. Thank you for your time in compiling it.
I believe J. Smith was a religious free thinker of his day. He just couldn’t accept Protestant Christianity on its surface. As the LDS church states he was a questioning young man. Possibly the BOM came about as a kind of “channeled” experience,
The Bible was written first in Hebrew then translated to Greek, and then retranslated from the Greek back into Hebrew. Since Moroni does not exist in any form in Bible, where do you suppose Moroni came from? Smith made it up, just like he made up the "golden tablets". If it came from Smith's imagination, then is Smith some kind of god?
Freemasonry is not all that secret. Freemasons have ritual temple work. You can find a ritual outlining the temple work at second hand book stores occasionally. I have heard that LDS also do temple work but I don’t have any idea if the rituals are in print. I was a member of a Masonic youth group. Our advisor was indeed a member of the LDS church. It was my great privilege to crown her daughter Honored Queen of the youth group we belonged to. Thank you “advisor “ for your constant help and guidance to keep our organization from falling through the cracks.
Dan, thanks for making these videos and all of the research you’ve done to hold people accountable to the truth. I hope it makes you smile to know that a Mormon church ad was at the beginning of your video. I hope you get some $ from that.
It appears the antics of the District Of Columbia, (geographically in the womb, directly between VIRGIN IA and MARY LAND... Hmm) and Federal Politics in the early 1800's, was just as real as WWF Wrestling back then as well. The Cinderella Story of Jackson and his "Jacksonians," sounds vaguely similar.. Nah, keep voting from the Selected ones, that we have the Right, to Vote from.. The Morman's historical account of the North American continent is what truly interests me. Solid video, whether I agree with the Political Theatre accounts, or not.
Its so good knowing these religious institutions designed to pacify the human race are being thoroughly exhumed and exposed for the false hope they've promised, if you find any information regarding such connections please show this through video references. Ive found very little connections linking JWs to freemasonry online but have personal knowledge that could be of value but do not dare disclose this to public domains until a more safe time. Religion and its influences will be done away with in generations to come as people realise there is no intermediate between the creator and creation, and no man that fears or worships institutional organisations could ever be acceptable by men. I believe this video and the many more available is helping to break the chains of fear of man these religions bring through false doctrines and allow free thinking individuals decide there fate on earth.
Joseph seemed to have changed his mind about freemasonry by the 1840s, when he joined them and incorporated their rituals into his religious practices.
The book of Morman isn't anti-Masonic. It's part of the plan for the Masons. That is, the elimination of Christianity, which Mormonism plays a part since it replaces Christianity.
Agreed. The LDS church is "forgetting" the old doctrines, while pushing for ecumenism and calling on all members to be "good global citizens". I believe the Church will play a leading part in the coming One World Religion, which will be the theosophy of freemasonry. Why do you think they're building so many temples, even though membership is declining in the USA and Western nations? President Nelson has even been to Rome for a meeting with the Pope, gushing afterwards about "His Holiness". I wonder what they discussed in private? Hmmm?
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE LDS IS IN THEIR ARTICLES OF FAITH. THEY WARNED ABOUT END TIMES & EVENTS IN MESOAMERICA TIMES AND ITS WHY THEYRE CALLED THE CHURCH OF (LATTER DAY SAINTS) NOT The CULT SECTS

I am a 2nd degree mason situated in the UK - I want to make a quick clarification for all those interested. Joseph Smith WAS a freemason but was banned from Freemasonry for two main things. A) Smith went "door knocking" trying to recruit potential candidates which is a HUGE NO NO in Freemasonry. We DO NOT recruit members or ask you to join. You become a mason of your own free will and accord and we have maintained this since Masonry's beginning. B) He tried to turn Freemasonry (specifically his lodge) into a religion. Freemasonry IS NOT a religion, it is not a cult, it offers no "path(s) of salvation" and it has no religious or political aims or objectives. It is actually forbidden to discuss politics and religion INSIDE lodge because of potential factors like a potential conflict or animosity between members. Our three main principles are brotherly love, relief and truth. Joseph Smith completely went against his obligation and the standards or codes of ethics/values of Freemasonry. Smith sadly kept a lot of symbols and signs/handshakes from his time in masonry before his suspension and used them in his church. If you are a mason or understand who we truly are as a fraternity, you can clearly see the hatred and disgust of things like Masonry in the book of mormon. Also, look at your KJV bible. Did you know King James was also a brother? Now you do....
@@Brian-gj5xm Im not christian... Both Smith and King James WERE brothers..... and no, the first recognised established lodge was 1717 but freemasonry started much earlier than that
@@Brian-gj5xm Masonry in a ‘Speculative’ form (as opposed to Operative form, the actual stone masons) has been around a lot longer than 1717. That’s the year that 4 Lodges came together and established the first Grand Lodge. 3 of those 4 Lodges still exist today with the earliest being able to trace records to 1691, possibly even back to 1682. The earliest minutes of the Mother Kilwinning Lodge in Scotland go back to 1642, but it’s easily argued that the Lodge conducted business well before they started taking minutes. So it’s entirely possible… “…in every age Monarchs themselves have been promoters of the art, have not thought it derogatory to their dignity to exchange the sceptre for the trowel, have patronised our mysteries and joined in our assemblies” - as is said to every Freemason when they are Initiated.

God’s written promises for adding and subtracting from scriptures! Revelation 22:18-19; I testify and warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book [its predictions, consolations, and admonitions]: if anyone adds [anything] to them, God will add to him the plagues (afflictions, calamities) which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from or distorts the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away [from that one] his share from the tree of life and from the holy city (new Jerusalem), which are written in this book.
those words are written specifically about the book of Revelation not all scripture everywhere or the Bible in general- especially because the bible as we know it wasn't all bound together at the time of its writing.

For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart. So we have the prophetic word made more certain. You do well to pay [close] attention to it as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and light breaks through the gloom and the morning star arises in your hearts. Joe Smith Sr. was a Past Master, as was Hyrum during the invention of the book of mormon. Jackson was a Grand Master, and Adams was virulently anti mason as was his father.
Political rhetoric is seldom accurate. After Morgan's assumed murder in 1826, Masonic membership decreased to the point that the Palmyra Masonic Lodge, along with many others in the area, closed. We do not know what Hyrum's attitude was, but a letter from JS warned he to beware of the Freemasons as he was attempting to leave New York for Ohio in 1831. Stay tuned.
Thanks for this very interesting presentation. I've always wondered how it could be that JS changed his opinions on so many topics on such a massive scale in only a few years. Including going from a condemnation of "secret combinations" to an adoption of masonic rituals in the temple ceremony. It seems to me that his mind possessed a fluidity which allowed him to immerse himself fully into the thought life of his environment and then to come up with a creative synthesis which was subject to change because this process never stopped. I think this process itself was what he experienced as prophetic revelation, not necessarily the content of it.
@6:26 the secret combinations are at the pinning of a 33; before there are no applauds; at the pinning, the adept's pinner Vulcan squeezes the shoulder and gives a neutral command that prepares the pinnee for a question: are you a Good man?...yes, he goes left...no, he goes right...hidden society forms to the right, naive public-facing to the left

There are 2 kinds of Masonic Bible. They are almost always a KJV. The 1st kind is a KJV bible with a cover, with a square and compasses or Masonic motifs on the cover. There are no other differences to any other KJV bible. Most bible printer have a version with a cover embossed with the above mentioned symbols, specifically for Freemasons - just as they will have covers with army camouflage for members of the armed forces who want a special bible. The second kind is a bible made specifically by a Masonic printing house. This is also a KJV bible but it will invariably have a few pages at the front with bios of various characters mentioned in Freemasonry like Solomon, King of Israel, Hiram, King of Tyre, Hiram Abif, etc. also descriptions of the First and Second Temple at Jerusalem, and mentions of other things in Freemasonry - with the relevant scripture. That’s it, usually a few pages and completely separate from the OT. Sometimes between the OT and NT in the book there is a section for you to record your Masonic dates and highlights. The most famous of these bibles is one published in America as a family bible by Heirloom Publishers. Because America, there is also a section of military dates, ranks and deployments and also family records (marriage, births, deaths, etc.). This is an incredibly popular bible for Lodges and masons for the above reasons. If you buy a Masonic bible expecting to find a bunch of books and verses that aren’t in a regular KJV bible, you’ll be pretty disappointed.
I appreciate your work in presenting your studies an an efficient Utube format. Your insights are great and your research thorough. However, it seems any discussion of Masonry in early American history must include the war between Freemasonry and organized religion, especially the Catholic and Lutheran Churches. Masonry was perceived as the friend of small protestant religions. In fact, the very similar Knights of Columbus was organized by the Catholic Church to offset the Masonic threat. The Book of Mormon condemns the "great and abominable church" as often as it riles against "secret combinations".
I wouldn't describe Smith as 'gifted and educated.' Smith was an opportunist and saw an opportunity to exploit the people who lived in the vicinity of the Smith family home.

Isaiah 57 kjv warns against Mormonism. Doctrine and Covenants 132 written by Joseph Smith is where he states that he is a medium. I grieve for my Ancestors who embraced what they thought was for a Celestial Marriage between a man and woman, but no, the Celestial Marriage is for Multiple Wives and Concubines. Read it yourself.
Actually D&C 132 was not written by Joseph Smith but it was put in D&C eight years after Joseph’s death. To me D&C 121 warned about man using their positions unrighteously… saying amen to their priesthood. It was actually against BY asserting his polygamy dreams into Mormonism. Many have found JS never practiced polygamy and taught against it. Brigham and his clan rewrote the history. They actually turned on Joseph, possibly plotting his death. This is a theory recently introduced to me and I’ve been listening to its agruements. I thought Dan would hit on that Brigham was a Freemason and was the one that mixed the two. To me this vindicates Joseph Smith, to be able to accept him as a prophet if he was not guilty of such immorality.
Joseph Smith had up to 40 wives. The number is not important other than more than ONE wife. Records show he also had a marriage performed at a Freemason Lodge. No Church should discourage members looking and praying for the truth. If Truth is there, it should be encouraged. Pray for the Truth of God, not a spirit of testimony to cloak your mind.
