About Me:
I was born in Macclesfield and very rarely leave. I mainly discuss books on this channel but every now and then something else will slip through the net. I'm interested in most fiction, and enjoy books that tell stories about older characters as I feel they're often under represented in literature. Lately, I've become interesting in telling and discovering working class tales.
I have a BA in Creative Writing and have been the secretary to the Macclesfield Creative Writing Group since 2011. In 2015 I independently published my first book Our Doris. The book follows the eponymous Mrs Doris Copeland, atomic housewife, with a rock bun recipe that can make even the most secure dentures shudder. There are two sequels, Indisputably Doris and Doris Ahoy.
In 2020 I released An Heir to Murder, the first in a cosy crime series featuring Alice Valentine.

You certainly sold me on this book. I've put it on hold at my library - I just hope I can get it done in three weeks once I get it! I do adore Very long books - and this sounds like exactly my cup of tea. Thank you for such a charming and helpful video!

I am most pleased to hear it and hope that you enjoy the book when you get around to it. By my calculations this amounts to around 42 pages a day if you wished to finish reading in 21 days - I spent a few weeks on the thing so I'm sure that you'll do okay. Let me know how you get on.

Watching and hearing you talk about such a big book over a vlog is such a treat. Haven't read Dostoevsky yet, or The Luminaries (gave up after 100 pages; none of the characters felt real - would give it another go though) and i loved the Wolf Hall trio, so i don't think i would pick this book up unless people are still talking about it in a few years. Loving all the contemporary releases you are keeping up with!

It transpires that this was the best way for me to discuss the book because I was able to keep track of my various thoughts throughout the reading process. Yes, wait for the hype to die down enough and it will be a regular tome donated to charity shops. (Folk kept calling it challenging and I had to see for myself.) I know I've been on backlist titles for years - I can't believe I've been reading so many recent releases.

It would be interesting to hear how you get on with the book. I feel you'd have a lot to say about the religious aspect.

That is a fantastic idea about wearable blankets. However, I have seen someone wear one in public and it did look mildly out of place.
