The Borg Documentary 

I seem to recall one episode where a group of borg chose a different path. One of symbiosis rather than assimilation. This involved a borg named Hugh. It would be interesting to see where this line ended up, but there were only two episodes that I recall involving this collective. The plot was never developed past that.

While I do like this documentary, let's not deny it: "TNG" Borg were better than the monsterous-looking zombies they were from "First Contact" and on with a green glow to symbolize their evil and their ugly garbage looking ships. While whether they assimilated en masse before "First Contact" is debatable (because the game "Star Trek: Borg" still used the "TNG" Borg - the last one to use the "TNG" Borg BTW - they had assimilation in big numbers), they still were superior to what they became just a month later in "First Contact"! You couldn't bargain with them, they could easily destroy ships as happened at Wolf 359. As renegades cut off from the Collective, they were extremely scary and chilling villains ("Descent" part 1 and 2) whose renegade ship causes massive chaos for victims, hence it's a good reason to wonder if even giving a single Borg cut off from the Collective rights. We're not taling Cardassians or Romulans or Klingons, who can be capable of good. We're talking drones who could be arsenals of mass destruction, as Crosis demonstrated in the "Descent" episodes. The Borg on "TNG" were not zombies but an intelligence race of humanoids combined with technology capable of destruction on a mass scale. Even assimilation with the "TNG" Borg was scarier - escaping the Collective was difficult for Picard. A "TNG"-era Borg ship was clean and efficient. The Borg drones were clean. "First Contact" and "Voyager" ruined that. While the Borg were good villains in that movie and on that show, they ceased being a race of cyborg killing machines they were in "TNG."

"First Contact" aired, in sydnicated broadcast TV showings, on UPN stations. Including WWOR in New York. As did "TNG" the show. The WB could never touch it. And "Generations" and "First Contact" are the only true "Trek" movies in my eyes The 60s show sucked (fuck The WB, fuck CBS, fuck "Friends" and fuck WPIX for helping shove it down America's throats, starting with New York/Brooklyn, post-run). The movies were an improvement and Spock and Uhara are the only reason I don't hate the show completely and why some of the movies were good.
