So.... you have to defeat him.... with his own bombs? The ones that last like a second? Whilst also dodging energy ball spam, blue bola spam, lightning (I'm sure), and whatever else he comes up with? You don't get your stuff back? .... What? What was the point of all the upgrades? Like the sword and the gloves, the tunic and such? Like I could *_EASILY_* understand if your other equipment is useless against Agahnim, like those orbs and rods and such - he is the final boss, presumably - but you'd think that the Sword at least would be viable, and that getting better armor would ALWAYS be helpful. It feels like ALL of your equipment was only utility to just GET you to the Final Boss, and the Final Boss is a disjointed segment, completely separate from the rest of the game. It'd be like playing a... oh I dunno, a _PLATFORMER_ and suddenly you are playing an on-rails shooter game - like Touhou, or something. Completely unrelated. I've already seen a few comments pointing out that "only the hearts matter", and I guess, yeah.... Yeah. That's kinda sad. I mean, ultimately, if that's what the end-boss is, that's true. Though GETTING THERE does mean you need to improve your other gear just to REACH HIM. Still not how I'd want to play a game. .... I finally beat Zant, and climb Hyrule Castle with Midna, ready to save Zelda from Ganon's clutches, but Ganon tells me to stay my sword. "If you want me to stop my reign, you have to best me.... in a fishing mini-game! You have 10 minutes to get the biggest fish you can. Lemme tell ya! I cast a mean line!"
There's a LOT of complaint about the final boss. The creator of the mod said that by the time he got to making the final boss, he was facing some serious burnout, and that deleting everyone's inventories made it far easier to program than trying to keep all the items you can get in mind. But yeah, I agree with you, allowing you to keep your defensive items and sword, or at least your sword, would have been far better than just stripping you of everything.
I love this game, but I don't like the final boss. As a roguelike player it feels antithetical to craft your build for the whole run, to only have how much health you have and how much healing you had before the last boss be the only things that matters. Overall a great game however, I still love playing it even if the final boss I think is a misstep.
yeah, a hard final boss is fine, but the build we've spent 2 hours crafting just doesn't matter. and as you said, it's all about heart containers, and having a few soda's to down before entering the door. Great game though
the thing is, you need a specific sword or item to reflect aganhim's spells back at him, so if you don't have that, you could be locked into a scenario where you can't win. there's better ways to rework him, i'm sure, but doing it this way at least ensures that everyone who gets to aganhim has the chance to beat him
@@JasonBoyce That's from the original game though, the dev isn't forced to replicate that mechanic in this game. Simply making the final boss vulnerable to all damage would fix him IMO.
@@JasonBoyce If that is true, I like that even less. The game doesn't make any indications of you needing a specific item or where you would get it, and you can't be guaranteed to get up to even the Master Sword, which I have brought down to the final boss and had stolen. It's not a good puzzle to get to the end only to be told, "You didn't solve the puzzle I never told you anything about or that was even there."
I’ve said it before, I'll say it again. For lack of a better term, poos "crowd work" is beyond any other streamer I've seen. He actually seems like he cares about his "chat", and engages with them and treats them like friends. I think that says a lot about his character, and deserves pointing out. I'd have a beer with him.
If this crap wasn't labeled as a "roguelike" by the creator, i would've been more accepting of this boss. I am glad i watched streamers play this before trying it out myself because that's a huge nope from me.
@@darthimperious1594 that was basically my reaction to the difficulty spike after Rebel Town. I'm like "they're really throwing all this at me and I still just have 5 hearts and a basic sword? uninstall"

@@zerosixteen9433 The difficulty of the boss isn't the problem. It's the disconnect between the playstyle of the boss and the rest of the game. It'd be the same as playing a normal RPG, but then the boss was suddenly a first person shooter.
It's comical how the game just feels like a big troll, like it's well designed but that one aspects honestly ruins the whole experience. That type of boss should be a "secret boss" or a boss that appears as a challenge, what is the point of obtaining all these items when you are just relinquished of everything once you reach the boss.
@@airget I get what you're saying. But I was running it on stream last night and I haven't had this much fun with a game in a while. And knowing the final boss is like this, ahead of time, makes me okay with it all. Like... I got to level nine last night. I never play these kinds of games that far lol.
I can't say it enough, this is the worst ending boss to a game I've ever played, and I've been playing since the Atari years. Idiotically stupid and the antithesis to a fun game. Build your character up, make decisions for an hour or more just to find out it was all pointless and the only thing that matters is your hearts. Who even makes a game like that? Ugh.
It was just one dude that made a game for himself that he enjoyed and released for anyone else that likes it, and tons seem to. I don't see the problem
First, this boss fight is ridiculous and I hope it eventually changes. Second...getting rid of all the items? Is the creator of this game a Smash tryhard or something?
That's very fucked up... what is the point of the run, getting different builds etc. just for the final boss to take away all of your items fighting him bare hand.
boy, you love to see a final boss in which all the run up to that point didn't matter, that totally doesn't directly go against the whole design philosophy of roguelikes
Generally speaking, that is typically how it is for all boss fights from ALTTP and upwards. Only a very small portion of your inventory matters, as most items are rendered useless with no effect.
Halfway through and driving me crazy lol. You can safely slash the electric green monsters with dragon sword and you can collect rupees with your sword if they’re over spikes. Also you can transform anti-fairies into hearts with the rod. Or other things with other rods. My condolences on the boss though. If chat didn’t tell you, you have to pick up bombs and throw them. Not that I have any idea how that makes it possible to win, but still
Hey Poo... I was waiting on you during the first half of the video to realize that the green dragon sword is shock resistant and will kill those little green guys. I watched Ryu play and the shock sword is hella good
Yeah. It tells you if you read the description. Then the blood sword can kill more enemy types. Things you couldn’t hit before. And the final sword is just cool. Won’t say what it does
@yozarian86 i watched another video and some guy had the golden sword that shot the beams and he had some item that nullified spike damage... then he ran into Agahnim 😂😂
So can anyone explain the clock numbers/bombs? Was there a code Poo got earlier to know what order to place them or is it just Zelda lore like the Konami code? And what would have happened if he had one more bomb?
Game after finding out about the final boss is even more infuriating when you find out the creator is SUPER defensive when it comes to that fight and his statement over the complaints amounts to "Deal with it"
I was borderline annoyed when I found an invisible doorway today, because now not only do I have to look for cracks in the wall, I'm literally going to run across every wall that has space for another room past it from now on, and it's going to make my runs take way longer
Wxact same thing happened to me i figured out how to beat him when i had 1.5 hearts outta my 13 with master sword and 7 defense pendant of rebirth and 3 full health pots in inventory i thought there was no way i died.... until i did
Ehh, I think I designed a pretty good Zelda dungeon out of it. Thing is that with Mario maker, you're still hindered by its physics engine. Side scrolling platformer is completely different from the Zelda layout, and then there's the enemy differences. In this, he basically just ripped it from the official game making a few alterations to fit a roguelike design.

Should Nintendo have a game maker offer: $100,000 for this great game you made now we're going to sell it for $1-$5 because you used our game stuff. Maybe include a share of profits of game sales if the maker chooses to continue to update.
I'm honestly shocked that people don't mention how much the Insomniac Spider-Man games owe to the Batman Arkham games. Don't get me wrong, I think all three of the Insomniac Spideys have been great and arguably more consistently good than the Arkham games as a whole but Asylum and City are both better than any of the three by a solid margin.

Made it to floor 7 today, took 2 hits on the boss and was dead because i was saving my only refill but never got to use it in time.... Not even sure how to hit the boss 🤤
That would be the worst idea they’ve ever made. Gen Z wouldn’t buy an ugly old NES as a new console. I can’t believe Nintendo even chose to make the original NES look like that in the 80s. The famicon looked so much better. And super famicon looked a little better than SNES. Having a similar name is an interesting idea, but they literally can’t have an identical name due to their own Copyright.
Hey Poo, How about... the Nintendo EXperience Ultimate System? The Nexus? Considering you want parents to only say Nintendo and saying both the full name of NES and NEXUS would be long to remember, and only gamers can say NES and NEXUS, I think that's a good idea, right?
@@KingDiesel504 Or maybe everyone would have chefs kissed and called it a classic. Out of all the items you collected, none of them mattered except your hearts and bottles. Arrows, boomerang, magic rods don't work. The second time you fight Agahnim you have even more items, and they all don't do anything, except your armor. The only way to defeat him is by reflecting his magic missile back.
If the dev remade the entire game in GameMaker why not just replace all the sprites and sounds to be heavily inspired and similar and then just sell it and not get struck by Nintendo?

In my limited experience so far playing the game, early dungeons you should basically only buy sword and bag upgrades, unless you find something that is an absolute steal. Try not to buy *anything* before fully exploring the dungeon floor, to make sure you can afford those bag upgrades.
You could probably sell those to someone online if you bag 'em up before they go past funky into sour. For every horrible thought, there's a horrible human who had that thought and thought it was a good idea.
Nintendo would never call their next system the NES (or any name that could lead to people calling their system a Nintendo) because it caused a trademark issue before when people were calling all consoles "nintendos". By referring to all consoles generically as Nintendos, Nintendo would have to fight to not lose their trademark. They literally ran an ad campaign in the '90s to stop people from calling consoles Nintendos because of this. It's called a generic trademark. It's like if people started calling all watches rolexes, Rolex would have to fight to keep their trademark. It's interesting that companies like Band-Aid have been able to maintain their trademark despite the fact that everybody refers to bandages as Band-Aids and the same goes for Kleenex. It's one of the reasons why companies tend to avoid naming products after themselves. By the way, The last boss is pretty hard... Here's a hint, you can throw bombs.

If you think any content creator with other games to play and other shit to do is gonna go through all of that again after that rug pull, you're out of your damn mind
Dev literally said he had been at it for almost 4 years and just like finished the fight like that so he could get the game done. It's free, its cool. Yeah the fight pretty dumb as is. But like, all this hard criticism and like thumbs down for what is a solo fan project is ridiculous. Be happy that 99% of the game is so fun
Yeah I think it's fine. It's a stylistic preference that too many people are salty about because they get rekt hard and it goes against 'roguelike' convention.
This While I probably won't play the game anymore because of the final boss (It's a tad bit too brutal for me), I really enjoyed the gameplay feeling true to Link to the Past while being a roguelike. Really was a nostalgia trip for me and I'll credit to the dev where it's due. For it being 4 years in the making with almost no one to help him out... he really put out good work. :)
Imagine if Hopoo tried this shit with Mithrix. Risk of Rain 2 would have gotten review bombed HARD It's not just a dumb fight, it's a bullshit fight and people have a right to complain without others shielding the dev behind the guise of "free game" There's a reason why most, if not, all relevant content creators dropped the game after their first encounter with Aghanim

@@asherdevin 95% of Haitians are Christian, however, they also practice something called vodou. it's one of the most misunderstood religions, and it might be where the prejudice stems from. supposedly they have "animal sacrifices", which consist of pigs, goats, and chickens. They do indeed eat these "sacrifices", but, it's not really much different from a cookout.
It kinda does though, by defeating the entire point of the rest of the game. If all your item collection (except for hearts and healing items) amounts to nothing then it makes the boss completely disjointed from the rest of the game and might as well have been in a completely different fangame (like a boss rush game that gives you preset items that change each battle with alternate versions of the bosses with different attacks and patterns) that doesn't require you to rely so much on luck and skill for so long with only 1 chance to kill everything or get reset, if the boss doesn't care about anything you did the rest of the game. Fighting a beefier version of vanilla Agahnim in this arena and then having to fight Ganon immediately after would have made much more sense with the rest of the game, and made sense as one final challenge to survive that your items help with but it's still hard to deal with without getting any time to rest in between battles. Why some people don't know they need to throw the bombs back at Agahnim in this fight and get hit so often though, I have no idea. I'd understand if they got hit by the bombs while picking them up but seems like a lot of people get hit by easier to hit attacks or accidentally fall off the stage multiple times lol.
nintendo should shadow drop their next console, have it come out with 10 launch titles, that are all VR, and call it the Nintendo soul. VR sucks right now, but it could be good, if nintendo did it. i mean, imagine how HYPE that would be.
@@tristanpotter2183 nintendo is big enough to sell on their title alone. if a full fledged zelda game came out tomorrow without any mention of it, there would still be massive sales, only everything they see, AT LAUNCH, will be brand new, never before seen content in their living room the same day it comes out for everyone. it would be sensational. the problem with shadow drops, is that if no one knows about the game, no one will buy it. EVERYONE knows about Nintendo, and EVERYONE will know about it the same day it comes out. no idea why you would just randomly try to contradict me without any logic or reason behind it.
I have to assume people don't intentionally make bad products. So if VR sucks right now, what makes Nintendo specifically capable of doing what no other creator can do? The last time they did vr it was awful. They have ok ar, but that's not what you're saying, and I don't think exclusively ar games can carry a console. Now for a shadow drop, that means it's going to be an Amazon, Ebay, or Etsy exclusive. Somewhere where Nintendo sells the console itself because the gaming industry is failing right now. Gamestop can't afford to buy a bunch of consoles nobody knows about. Walmart might do it, but that depends on how their electronics are generally doing. If nobody is buying consoles or tvs, they have no reason to expect people will buy a console the don't know about, especially for vr.
In connection with GPB's observation about 3:30 in: Bad things don't happen because you got something good. Good things happen because you persevered through the bad, and came out the other side. Bruised, battered, maybe even broken, but you got through, and now you get your reward. The most important step a person can take is always the next one. This is a personal life philosophy of mine, and I don't know if anyone needs to hear it, but there you go, in case you do.
Or Nintendo can have a heart and buy the guy out and hire him as Game Director. Turning over a new leaf. Releasing Nintendo Maker a fan production game rivaling Roblox which pays creators directly... 😂🥲
