I leave the bottom button undone on my shirts, too. I personally think it looks bad ass!

People also need to understand that especially with suit or sport coats that those garments are tailored with the intention that the bottom button would be undone. Buttoning it negatively impacts how it is designed to drape on your body

Back in the '80s, I never saw anyone with the bottom button buttoned. These days, it's a lot more common.

I absolutely HATE the insecure feeling of the bottom button being unbuttoned. I agree it's a rule, and I deliberately break it on a daily basis.

The rule I remember was that the bottom button has to be open when sitting down. I've heard both options for the bottom button when standing.

Let me help you….. The general rule for buttoning vests or waist coats is to always leave the bottom button undone. This tradition dates back to King Edward VII, who unbuttoned his vest due to his expanding waistline. Buttoning all the buttons on a vest can create an uncomfortable strain on the fabric and restrict your movement. Every English gent worth their salt knows this. The current King of England and all English gentry follow this general rule.

John, how about you do a video on gents hygiene. I see so many blokes with dirty, long underwear cut finger nails. I’m the UK this is common (we can be a scruffy bunch). And exfoliating… I use quality exfoliating cream from Clinique and add a tiny bit of self tan to my moisturiser…. And go to the gym, don’t get soft and podgy… a little bit of a dad bod is fine but don’t kick the arse out of it…. Love your work buddy. Keep smashing it state side. 🇬🇧🇺🇸
