10 Marla Brutalist Dream Home: THE BOX House Tour:
In this innovative project, we boldly opted for raw first-class bricks (Awwal bricks) as a structural element, deviating from the conventional use of gutka or cladding fair face brick. This unconventional approach demanded expert labor and meticulous supervision to ensure precise calculation and transfer of structural loads onto the raw brickwork. Additionally, we incorporated kerri (mortar joint) to maintain the rough face finish, showcasing the natural beauty of the bricks.
While using fair face brick is a common and easier approach, our decision to use raw first-class bricks required careful planning and execution. However, this bold move resulted in a significant 10% cost reduction, as we eliminated the need for plaster and paint works.
As the project was awarded to Shelters on a turnkey basis, we faced numerous challenges along the way. Nevertheless, our client's unwavering trust and support enabled us to experiment with new ideas and push boundaries. We are grateful for their confidence in our capabilities and thrilled to have successfully delivered this one-of-a-kind project.
