@@Goldfishfan212 I did the same thing, I love that Amazon Prime shows the credits whenever you want, as soon as I heard the voice I was like, ain't no fucking way, moved my mouse to see the credits and gave one of the healthiest out loud laughs I've had in awhile
You asked "could she also manipulate him with that information". I think part of this is being foreshadowed in their conversation about Caesar. Homelander says "like Caesar" and Sage smiles and agrees. But Caesar historically was a bit of a brute ... not the savior who swooped in to save Rome. It was Augustus who feigned giving up power and played the savior of Rome to assume control... I think Sage is going to try and pull a Brutus on Homelander
We’re only 3 episodes in - but I am LOVING this season so far. Butcher is FINALLY acting like a human being after all this time and making choices that don’t always push the people he loves away since he has so little time left.
I think its really important to remember that Ryan is a kid who has very clearly devoulped empathy, and thats not something that can easily be erased by being around a bad influence like homelander. Homelanders God complex isnt a set of ideals that can easily be imposed on Ryan, its a sociopathy caused by his upbringing. Since Ryan is shown to be capible of Compassion, its going to be much harder for him to buy into homelanders beleifs.
@@eileensnow6153 I mean, maybe? Having a healthy childhood doesn't automatically spare you from mental illness, though I imagine it helps. But he wasn't raised like that anyways. He is by pretty much every definition a narcissistic sociopath. He's not just gonna learn empathy.
The actor who plays the deep should get more recognition, I feel like because of what his character did and still does people shy away from giving him his props... Just small stuff like how he sat in the chair sells the slimeball image of the deep
I didn’t recognize MM without the beard at first, I guess Clark Kent being unrecognizable with just glasses on isn’t so far fetch, because MM just had a mustache, and I was like… Who’s that? Lol
Black Noir is dead This is simply a new supe that (probably because of homelander) was forced to play Black Noir. It’s why he’s talking and reacting the way he does, the OG Black Noir would have had no problem killing (nor would he have said anything)
He might be alive. We did see Soldier Boy literally smash his brain out of his skull and he survived that, although with some pretty serious brain damage. The sequence of events for Noir's death lead me to believe he's alive too. Homelander ripped his guts out and left him bleeding on the floor, and we *explicitly see* that Homelander doesnt take the mask, because we see the cartoon characters in his mask as he "dies" (loses consciousness). Later, Homelander only presents Noir's mask to the group as proof he killed him. Why not show his whole body if he's dead downstairs, why just take the mask? Maybe Noir's "death" was him rejecting the costume and character. Maybe he realized Homelander was as bad as Soldier Boy, and decided to do something about it. Maybe Ashley deleted the footage of him leaving, same as she did with the proof of Maive's survival. It's a little tin-foiley, but I don't think it's impossible. TL;DR I think it's likely that Homelander/ Vought replaced Noir for appearances, but the real one survived and is still out there somewhere.
@@CancerMage then why replace him if hes still alive we have seen hes loyal to homelander 100% so its not out of the realm of possibility that noire would have seen what homelander did to him as a punishment for lying to him and stayed with him so why replace him
@@rileytruax766If the OG Noir goes off on his own and you don't want to admit to the public that a member of the 7 has gone rogue, you replace him and cover it up. He's literally a dude in a suit with no face, anyone with similar powers could play him. Noir may have seen the writing on the wall: that working for Homelander was just like working for Soldier Boy. Did he lie? No. He kept a secret, and revealed it the first time Homelander asked. And what did he get? His guts ripped out. That would probably change his mind.
@@CancerMage i literally just said we have reason to believe that he wouldn't leave i also corrected myself and said it technically wasnt a lie he just didnt tell him
Noir (Being Killed in private by home lander) They Just replaced him in secret. My First clue was seeing him with No Blades (Old Black Noir Had Throwing Knives all over his shoulders and Back. Some time's a Wakizashi Japanese short sword) The New Noir Is Very talkative... (I think it is the same actor. Playing same yet different Character)
At First I thought Maybe Sam from Gen V. (When i first Seem the teaser trailer) But I think he is to short. Has Schizophrenia. And Putting Sam in a Suit and Mask would make him freak out. Plus, unless He is properly Medicated Too unpredictable.
36:27 Caesar was assassinated by the senators of Rome, because he was trying to become a king by getting rid of all semblance of the republic Rome was.
And then his grandnephew and adoptive son Gaius Octavius, aka Octavian, aka Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus (yeah, the one they named the month after) used Caesar's assassination as an excuse to finish the job, inheriting Caesar's powers as a dictator (first together with Mark Antony and Marcus Lepidus, and later alone as emperor after getting rid of them), and turned the republic into an hereditary empire... so that attempt to save the republic kind of backfired, in the end.
And one of the assassins was Brutus, who was Caesar's close friend and protégé, to the point where some claim Caesar's last words were "you too, child?" (and not "you too, Brutus", as in Shakespeare's play). So if Homelander wants to be "like Caesar", he could die like Caesar, by the hand of his "child"
@@havok6280 Most people who know of Augustus refer to him as Augustus, or maybe Octavian, or possibly even Caesar Augustus, but never Caesar alone; when people say Caesar they mean _Julius_ Caesar. Of course, Sage being Sage she might be having a bit of a laugh at Homelander's ignorance, meaning that he'll end up dead (with maybe Ryan ending up as future emperor) while knowing that he'll misunderstand it as him ending up as emperor, but I'd excuse his ignorance in this case, most people know of only one Caesar, besides the salad an the pizza place.
0:51 "That rat bastard" 🤣 7:40 The dreaded "Grey Pube".😱👴 13:43 The fact that Angela seems to unironically enjoy "Never Gonna Give You Up" makes me like her even more.😻 13:59 There's the Rat Bastard.😁 John "Negan" Winchester himself. They just gotta have him holding a bat at some point.
Welp - she didnt have to hate on Todd for long ey :D. PS the reason Homelander is freaking out about the grey pubes is because hes experiencing mortality.
Sage was an excellent introduction to the cast. Not afraid to speak her mind, even if it could get her head lasered in half and she’s right all the time. May not have other powers but you’d be a fool to underestimate her
@@flaggerify Super smart people will adjust their vocabulary to put those they're concerned about at ease. It doesn't take a genius to realize that coming across as superior to Homelander is a death sentence. The hardest part for her about that conversation was probably to not break out laughing when Homelander compared himself to Julius Caeser, unwittingly perfectly identifying himself with what I expect is her ultimate goal.
I think Frenchie looking at that picture of Colin's graduation just reminded him that Colin has a normal life, while he's mixed up in a lot of messed up and dangerous stuff.
I think that Hughie is shouldering too much guilt, but he is also not completely free of it. There are warning signs of strokes, and perhaps if he had taken his father‘s phone call he would have seen some of the signs develop and been able to get his father help faster.
Deep is able to TALK to sea animals that’s the ONLY reason he has relations with them. Plus he himself is not even human so even if he does it with another Human, it’s technically a different species.
Being able to have conversations with fish is the most messed up power in the show. It implies fish are sentient and have a culture similar to humans. Personally, I still hope he can't and that he's delusional.
@@haha-lj5sq He could do all that with Aquaman's aquatic telepathy, though. The rest - what they're 'saying', their names, etc - could just be how his brain is choosing to process things. The hardest evidence against the 'mind control in the hands of a messed up mind' is the fish in s1 finding the black box. Even that, though, could be a command to investigate and processing actual fish thoughts (flashes of imagery and other sensory data at best) as full on conversations. The Boys is messed up enough to go either way: delusional mind controlling fish-frakker or fishermen being worse than a thousand Genghis Khans. Flip a coin. :)
Black Noir doesn't regenerate... We've seen his face and body covered in battle scars... We've heard Black Noir speak before.... in flashbacks.... that's not what his voice sounds like....
When Homelender comes into the kitchen everybodey is so scared no one ever notices the ''No mean no, this is no Neverland ranch'' joke which is hilarious.
13:49 - not sure if you've missed it, but it's Singer, the person who IS running for presidency while Neuman is his vice-president because The Deep killed the previous one at the end of s3. Hence, she is one my heartbeat from the presidency remark.
Ayyy love that you shouted out Sage’s Palace shirt. I live 10 mins from where the palace used to be and it was so cool seeing it pop up out of nowhere in a show like this
When you think about a chess player who sees eight or ten moves ahead, Sister Sage sees far enough ahead to know when Homelander will flip the board rather than concede.
Awesome reaction! You're the first person I've seen mention the correlation between Newman's possible invulnerability & Marie. Probably since you recently watched Gen V. I'm glad someone else noticed.
“Could she manipulate him?” I suspect that’s exactly what she has in mind. Homelander thinks he’s using her, but she intends to use him. I don’t know why, but this is The Boys, so it will be something terrible.
I have watched a lot of reactions to this episode. You are the only one I've seen that remembered Marie took the blast from Homelander, and figured out that it was because they have the same powers!
13:12 Thank you! You're the first reactor I've seen to point that out. 22:44 Soooo, going back to Invincible on that topic. ;) 27:47 Black Noir is dead. 36:14 He got stabbed to death by most of his senators or something IIRC.
Homelander just put some unknown (for now) supe in Black Noir's suit so he avoids looking weak by losing more members of the seven and to hide the fact that he murderd him.
43:34 I hear you. When we have to wait years in between seasons, I tend to forget a lot of details, unless I have been watching reactions to previous seasons. I've only seen _GoT_ once, but I've seen so many reactions to it that I never forgot what happened. On the flip side, I completely forgot what happened in the first 2 seasons of _Succession,_ and because none of my favorite reactions reacted to it until now (Normies), I feel compelled to rewatch the show before I start S3, and S4. Same goes for _Barry._ I only feel comfortable doing that for a really great show, though. For average shows like _The Witcher,_ I'm not even going to bother. If I don't remember, fuck it.
The biggest surprise for me this season has to be that they somehow got Tilda Swinton to be the voice of Ambrosius the octopus. I mean, that is one hell of a seductive voice.
You're not missing anything with Noir. It'll start making sense. This season feels like a quite different tone from the other seasons. Still enjoying it, but it's feeling a bit more serious. I suppose when you've got that ep 1 Termite scene and Herogasm, it'd be pretty hard to top that.
Black Noir had an epiphany at the end of the last season, in that half an animated episode, and voiced a decenting opinion. Which is why Homelander gutted him.
that's not the real black noir, that's just a fake replacement so the public doesn't know the real black noir is dead. But this dummy keeps talking when the original black noir shouldn't be talking therefore keeps breaking character.
Frenchie in the comics was definitely sexually fluent 😂 ive gotten a kick out of people complaining that other comic book companies are "forcing" diversity and "agendas" but this is their favorite show. I hope they dont complain about this 🤞🏾
Wasn't it already shown, or at least implied, that he was in a relationship with both Cherie and Jay, the guy who OD'd leading to the Lamplighter fiasco and Grace's grandchildren dying? I thought that's what it was, but maybe they really were just friends. It was season 2 so I don't recall all the details
@@pabloc8808 Yes... I rewatched previous seasons in preparation for season four and there are many times in the show that indicated that Frenchie is very open sexually.... - Jay - Telling M.M. to be more open minded when he freaked out about the "love sausage" - Transgender strippers
@@The5armdamput33 I didn't really rewatch the other seasons before this one (fake fan, booo), so thank you for listing those moments, I knew I wasn't crazy lol
14:50 Greatest.Mug.Ever. 😂 16:29 Bless you twice. 18:21 The continuing parallels between The Home Team and MAGAts is an excellent and timely allegory. 30:00 A well-played false-flag operation. Sister Sage might be the most dangerous character in the whole show. And she's really funny. 32:20 Yup, I thought it was Lenny too.
It's crazy that there's people out there that watch this show and root for Homelander. But it's also crazy that there's people out there that would elect a reality show host as president.
Here's something I still don't get, like why is Nueman considered a "big bad" that MUST be stopped? Like she's not campaigning for Supe surpremacy or anything, she popped a few head sure but she's hardly Homelander levels of antagonist
Sage is a great addition to the cast, she is like a Lex Luther this season. Just you wait and see the next 2 episodes. Things get wild! Firecracker is another addition to the show. You seen her earlier in this episode. The original Black Noir is dead, but they got a replacement to put on the suit. We still don't know who this is, but yes he talks too much more than he should.
Sage predictions: I expect she's absolutely aware that someone in the Homelander fan group is likely being followed/watched, and that that's part of her larger plan. Smartest person in the world knows darn well she can't ever cease to be of use to Homelander now that she's in his sights unless she's got some means to end him.
Back on my bullshit: Telling everyone to watch Dead Boy Detectives before season 2 of The Sandman drops unless you want to be like The Boys fans watching season 4 without any Gen V knowledge
44:24 Girl, you mentioned _Bridgerton,_ and then you mentioned Colin, but you were referring to Frenchie's new BF. You got me confused! Because that's not the Colin I was thinking about!
So, the TLDR on Ceasar (in the context of what Sage is talking about, she more likely means Augustus than Julius) is that he rose to power after a few decades of riots and civil wars. Julius Ceasar was particularly talented at using public popularity and military power to enact his (mostly) progressive policies, but it also required/enabled him to assume increasing amounts of autocratic power. Conversely, Octavian/Augustus refused the title of dictator, but is still the first "Emperor of Rome" because after all of the chaos, the senate and people were willing to invest him with multiple positions and titles in order to keep things peaceful and prosperous.
This is often how "strongmen" or autocrats come to power, through the idea that the current system is broken and you need to invest one person with unchecked power to "fix" things. And the people who DON'T use that unchecked power to secure their own position, are quickly replaced by someone who will. It is the entire problem with hero-worship that Annie is struggling with: it's easier to emotionally invest with a symbol than actually work to support the cause. And it's not just her lack of PR skills or reluctance to assume the mantle that make her a weaker figurehead than Homelander. People don't believe in someone because "she seems nice," they have to believe she'll DO something with the influence they invest with her...and despite his gaffes, his boorishness and his mania, Homlander CONSTANTLY asserts his willingness to use power.
Not really a spoiler, as it's elaborated in the next episodes. But it's just a random supe playing his role. Funny fact is that it seems that they didn't change the actor.
EDIT: As always I comment too early...reckon FLG is on the same...train...of thought that I am. I'm not entirely convinced that Sage is as super-smart as she's propped up as being -- I suspect she's rigging the system for her own advantage. (Please keep in mind I haven't read the books and that the comics are often very different from the show, so I'm not intentionally spoiling anything, this is just my conjecture!). Or for someone else's...Could Butcher have somehow planted Sage on the Seven's radar so that she can manipulate them from within? Again, just conjecture, but he's awful sneaky, that Butcher. I don't think it takes a Reed Richards or Tony Stark level intellect to be able to manipulate the man-babies of the Seven. While Homelander is pretty devious and seems to be able to think on his feet (at least prior to recently, he now seems to get lost in his own head), he seems pretty easy to manipulate. I reckon anyone paying attention would be able to figure out how to do so. The Deep and A-Train are so specifically motivated that I reckon my five-year old cousin could convince them to do what she wanted. Same can more or less be said for The Boys -- there's been growth, sure, but they're fairly predictable. I wonder to what degree Sage is a meta-commentary on that versus how her intelligence will play into the plot, versus a little from column A, a little from column B. PS - I know it came up below/earlier -- props to deanthemachine -- but the "new" Black Noir is the same actor but, in-world, Vought just put someone else behind the mask. While I already specified I haven't read the books, I do know a very big spoiler about Black Noir that I think Kripke et al. have moved away from. I won't mention it here, but it's bonkers. The fact that the 'new' Black Noir seems to just be a dude in a suit seems super-interesting to me. Does he have powers? OG BN sure could chuck Starlight around... To that end, does every Supe automatically have enhanced strength and constitution? Is this something I missed along the way? Seems like all of them can punch through marble and taking a punch from someone who can punch through marble doesn't immediately liquify their organs. Obviously Soldier Boy and Homelander are tougher, but we know that Maeve's arm was busted catching a school bus, we know Kimiko is basically Wolverine (or X-23) without the claws (she has dildos for that, after all). But it seems like having powers basically just grants +15 to all stats. Is there some in-show explanation for this? Or are we all just cool with Supes punching the shit out of each other and we leave it at that? (I'm fine with the latter). PPS -- I hope y'all Americans out there understand how important it is to vote. Sorry to get political (even though The Boys as about as directly political as a show can be), but it just so happens that one of the grossest Republicans out there is named...buckle up...Russell Vought.
