It was actually kind of a brilliant move on Homelander's part to take Ryan's desire to help people and twist it to support his humans are our toys narrative.
And it's exactly what Homelander worked through last episode. He was created and treated well by Vogelbaum who raised him for a good purpose, to be the world's strongest hero and help people - but the workers at Vought twisted it by treating him like a toy to abuse and laugh at. It's like the "cycle of abuse", always repeating
@@MasterKey2004 except it's entirely different as homelander is just teaching his son as a father compared to scientists trying to make homelander dependant on approval
First scene w Kessler, CIA lunchroom, Butcher pulls out a bottle and pours into two cups. Kessler never drinks. Samir looks confused at who Butcher is talking to. No other interactions between Kessler and anyone else
Yea, and kinda weird timing to appear there also, if he is real there, cos they drove away to that place etc, seems more weird if he would stalk they all the way there to not really do much.
Man, the scenes with Hughie's dad having memory loss and being afraid hit me real hard. After losing my dad to cancer a year ago and the rapid decline he went through beforehand, that part was especially emotional.
Yeah. Kinda reminds me of my grandma who passed away from cancer last year as well. It was rather sad seeing her lose energy as time went and while she was taking chemotherapy. Sorry for your loss
I went back to watch ep.1 when Kessler first showed up in the CIA building, and there's a shot where Butcher pours Kessler a drink, but Kessler never drinks it. Probably the first tease that Kessler may not be there.
The title in the MCU parody yall couldn't read was "homelander vs soldier boy: Annihilation" - Also Teenage Kix included A-train, pop claw, sister sage, & mesmir as members
I'm thinking Negan(Joe) is a hallucination also. We never see him interact with anyone but Butcher. They're pulling a Beautiful Mind on us. Later they'll probably reveal Joe's been dead for years.
Saw a comment on reddit that the sheep have spent their whole life knowing that they can't get through the barn doors and walls so they wouldn't even try.
Suddenly Dads decision to give mom the power of attorney back. Knowing his brain was going and how much it would hurt his little boy. and then The kinda of parallel of ability of Hughie being a teleporter and his dad being a phaser. I dont know if i can put that into words completely yet but the impulsive Hughier and the apathetic Father who lets things go by not wanting to get caught up in anything. Man its crazy but for a character thats barely been in the show the last few seasons give us such emotional heartache.
I firmly believe that the Parasite within Butcher is the Boys version of the Venom Symbiote. Temp V creates a parasite within the body that grants superpowers, but with each dose, you feed the parasite, you make it stronger. If you do only a dose or two, the parasite will eventually starve and die. However, one dose too many, and the parasite becomes strong enough to survive. Butcher's Parasite not only is alive, but is also powered by real V, and is now a thinking, methodical creature. It likes Butcher, it doesn't want to kill him like the other one did to the rabbit, but it wants to understand Butcher as well, to know how it can help Butcher. So the creature speaks to Butcher, pushing him in different directions to figure out what kind of person he is, appearing as both Becca and Kessler. The parasite is protective of Butcher, and I doubt it will let him go...
Never mind the Bollocks... Butcher said that. Isn't that an album name of the Sex Pistols? We've had some Sex Pistols songs in the show, are there more references?
Kessler is 100% the "Vemon" inside of Butcher projecting itself using Butchers memories. Im more interested about the events that led the Gen V characters to appear and how she regrew her arm after having it "popped"
Okay, so I don’t have a good track record with guesses like this and this show, but I’m guessing JDM’s character isn’t real at this point. He only ever appears with Butcher, and at times he’ll just be there in a scene with Butcher and not be shown walking in or anything, he’s just with him. I think he’s the devil on his shoulder to the angel that is Becca. Trying to get him to do stuff like kidnap Ryan last episode, or kidnap the doctor in this one. Anyway, we’ll probably find out eventually and I’m not going to be upset if I’m wrong, but it’s starting to really feel that way.
I know plenty of characters appear in a scene with each other without them showing up in the scene, but they’re established characters in that they have been shown solo and in scenes with other characters. JDM is *only* ever with Butcher. He’s never on his own, and he’s never with anybody else. Nor do they *ever* show him coming into the scene. He’s just there.
A big theme this season has been consequences of past and the burden of guilt. Annie is haunted by Firecracker now for her treatment of her in the past, Frenchie is directly haunted by the murders he's commited in the past, Kimiko is dealing with whatever history she has with that girl, Homelander has confronted his upbringing, and Hughie has started to move past his losses because of the guilt and redemption A-Train is going through, as well as this episode being the first one to truly right a wrong caused by his actions. With Butcher, I 100% believe Kessler is a hallucination, and I believe that, like Becca, he has been dead since the incident they mentioned in the first episode either directly or indirectly because of Butcher.
Yeahhhh Billy's "dying brain" (or whatever is happening to him) has clearly created these two personas to represent different parts of himself; Becca to represent the good of him - the part he wants to be - versus JDM being the bad part of him - the part he needs to be. Really interesting, I'm just looking forward to whether he actually dies or becomes The Boys' Venom!
I think in any media where I have seen a "villain" getting framed and then punished for a crime they didn't commit its really hilarious. Remember Ikarus? He did it. Lol.
37:33 well, it's been shown that compound V acts similarly to steroids, in the idea that while enhancing performance, it also causes impulsive and violent behaviour, also known as roid rage. Hugh Sr., who wouldn't hurt a fly, wanted to kill Daphne and his son, after deliberatelly killing that security guard. The sheep and the rest of the animals as well wanted to kill.
I'm with Aaron. But it got me even worse. 😅 Couldn't stop repeating "this man is in no condition to fuck a sheep" for two minutes while crying from laughter. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Completely lost it.
I'm a little annoyed that the team does not want to acknowledge butchers positive actions at all. They're so stuck in not giving him anymore chances that they kind of make the situation worse. Everytime butcher does the right thing he gets rebuffed. He tells them the truth about his health everyone gets mad. He does the right thing with Ryan and tells mm and gets told that is doesn't matter. He doesn't take Newman's deal but everyone's just mad that the possibility of that deal even existed. And i feel like butcher feels so alone and rejected at this point that he's given up on trying to be better. He's lost his last chance doing the right thing hasn't gotten him anywhere so now he's fully leaning into the dark side (Joe?) which is probably a lot worse than the worst we've seen of him so far.
I sort of understand you. Butcher in the first half of this season has been putting an effort to improve and be a reliable friend, yet those who saw the worst of him in the past can't simply take it now. I just hope the "good side" (Becca) comes back to him giving him back to his senses before he does something unrepairable.
I've definitely gotten more and more suspicious of Joe. In addition to never talking to anybody else or really interacting with his environment. He seems to want to isolate butcher making it clear that it should just be "the two of them" working together. He also just know too many specific personal things about the emotional status of the boys which seems weird. And he just feels like the antithesis to Becca, kind of like the devil on butchers shoulder whole Becca is the Angel. It feels like everytime butcher listens to Becca and does the right thing but then still gets rejected by the boy he starts to lean more and more into doing what Joe wants aka "the wrong thing". Idk that last scene especially just felt off. Something's not right
Ok I 100% think Kessler isn't there and is the dark persona of Butcher's mind, because Samir looked like Butcher was even more crazy when he said us and looked Kessler's way, because there's no one there. Reel Rejects gave me this thought, and I 100% believe it after this episode.
This is a wild theory I think Butcher and the Rabbit are in similar yet different Situation. Like a red herring. (The rabbit was given Way More Temp V (He was Hooked to a Full Bag. which it probably was injected By 10 time's the Amount Of That ''Temp'' Than Both Hughie and Butcher ever took) I think the Temp V (only Gave Butcher the Cancerous cell's) The Compound V May have Mutated the Cancer into a Parasitic Being. And Instead of a Tentacle Monster Popping out of His Body. The Parasite maybe Bounding to Butcher. Slowly Given Butcher V powers. I think it maybe Feeding off Butcher's Emotions. And Using the 2 Most influential People that Butcher ever Knew. To communicate with Butcher? Becca being the Positive Emotional Rock. Kessler the Negative side of Butcher (Like the season-1 butcher a more extreme world view.) (Kessler May Have Been Butchers CO And father figure. They Talked about Buther carrying a wounded Kessler out of some operation. What if Kessler did not make it?) The coffee was a ''Irish breakfast shot'' (And Butcher poured the coffee. and had the bottle and he was the only one drinking.) And Yea the Doctor Looked Concerned when Butcher was saying we will. and the Doctor also said you. (Not -you both)
12:15 their noses were bleeding because Victoria was fucking with them right before she made her entrance. it wasn't the virus -- remember, humans aren't affected by the virus but Frenchie and MM got nosebleeds.
From the looks of it, The animals were given Regular V, the blue, and Temp V, the green. Butcher reveals that he was micro dosing regular V and it "didnt do anything". Those tentacles that we see from the bunny must be whats inside butcher.
Me and my friends were high as shit last night and that part broke us so much we had to pause, my friend next to me spit a shit load of soda all over the desk as well 😂
This episode all but confirmed for me that Kessler is in Butchers head, he probably died in that mission referenced at the start of the season and is the devil on Billy’s shoulder, kind of the opposite role Becca’s taking
I mean, he doesn't even have to be dead, it could just be that Kessler is very well alive somewhere and Butcher plainly didn't bother to contact him in those 11 years, but yeah, he definitely is the evil hallucination
Especially with how covert the team has to be now that they are working with the Defense Sec/ Potential President Canidate, I DOUBT Kessler would be able to know that much information about the team.
@@bignoseandrew I feel like the emotional stinger is that Butcher got the real Kessler killed by being his brutal self, and the hallucination embodies a guilt driven sunk cost fallacy driving him away from healing as a person.
This episode further demonstrated that Huey is rapidly becoming the Rick Grimes of the Boys universe--the man who must make the hard decisions and sacrifices to protect others, and who will get his hands dirty while also not losing his soul in the process.
An impeccable acting performance by Karl Urban, Simon Pegg and Jack Quaid. All our hearts were stolen.😭😭 Here you had it from this entire episode. Tension, anxiety, chaos, deaths and Frenchy giving themselves over.
I think those tentacle creatures are the result of first the tumors created by temp v . Then the tumors not butcher , (or the rabbit in this case) get enhanced by full V making a venom like symbiote
The parasite in Butcher is clearly steering him in a certain direction. First Becca appearing, then Kessler shortly after. This episode just proved to me that Kessler is one as well. I think if Butcher gets his hands on more of the virus the parasite is gonna take action or something like that.
@migek I kinda want them to go through with it, honestly. But I feel he's gonna change his mind himself, maybe. I don't really wanna see that. I want Hughie to be the one to stop him, like in the comics.
