It was created shortly after The Stonewall Riot that debuted Way Off Broadway in New York City. It became a Movie in 1970 and sadly enough out of The Nine "Original Actors" at least Five died of AIDS Related Illnesses. Kenneth Nelson (Michael), Leonard Frey (Harold), Keith Prentice (Larry), Robert LaTourneaux (Cowboy), and Frederick Combs (Donald). Cliff Gorman was so convincing as Emory people would admonish him and he and his wife took in Robert LaTourneaux when he was dying of AIDS. He couldn't get acting parts, hustled and even did Porn to make ends meet. Laurence Luckinbill (Hank) is still alive as is Peter White (Alan) and sadly Reuben Greene (Bernard) died a couple of years ago. Laurence Luckinbill and Robert La Tourneaux both appeared on Search For Tomorrow (1951-1986) where Peter White played Lincoln "Linc" Tyler on All My Children that in 2003 had it's first Same Sex Kiss. The 2020 Version had Two Soap Alumni. Tuc Watkins (Larry 2020) was on One Life To Live as David Vickers and Matt Bomer (Donald 2020) was on All My Children and Guiding Light. I'm not sure about The Actor who played Alan but all of the actors from the 2020 Version are Gay. They even made the Cover of Attitude Magazine. I had no idea there was a UK Version.
They were arrested for participating in 'lewd' activity, not for being with other gay men as such. It was a ridiculous pretext but they weren't formally arrested for being in the company of each other. Freedom of association in the U.S. would have not permitted that.
