Only Ann-Marie can sing this song so beautifully in my humble opinion. I often sat at My Da's bedside as the cancer shrunk this once big strong Kerry Man to a bag of bones. This song means so much to me. Thank you Ann-Marie. I have this special song that is just mine n Mikey-Joe Reidy's may he RIP
You have to feel the story in order to sing this song and my God Anne/Marie has the feeling of it. Absolutely the best rendition I have ever heard. You can feel yourself part of that group of boys as they grow up to fight for their country. The Boys of Barr na Straide will live for ever🙏💚
Yes! Yes! Said by an English born 'Rebel'. It's not about you Annemarie, but about the principles. IE The men who stood up, & fought. And died. I stand by those men & boys who fought for justice. Always. And I love your song too.
Takes my breath away every time I hear it! My Grandad lived in that street (as did Sigerson Clifford) so it means so much. I'v heard loads of versions of this song but nobody comes anywhere near Annmarie's rendition - FABULOUS!!!
Hi All, Thank you very much for the lovely comments. This song was taken from my second album "Melody in Harmony" which was released in 2005. Just released my third album "Ireland-Love of my Heart" which is available in all good record stores and being distributed by RMG Chart! I hope you all enjoy it and I'm awaiting your comments!!! Le gach dea ghui, Annmarie. xXx
I have been attending a local Irish session since August and learning trad. music, and about the Ireland my ancestors came from in the famine years. I'm proud to have descended from people who enjoyed the kind of music that you sing! Your voice is beautiful; never stop sharing what God gave you!
Annmarie's rendering of all her songs is excellent but this one is extra special to me as she is singing about my hometown beneath the hill on the South West Kerry coast. Annmarie, mo cheol thu.
Greetings from America... I recently discovered your Chanel... you have a beautiful voice and I am enjoying the traditional Irish music...my ancestors came to America in the 1700s
What a powerful and brassy voice. Like the sun bursting through the clouds of my mind. Sing anything to me; it will pull me through the air, across the ocean.

This is a classic masterpiece of Irish Freedom Fighters bravery , sang by a voice that can only be described as masterful in all its glory , a timeless classic , the excellent Annemarie O Riordan.
Hi Annmarie, great version the boys of barr na sraide, great rebel song.. this song was played at my nan funeral 13th January 2002... its bring back meomeries. this song would bring tear to your eye..😊😢😂
This version is sung to the tune of "Spancil Hill." I first heard this song on a Gaelic language radio program that was broadcast in 1989 over WNTN in Newton, Mass. Thank you.
Powerful version. From one who lives overseas, I truly love this song, and have heard it sang many times from a very young age. For me I cannot think of a better delivery (MOM's recitation of it in 100 Great Irish Poems by 100 Great Irish Voices, I also love, and it's deep). A song I always associated with the male voice (The Bould Thady as well) I now associate differently. And it's hard to change an old man set in his ways. I know many great voices are out there, but when you associate certain songs in certain ways, it can be damn difficult to change track (pun intended). I can only recall Emmy-Lou Harris ever doing that previously. Please keep it going, Annmarie!
lovely awesomeness vocals powerful voice sending people a msg in her singing voice keep up the amazing gbnf rip too our loved one travellers community's God bless Amen 💙💚💛
Beautiful voice made all the richer by the love of Ireland in every breath behind the words. I wish her a brilliant future career that surpasses her every hope and dream. 💚
Great pace and timing on this very special song well done you captured the soul of the song.....believe me I have heard this song many times.....you have something very special girl keep going look at Delores Keane for inspiration. ...good luck to you from a Kerryman
A great Kerry song by Sigerson, sung with feeling by wonderful songer. One of my favourite Irish about a place I visited, when I walked the beatiful Ring Of Kerry in just over 22 hours. My final big challenge, helped by a great back up squad, the best I ever had. Thank you, Kerry folk for your truly warm welcome, on number of occasion when I holidayed or did challenge walks.🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Beautiful Lady, A voice gifted from god, makes me cry and smile at the same time, that even in this mad evil world, angels are close by. The purity of truth, not easy to swallow, but an angel all the same. Thank you very much.
This song mentions thje Sheehans, Con and Da , which reminds me of 2 other Sheehan brothers, Batt and Dave, who were natives of my native townland of Garravane. Batt and Dave were active in the Tournafulla I.R.A. Company in the West Limerick Brigade, in 1919-1921. Their uncle Michael Sheehan was Sheriff of San Mateo County, Calif. at the time, and he took 2 Thompson machineguns and a quantity of ammo to the Cork City Brigade in February, 1921.
@@davidsheehan7022 Dave, I was in the Kitchen of Batt's house in Garravane one night about sixty years ago as a Small boy. Both himself and Hann, his wife were very welcoming people. May they rest in peace. My uncle was married to Hann's niece.
