The scene where starlight was sexually assaulted took place in the comics as well and Eric Kripke almost didnt adapt it into the tv series. He did it under 2 conditions. -Starlight would rise above the pain -The Deep would be punished.

Loved Dani's observation abt actors trying to do "bad acting". Anthony Starr has been quite a revelation for this show. His 1001 expressions when Mesmer thought he could get through to him were hilarious!

Interesting you mentioned the silent Asian woman character trope. The actor, Karen Fukuhara, also played a silent Asian character prior to this role on the Boys when she appeared in Suicide Squad as Katana. So the earlier commercial The Deep was shooting at the beach was to depict how he was concerned about the environment, but later after he was on his way to Ohio, he was driving a Hummer, so clearly that doesn't concern him

Mesmer* is actually Haley Joel Osment. The famous kid actor from The Sixth Sense and a bunch of other 90’s movies.

Kimiko may not be a speaking role, but Karen Fukuhara who plays her is such an amazing actress. She turns that not-speaking role into one of the most interesting and sympathetic, but also badass characters just through her expressiveness and body language. I love Kimiko. She's a standout amongst standouts.

tbh i understand why mesmer would do that. to us the audience, we know that the boys aren't the enemy but in mesmer's perspective, they are the ones who bribed him using his daughter, broke his arm and threatened him. even if i were him, i wouldn't think those people are the good guys. i would much rather side to the people who can give me opportunity. we know what's the situation, the characters don't.

They thought Mesmer hated Vought because Vought fired him, but that just left Mesmer desperate for a job, or money, or fame, which of course meant that he wanted to get back into Vought most of all. It was pretty risky to go to him, especially to his house. After hacking those web cams in Popclaw's apartment, they should have known how easy it is to end up on camera without knowing it. The better option would probably have been to ask Kimiko to just write her story down. Even if she wrote it in Japanese, it would've been a lot easier to find someone who could read Japanese than it was to find someone who could read her mind.

Ya know, the thing is that in general compound v enhances the body significantly in all aspects to varying degrees regardless of your super powers. Basically, even if your super power is strength and durability, your intelligence and reflexes will still be super humanly heightened and vice versa. So even a psychic is able to run a marathon without breaking a sweat, or heal from grievous injuries.... one super hero which could be considered a Russian equivalent to captain America was able to survive for over 12+ hours completely cut in half from his biceps down.... literally being able to drag himself to a computer and type out a last message to hughie who he was friends with before he died. Most are immune to small arms fire as well and have the capacity to be geniuses.... so the whole reason I typed all this up is, the fact that it takes them SEVERAL meetings with the boys to finally realize they’ve seen them before speaks volumes to how slack, untrained, and careless they are due to their company and power carrying their entire life.

Love the reaction, this and Daredevil are one of the best live-action super heroes tv- shows ever.

I love Butcher and this is the episode that truly cemented him as my favorite 🤘🏽 As usual his scenes are great in this episode, especially the one when he’s with Hughie at the group meeting.
