It's just like Vogelbaum said: super-babies raised without their mothers become violent and unstable - so they took advantage of a perfect opportunity to raise a brand-new, more stable Homelander (complete with suburban home and loving Mommy). :)

@@Geeageee I think the no father thing might have been intentional. Single parent moms (usually) have the tendancies to give theire child more love, care and support than moms from full families to compansate for the missing father figure. So Vogelbaund might have done that intentionally to give his 2nd Homelander the bigging John never had. Also If the story goes down the way I think it will than we wont see too much of the kid.. :/

To answer a few questions you raised: 1. How did Starlight know where to go? As Huey pointed out, she has clearance and could look it up. 2. Why is A-Train there? His line was "YOU were the jailbreak?" so he heard an alarm and was the first to arrive. (Fastest man alive...) 3. Why keep the wife alive: You got there after I started the comment. Dr. Vogelbaum's plan. Great reactions!! Can't wait to see more from you two. (Cough) Umbrella Academy (Cough) :-)

The whole reason Hughie went to Starlight in the first place is because she had security clearance and could find out where the Boys were being held. So she didn’t really just pop up out of nowhere without any explanation.

I like the duality of the ending. Butcher thinks he can hurt Homelander by killing Stillwell. But Homelander doesn't (really) care for her. But Homelander can hurt Butcher because Butcher does have someone he cares about.

When you guys mentioned Mr. Edgar being "Gus" I thought you were also going to remark on his "Breaking Bad" reference about vacationing in Belize. Homelander is Vought's "Frankenstein's Monster" and he is running amok. Vought no longer has Stillwell to try to keep Homelander in line. As you mentioned - Homelander is definitely enjoying tormenting Butcher with the truth about Becca. My guess - Vought put Becca up to doing the deed with Homelander because they knew in advance a superchild would result. Vought intended to raise Homelander's son as a real force for good and they hoped he could stop Homelander in the future. But Vought failed - Homelander now knows and will probably want to raise his son in his own image.

I like this theory because it doesn't go with the lazy/easy plot of "Vought is 100% evil full stop." It's way more believable for them to have created a monster and now be doing whatever they can to stop that monster, no matter the cost

Honestly, I think Homelander's 'game' at this point isn't a game, it's just exposing the truth. By saving Butcher and having him see for himself, he's now totally won. Butcher's whole motivation and focus since Becca's disappearance is just kind of a moot point now, which I think sets him up for a real interesting season 2.

The other reason Vought had to keep Becca a secret is Homelander proved them wrong that supes couldn't reproduce naturally, which was something Vought was trying to avoid and prevent through Compound V. Edit: There's 2 trailers.

They wouldn't want supe babies multiplying beyond their control and they would want tabs and to "own" all supe babies. Also, do babies born from supes have super powers naturally without the aid of Compound V or were Translucent's and Homelander's children juiced up with it as babies?

@Joe Greene True, but Mesmer's child didn't show any signs of having any powers whatsoever. Perhaps Vought only cares about babies with powers? Or perhaps supes powers can't be passed down like genes normally but it's such a big deal with Homelander because maybe he did pass some of his powers down like genes and his son might be the first natural born supe ever that didn't need help from Compound V and that's what Vought didn't expect?

I think they kept the kid alive to be what homelander couldn’t be and to eventually kill him if he got out of control. Like you said, the professor said that his biggest mistake was not allowing homelander to be with a mother. That’s the only reason that Becca is still alive.

I don't think Homelander hates Butcher or wants to 'torture' him. I think your impression of Homelander is off. He's not a simple black and white 'evil' mustache twirler villain. He is a complete sociopath, but he's also highly intelligent and KNOWs that he was created as an emotionally unbalanced sociopath because of his 'father's (Vogelbaum) laboratory version of a childhood. I think Homelander genuinely likes, or is curiously bemused of Butcher. He's a normal human that outsmarted and took on supers with no fear and faced him down. "You're dark, and I kinda like it." I don't think Homelander has any interest in 'being with' Butchers wife, or trying to lord that over Butcher. I think he enjoys 'outsmarting' Butcher by showing him that all his assumptions of Homelander were incorrect (he didn't actually kill his wife, etc). He knows everyone sees him as a 'blunt instrument', a dump weapon others point and release, and so what he really wants is for people to acknowledge his personal intelligence. He want's to outsmart people, even if it's more inconvenient, because they don't think he can. I think he wants Butcher to help 'raise' his son, so that Homelander can have a living legacy, a son that's not a broken mess like he is.

They have changed so much from the book but someone will have to take out or at very least be able to hold their own against Homelander. Maybe a father/son battle? Who knows? The ending was even for the people who have read the comics a twist, since in the comics Becca died and Butcher had to kill the newborn that has clawed its way out of the mother there. With that change the show can go into a very different direction now than the comics went and keep thus everyone on their toes.

I love this ending because it departs from the comics in a big way. In the comics she is dead, and the hate Butcher feels leads him to do some really dark stuff. This allows him to go in a different direction

The Boys is my favorite TV show currently running. It holds "The GOT Spot" right now? Questions: 1. Why is Homelander the strongest sup? 2. Why is Homelander the only sup that can have kids? 3. How is Butcher NOT going to be in prison for season 2?? Considering Homelander is going to pin Stillwell's murder and the murder of her baby on him. 4. Does Star Light have a locator chip in her? Because if she does she can't be a Spice Girl. Guesses: I think that this entire show is based on the premise of "What if Superman crash landed in the hands of Lex Luther when he came to earth?" and Mr. Edgar is Lex Luther and Homelander is Superman. This would probably mean that Homelander has a weakness that on Mr. Edgar knows about.

Good Reaction :^)... Stillwell's baby Teddy probably has super powers, that could explain what those doctors appointment were. He may have survived the blast or Homelander may have saved him... Becca either took the money and/or was threatened to leave her husband and have the baby. Vought would want Homelander 2.0 raised with a loving mother this time. It would make him more stable and act as leverage to keep him in line. Homelander's son maybe the only thing that could stop him in the future.
