So basically the reason why the SoCal’s are brighter is because the Duncan distortion sets versus the JB/59 that’s used in the San Dimas is a much higher output pick up with a large ceramic magnet as opposed to alnico in the JB’s that means more output and much more trouble it’s brighter and more powerful. on Duncan’s website they actually provide an EQ chart for all the pick ups and you could see that for the distortion set the treble and midrange is really up hope that helps 👍
Daaayum, how many Charvels do you own? Either way there's never enough! Tell Charvel that you're influencing me to make it my next guitar purchase very soon!
Paul Smith orange is nothing new to Charvel and this model has been around since the 80’s. Schecter had a super strat with a Floyd in the 80’s too but, Charvel did theirs first. Both ripped off fender though.
Are you sponsored by charvel cause I never see other brands. maybe a evh or a Jackson once in a while but they owned by the same company. Your such a great guitarist I'd love to see other brands get shredded out! Keep on keeping on brother 🎸🤘
Have the exact same guitar. Matter-of-fact have several of the same Charvels you do. Put a maple neck on it though and there went the brightness you were talking about... I like the Ash/Ebony combination and Alder/Maple combination
I wanted one in hot pink but I didn’t pull the trigger fast enough. I have the SoCal in trans purple burst. I like ebony on my Soloist but on my Charvels I like maple- can’t say why. Nice color and great guitar!
I really like this finish. For sure reminds me of candy tangerine, more so batch 4 of the USA San Dimas style 2. Here's hoping to So Cal style 2 in this finish
Hey Cam! Not really on topic but it would be awesome in a future video if you could compare tone differences, playability differences between the EVH superstrat and the Wolfgang. Would love to know why Eddie dropped the strat shape in favor of the Wolfgang. Cheers!
I’m deciding on this and the Fender Boxer Strat MIJ. Any thoughts between the two? Unfortunately I can’t play either of them in a store, so I’ve just been researching.
Cameron Cooper I WAS getting the green one which would have been in stock late January, but after I ordered it they released the new colour. Had to plead with andertons to let me change the order aha
Great guitar and great playing! Just one question: for versatility, harmonics of sound and sustain, would you recommend the so-cal or the san dimas model?
Does the ebony board sound different to you? To me it does. I have DK24 FR Okoume ebony and i just love it. Could be also Full Shred Duncan that makes me like it so much. After years of swapping JBs and Custom 5s i have finally found my pickup 🤘
I've never had to do that on any guitars. If a guitar arrives and it's different from another in terms of set up I just leave it and adapt to a new feeling guitar. I never adjust anything...
Need help......I'm tossed between the purple San Dimas (same as Cam's) and this orange So Cal.....Different pickups. I'm a huge fan of the '59 and JB so I'm leaning towards the San Dimas. FYI.....I play blues, classic rock and 80's rock
Seems to me Fender has found the formula. Back in the day I owned a lot of Ibanez guitars made in Japan in the FujiGen factory. And they were known for their awesome quality. I would put these new made in Mexico Charvels up against the old Ibanez guitars from Japan any day of the week and twice on Sunday!
Hey cam have you seen this charvel on Ebay!!!??? type in Charvel Pro-Mod DK24 HSH 2PT CM Modified ....Its the bright pink one!!! thought you might be interested...Show your dad! :D
If I could sum it up. They both do the job equally well, feel very similar. It all comes down to what you like the look of. However you get more tones out of a Charvel thanks to the six pack of sound coil split feature.
@@blkjakk The first guy that's on my "Music..." playlist is the man I bought it from, he is my uncle Mark Davis. He bought it when I was about 5 years old and he was about 14ish I can't remember. $400.00 buck when I was 17. He threw in an amp. I really don't know the exact age it is but it's a pride to have. I have a Gibson hummingbird and a Martin acoustic my father handed down. Tell me what you think of him maybe, he was born to play and I honestly am not as good. Take it easy;)...
Sounded like you were struggling a bit soloing further up the neck. Was it just because you weren't using much distortion? In your 1st solo in the video. Too heavy of strings? Or is the neck just too flat by the neck pick up. Usually you don't seem to miss many notes at all.
@@CameronCooper Usually you're really smooth and clean. It was only a couple places at beginning. Reason I'm even asking is I'm thinking about ordering 1 and thought maybe you'd say if there are any real cons with the guitar
@@BAND-MAID-USA I was fine, no cons for me personally on this guitar. The only thing I would prefer would be a dive only bridge and a matching or black headstock
