We have had exclusive access to the new Renault Zoe at a secret location in Paris where we were able to talk to all the people involved & to see the new Zoe so we can give you the first look at the new Zoe for 2020.
We spent time asking the people behind the project the questions which you all wanted to know and hear in depth.

Please bare in mind the audio being played on small speakers etc on computers will cause issues. Please use headphones to help improve the issue we had with audio and back ground noise.

Looks like the App side of things and the variable cruise (follow) has caught up to the BMW i3. This is all good stuff. I would consider upgrading my i3 to ZOE50 with these features to get the range. With CCS you could stop for 30 minutes and put half your range in and that would surely get you most anywhere in the UK. I like driving with breaks, forced by my current EV choice, as I now arrive much less fatigued and had the benefit of rest and hydration on my longer journeys. Holiday Inn have CCS fast chargers so you don’t have to use the Evil Highway option

As a Leaf owner limited to 3.3kw from fast charging posts I've often been jealous of Zoe's that can take 22kw as it makes 22kw posts a really useful resource and I have several free to use in my area. But I've always consoled myself with the 50kw CHAdeMO option I have. The new Zoe having CCS but still being able to take 22kw is something that would really tempt me over to Renault (as well as range obviously). But, and it's a big but,they need to price it aggressively as the market place is going to be becoming much more competitive in the next 18 months with loads of manufacturers bringing out new models. Nissan have stood still with the Leaf and the 60kwh is simply way too expensive for that vehicle, let's hope Renault have been paying attention

As explained in the video by Renault its classed as a city car so not really needed. But it has Lane Assist, 22kw AC, 50Kw DC, 360 deg sensors, Self park, LED lights, its definatly a huge improvement and ACC is not something to stop a sale for sure.

Here's my personal view on 50kw charging on new zoe; on a car that will 236 miles per charge "thats over 4 hours of non stop driving in the UK" then 50kw would mean stopping for a nice comfort break of 30 minutes would give another 80 miles so 316 thats the distance of London to Carlisle. its the age of argument of EV drivers HOW OFTEN do you drive that distance?

Too often Nick. Just done 285 miles from Barrhead to my hotel outside Derby in 6 hours 25 mins in my Zoe Q90. Two stops, the first at Southwaite and the second at Killington Lake. The last bit was 136 miles from 90% non-stop......truck surfing all the way. Your video gave it away but there is nothing to make me trade up to the new Zoe. If I want CCS (does it work?) then I'm more likely to go for a Kona etc.

Some good new features. I hope they don't whack the price up to an unaffordable level! If not, I'm definitely interested in upgrading when I get to the end of my current contract (in 2021), if only for the CCS charging capability and, presumably, 200+ mile range.

For me it comes down to price and availability, well south of 30k and it's a strong contender as a replacement for our R90 41Kw and would keep our R110. I guess in a year or so 50Kw CCS charging will seem slow, but a big jump from 22Kw AC.

Looks amazing, but having recently bought a owned battery ze40 for 18 odd thousand... Doubt this will have any kind of discounts of thag level. Smells to me that the ze50 owned battery will likely land on the 30k bracket which means I'd still have bought what i got.

I was interested until he said there was no Active Cruise Control, this is one feature I want for my next car. I had wondered where the radar was in the photos. Don't care as much about lane assist, this I could have done without. Kia eSoul is starting to look more interesting.

Its strange, there is all security assiat in all new Renault. Renault make a restyling of all of his cars for add all new security systeme and technology. I think this Zoe have it

The clio 5 have all system security, the new Peugeot e 208 is the leader of reliabilty and security with the 3D cockpit, active cruise controle, radar lights, 360° camera face-rear. The e 208 will keep the 1th place of European eletric cars maybe in 2020. Zoe is number 1 every years

Peugeot 208 or Vauxhall Corsa have ACC. It is the better option then. And both have faster charging than Zoe and Soul. 80% in 30 minutes for 208/Corsa. The 208/Corsa sustain a fast charging speed much longer than the Soul - 100 kW maximum for both, but Kia Soul charging speed quickly slows down.

Good vid Craig. Seems to have a good selection of modes and looks good on the inside. Will it tempt me from my ZE40? I think it will depend on the UK specs and prices bearing in mind the opposition that will releasing cars in the coming months. However it does look as if it has been updated and maybe will encourage new owners because of the updated interior. .

Great video. My major complaint with my Zoe ZE40 is the weak headlights. I've replaced the bulbs with brighter ones but still not as good as my 2007 Meganne CC had. Hopefully the LEDs will fix this. The interior looks a lot nicer too. I have a feeling they won't be available at the same price as the ZE40 though. CCS a handy feature too though more than 50 kw would have been nice. I think the extra range also a nice to have although I hardly ever charge away from home.

60/40 split rear seats are already on the the later models of the Zoe, out 2019 R110 does and our 2017 R90 doesn't.

Many thanks for the video, interesting, it now depends at what price and what specs for the models., i still love my five year old second hand 22k Zoe, but if i won the lottery then it would be the 52kw for me like a shot. I am in South west of FRance and the charging points are getting better, more of them but not many quick charges around me. BUt i must admit the Gers region is taking up electric charging stations very well, and car parks and Supermarkets have joined in the revolution with free charging for their customers . To me it looks like the car was built by someone that is very use to building ICE cars as EV's should have a lot fewer moving parts thus to see things crammed in the front trunk area seems like someone just can't kick the old ways of designing ICE cars. The Info screen seems as if it was an after thought and not designed with it as a feature with the car by just looking at the placement of the vents behind it. So, I look forwards to seeing a time when they finally drop the old ways of doing things as an EV is designed and built a lot differently than the ICE cars they are replacing.

agree with this very much. There's no need for a bonnet with everything messy looking in there. An EV is batteries and 1 eletric motor, some EV's under the bonnet look messier than ICE's which require clutches, exhausts, transmissions, radiators,etc.

They can't, even rebranded in Nissan : it's very demanding in perfect 230/240v AC , with a perfect ground, no harmonic and so on. (Don't know why its ebedded special charger is so demanding) I think an adaptation for 110 is too expensive only for one country, even a big one

It's much faster. CCS can support up to 150kW if I'm not mistaken (though the amount also depends on the car), while type 2 is limited to 22kW.

As I have 43 Kw ac charging this new ccs poor after 7 years , ccs on all competition up to 100dc ccs , so looks like I’ll not be changing to new Zoe then , went from 43kw ac back to 22kw ac, now over to 50dc, so bigger battery will be pointless . With added reduction in ac charging speed bye to zoe from those early buyers , competition looks much better

50kw for a 52kw pack is perfect with 22kw ac also no other manufacturer offers this in anyway. As proven with kona it still can not deliver its full ccs capacity when required at alot of chargers. 240 miles with one stop of 45 mins is 350+ miles enough to cover most the UK. That to me is a winner. I live with a 22kw now and everything is fine. We all moaned about range 3 years ago and now we have people questioning charge times on a car capable of 240 miles in one go and that's WLTP so I prob get 270 miles

It's probably dependent on the country but here in Portugal this will cost within 5k of the upcoming VW ID3 (that difference will be close to nothing when you finance your car), it's a lot smaller, the interior quality is inferior, it's a lot slower and it has a smaller range. Unless Renault's idea is to only fill the 6-month gap in the market until the VW arrives, I can't see the point, frankly...

A bit deceiving. Would have been easy for Renault to put 8 kWh more and a 100kWh DC charge to maintain its advance on peugeot and be closer to the Leaf long range. So it's good, but in the average, no more

Thanks for the spec summary. Let's hope new 4G (why not 5G?) Easy-Link is also reliable - interesting that old R-link was built around a 2G signal! Dark ages or what. Auto shift looks like a mix of old and new: no sign of the simple circular knob adopted by many other EVs. Use of Tesla-style tablet display looks good, but as most drivers are right-handed, the central positioning is a compromise. Wonder when UK Renault dealerships will get this info and pricing/delivery schedules. Will Brexit folly put us at the back of the delivery queue? Take a camera op with you next time so you can concentrate on the questions/translation...good job however. Thanks again.

It's not really a safety feature surely paying attention to the road is more important. The new Zoe has emergency braking and lane keeping. And as explained in video Renault class it as a city car to the masses. Only nutters like myself drive far. And I am sorry ACC is not a deal breaker for me it has had alot of changes for the good.

Yes, doesn't look as neat as our existing Zoe. And the bigger display looks a bit like a glued on after thought.

Jon Knight That’s not what bothers me. I never had a problem with screens that protrude like that. The drivers display doesn’t do it for me. And little things like the steering wheel look worse than the previous car. I’m not a fan of the latest Renault interior designs. It doesn’t feel like the giant leap forward that I would expect after being on the market for so long. I should feel excited by what they’ve done but I just don’t. But that’s my opinion. I’m sure quite a few won’t agree with me.
