I just ordered my Ultra VP 7.0 today. Your enthusiastic reviews were helpful in making the decision. Like many reviewers mention, it's a hefty piece of change to part with, to get one. But the numerous glowing reviews like yours have convinced me, that it is the Rolls Royce of virtual pins and the only one available stateside. I'd love to sit down with Roland and talk to him about how this came about because his passion and love of the pinball game is evident in his own videos. I know it's been a month since this video was released, but bro, you have it all now. Need to add this to the collection. a 32 recroommasters emulation edition and a nice collection of retro consoles hooked into multiple stations. Converted 2 car garage into a gameroom. Excellent review, as usual. I have the Ultra VP 7.0, and I’m loving it. But I am thinking about the extra slap I might get out of my flipper buttons with those SW3 solenoids. Do you still like those as much as you did in the video review you did on them, and if so, have you put a set of them in your UVP 7.0?

Thanks man! And those are some great suggestions for the shortcut buttons. To use one as the shutdown, I'm quite sure it would have to be a soft shut down button. Then the full shutdown would still have to be the switch underneath the front of the cab. But it would beat reaching further under the cab to get to the soft shut down button.

Great review, Scantron5K! I'm new to all this but, outside of the initial set up, are these machines pretty much plug and play afterwards? Or, do they require some handholding and possible individual game configuration like an EHA Megacade?

No hand-holding other than just learning what the buttons do on your machine. Definitely a plug-and-play machine. Occasionally pinup popper can lose an image on a back box or something, but all you have to do is just reset it and you're good. Not a machine problem, but a pinup popper software problem across the board.

Hey, thanks! Glad I could help you make an informed decision. The little caster wheels that I keep under the rear legs can be bought at Northern Tool. They are technically furniture casters but I throw the front two on the front legs whenever I need to move the machine around easily. I've never updated tables on my own, mainly because I'm fine with the way it is. But many people that own these have done it and it seems to be pretty easy.

How are the speakers on these tables? I’m pretty close to pulling the trigger but wanted to make sure it didn’t sound thin. Also, can you speak to how easy you think it would be to make modifications to the table. Say you wanted to make monitor changes or DMD screen changes, led lights etc. down the line?

Hey man, thanks for the comment. In my personal opinion I feel as if the sound is great. The fully cased in subwoofer truly adds to the low-end and you can adjust three different amplifiers inside the machine to your acquired taste. As far as upgrading monitor and things like that, it has been done before by a few people and they have had very successful outcomes. When it comes to adding LED lights and other DOF goodies, there are extra ports on the DOF system that would allow you to add things that are not already included. Provided you have the skillset to do so.

They are additional options that cost a bit more, but I absolutely think that they add to the game play. Not cheesy at all. It really light the machine up and emphasizes things when you're racking up points.

So I was told that An X BOX wireless controller was the only one it was compatible with. Do I need to download the app and put it on the machines computer or is it downloaded already?

I haven't used an Xbox controller, but I used an off-brand PS3 style controller with a wireless dongle and it just plugged in and played.

I think it would be a good idea to map the coin door buttons to change the color of the balls. Some tables are harder to see than others, so say green button, green ball, red button, red ball, white button, chrome ball, black button, 3D on/off. I've got one of these on the way, don't have it yet, but what do you think?

He doesn't know how to program them, and said maybe his software guy could help, but the buttons are there for the pinball community and that it would take scripts, etc. So idk I'll have to look into it more when it arrives. Ordered on March 31st and I can't wait!

I got a DIY unit and set up a bunch of shift codes, so I hold down the extra ball buy in button, and then every other button sends a different code. Like shift-start does "R" to start/stop pup recording. shift-right magsave opens the pup extra menu, etc...

Did you ever show the implementation of the virtual tilt bob that enables nudging and other such maneuvers?

I know I've shown it in one of my videos, but the tilt bob and the nudging capabilities are totally separate. Turning off the tilt bob switch still allows you to use the accelerometer built into the machine which allows virtual nudging, etc.

@@Eliminator5555 it doesn't issue warnings for excessive tilt if you have the Tilt Bob turned off. Essentially you can nudge away at the machine and it will never tilt. However, I really don't use that much nudge, if any when I play. I wish I could remember exactly which video it is, but I have three full-length reviews on this machine and it should be in one of them. I have reviews on the 5.0, the 6.0 and now the 7.0.

@Scantron5k the only problem bro is there are like 100 future pinball updates so I can't tell you which version of the game has it. It might even be the vpx version. Nice cabinet, but I must say, I built my own just from a flatpack and our builds look and play very similar. It's pretty awesome using those industrial screens. I couldnt help myself and went with LG C2 OLEDS . EVEN FOUND A 15.9 FULL DMD OLED SCREEN. IF I'm being totally honest with you bro, I enjoy building and upgrading these machines way more then I do playing on them. Lol it sounds dumb, so guys like working on cars , I like working on tech and building pc's etc. I have a rtx3090 founders edition as my virtual pinball gpu because it was the only card we could buy like a year ago. I know you like having the top of the line tech, I don't know what gpu your using in any of your computers but right now at bestbuy because nvidia f'd up their card naming releases for the 40 series card and right now I just grabbed two rtx4070ti's and I can tell you straight up they beat my 3090 in game performance almost for every game. $849 and you get a gpu that beats rtx3090ti's in most benchmarks. Figured I'd tell you since you would understand why we upgrade to the newest tech out. I assumed you already grab a 4090. But for the price I'm putting the rtx 4070ti's in all my arcade machines.

OK, since I'm new to this, apparently it doesn't come with all these games pre-loaded on a SSD. So on top of the 9k, you have to also purchase a SSD with the games.? Can I ask how much a SSD is with the 1300 or (1500) games on it..? (Almost afraid to ask, lol)

Meaning, whatever you pay for the unit as a whole, includes the SSD drive baked into the cost of everything. Hence, using the Scantron5K discount code to save the additional $50 on your SSD drive is actually just applied to the unit when you order it as a whole.

Basically I was just looking for a path of least resistance method of getting a very large launch box collection preferably for free. The biggest launch box collection I've seen to download for free was a 2.6tb image made by Wolfanoz and Virtualman has an 8tb batocera collection but I prefer the look of launch box or hyper spin. Hopefully someone uploads a collection with og Xbox and 360 games.

Some solid upgrades, but their vpin systems need a monitor upgrade for their playfield screen…4K gaming monitor with 120hz or 144hz should be the norm. This will eliminate that cloudy haze effect from the contrast, it will deepen the blacks, and will make the colors pop. I’ve played their machines in-person and that contrast issue is noticeable and somewhat distracting. Just my opinion. But I’d happy to pay more for a monitor upgrade if they offered it.

I agree that XGC has the better quality machine, but the wait time is a bit much and I’ve heard of some customer service issues as well. Pros & cons to both options in my opinion. It’s just a matter of preference for each buyer.

@@AVillaBeats the wait time is real, but I think it’s worth it. Funny you mention service, to me they have super good service. I’m from Sweden and had absolutely no problems with there service. I love there service, support and all. And a big plus is there quality, and how they keep upgrading there machines almost every week. If you order a machine now, it’s a really, really good machine, but when you get it in maybe 12-16 months it’s way way better , all because they keep upgrading them all the time. So impressive.

Looks like they are getting better, but I still prefer the Xtreme Gaming Cabinets Premium Vpin and how they do things, like where the blower fan is, the LED matrix and Side LED's, and more than anything the system programming, that not only includes Pup Packs, which nobody else I've seen includes, but it also includes two separate systems, one that can't be messed up and one that you can add tables and upgrades to yourself without needing to worry that you'll mess everything up. Is RRW still requiring you to buy a Hard Drive from an over sea's partner to install that has all the table rom's? When I add up all the option's to get this machine as close to an XGC machine as I can it's over $10,000 and still not as complete. So even with shipping from Australia a more complete better programmed machine is still less expensive. Still, it's good to see we are making progress here in the states. LabArcades is another strong up and comer, but I don't think they offer the programing either from the same reasons nobody else does here in the states.

I can't speak for XGC because I don't own one of their tables. This review is to specifically shed light on what rec room world is doing. However, I'm not quite sure what you mean about XGC being the only ones to have pup packs, Etc. The SSD that comes with this machine is not some extra charge. It's all baked into the price and it has pup packs. There are over 1,500 tables as well. Did you watch the full review? Or any of the last two full reviews that I did? Lastly, I can only speak for the people I know that have ordered from XGC. One of them ordered about a year-and-a-half ago and is still waiting with very minimal communication. If you are prepared to spend that kind of money and wait for that long to receive your unit, that's completely up to you. Again, they make great machines from what I understand, but I can't speak for them. Lastly, if you watched my review and its entirety, you would see in the very beginning that it comes with an extra SSD, so that you can't screw anything up. Not to mention, you can get one of these machines within a couple of months after ordering. They both have their pros, but I just figured I would address some of the things that you are concerned about.

@@Scantron5k I did watch the video, but your camera for most of the game play only showed the DMD and playfield, so I didn't see pup packs for any of the tables you showed, maybe I missed something but I didn't see them. If they are including them or pup DMD's that's great. XGC includes a special wheel that has all the tables with pup packs, and then the original back glasses for those tables are also included in the build so you can pick which you prefer to play. I do own an XGC machine, and I had a older RRW machine, and a VirtuaPin that I got rid of. The wait for and XGC machine is real, it's probably between 14-16 months right now. As for the hard drive with the roms that comes with the RRW machine, their website says the following: "*DISCLAIMER Due to legal constraints here in the United States we cannot include any pinball table ROMS with our Virtual Pinball Machines. However, a 100% fully compatible plug & play SSD hard drive is available from an international third party for $150. It only takes a minute to install. We will provide those details after purchase." Are you saying that's not true and they do include it delivered with the machine? The other question I have is you say you can't screw anything up? Is the drive locked down so you can't make changes? On an XGC pin the main system is locked down that way. If you change something, when you reboot all changes are wiped out and put back, so you don't need to worry about things like windows update if you have the machine online for iScore or something like that, because as soon as you reboot, the protected system is restored. They include a second system that is basically a clone of the main system that isn't protected so you can add new tables and update things if you want to do that, and even if you screw everything up you still have the protected system to fall back on. I will say that LABarcades has a real chance to really give XGC a run for the leader position, but I don't know how they are dealing with the configuration piece a of the Vpin puzzle.

As far as the legal jargon goes with these companies, all I can tell you is that the machine comes with the SSD included in the price of the cabinet. It may look like a separate charge, but it's all encompassed in the price. And it shows up with the SSD installed on the machine. I honestly can't speak as to whether or not the SSD is locked down, but there is a clone and they also include a cloning station as well if you'd like to make additional backups of your drive. I haven't seen that before but hey, it's definitely cool. As far as not screwing anything up, you're not going to do anything while playing this machine, kids mashing buttons, etc that is going to screw anything up. It's probably the safest multi-game machine I have in my arcade other than my actual OG cabinets.

@@Scantron5k the cloning machine is most likely their solution to be able to get back to a default build. Not a horrible idea, as long as you make a new image after every time you add tables and verify everything still working correctly. It’s updating and adding tables where things go wonky, not typically game play. It’s actually illegal to include roms in the USA, which is why they most likely have that disclaimer on the website. Kinda risky to be shipping the machines with the drive from the US. If any of the big players like Stern catch wind that it’s happening they’ll likely be a cease-and-desist order issued. Still, many builders of arcades and Vpins do it. That being said it does appear they are making progress on the quality of their build. I still think the tiny coin door makes the machine look more like a toy, and I don’t care for what their metal work/lock down bar looks like, but it’s still an upgrade from their older machines.

@@andrew21742 yeah, I would say if you have an older machine then you certainly haven't been able to get a feel for what the newest models feel like. Lots of upgrades, and you do have options for the rails and lockdown bar as far as colors, etc. I certainly would not consider it a toy, it is very much a brick house and does not seem to skimp out on any of the necessary hardware. The cable management and components are very clean and well done. I think the machine weighs roughly 400 pounds. It's definitely a quality build.

The blower looks out of place and takes away from the look of an actual pinball machine. Should have been a better design to that. XGC does it better on their cabs. Also the lighted flipper buttons seem pointless since you are not going to see them anyway while playing. Glad they are adding some much needed options though.

I totally respect the XGC love, their cabinets look great. Not all folks wanna wait 15 months for a cab. But I'm not comparing this to their cabinet. This is just a review of what they now offer. The LED flipper buttons are just eye candy for the game room. That's like saying Pup Pack videos are pointless because you can't watch them while you're playing.

God damn that's a terrible implementation of Stereoscopic 3D. All the more reason I'm glad I have an actual 3DTV. . You know the good ones that use Active Shutter Glasses Full HD 60hz to each eye. It's rare technology, and no one seems to make those types of Displays, but man how this set up could benefit so much from Full Color 3D displays. VPin is cool, I always wanted to see one In 3D that's why I'm here. I was massively let down when you pulled out the old anaglyph glasses Lol!!! Back in 2010, I used to convert my PC Games into anaglyph 3D, I used to call it Poor Man's 3D Lol! A Year later I finally got the 3D Plasma. Hopefully one day someone can manufactur some Glasses-Free 3D Displays for uses on VPin or Arcade Cabinets. 2D Sprite based games like those of Old School Arcade Games look Amazing in 3D.

The machine comes with a separate SSD that is imaged by separate entity. I think the creator is overseas? Not sure exactly how it's done, but it's done in a way that allows the company to legally sell the machine by itself (without games), which is technically what you're paying for. I dunno man. Hey bud, great Video. Just picked up the 7.0 also. Loving it for the most part. However I have had some issues. The T2 table will not boot, only the Back box screen, after I back out that screen will not go away. Doesn’t matter what game I play. The second issue is with the shaker motor. I’ve had to disconnect it entirely. It runs from the time I flip the machine on, and will not stop. Any help is greatly appreciated.
