I met Rob Lowe in 1990. My first thought was, "Wow...what's wrong with the cameras?!?" This, because he was even better-looking in person than he was on film. My second thought was to silently beg my mother not to embarrass me...which she totally did. He was very nice. He gave me an autograph, which I kept until I lost it in a fire years later.
As a total 80's girl, I still adore all of those John Hughes teen cult classic films. About 5 years ago, I was working at a luxury hotel in Los Angeles, and one night Molly Ringwald performed her jazz music in the intimate lobby lounge bar. Needless to say, it was way surreal for me to stand there and watch this 80's icon who I'd grown up on, singing jazz, and, well, looking uncomfortable. But I will say, to her credit or good genes, she hadn't changed/aged a bit, other than her hairstyle, which was like a Cleopatra style (but still red). Also, my now former brother-in-law was a dead ringer for Anthony Michael Hall, and he used to get into all the hot L.A. nightclubs in the late 80's posing as him. Everyone bought it hook, line and sinker, and he even posed for pics with AMH fans lol..
Man I miss the 80's, I almost want to create to a video the psychological profile of these one hit wonder movie stars, they had crazy lives. Interesting stuff.
Someone should create a fictional, 1980s set, movie/story with all the brat packers in it. Just an idea: boy wants girl who is fan of their movies, so, to impress her, he makes a quest to get autographed polaroids of all of them in one crazy night in Los Angeles. Could be shaded as a comedy, drama, adventure, romantic, spiritual, etc. Ahhh...the music itself would make it worth seeing. Ram pack that movie with every piece of 80s nostalgia. Someone...do something like this, please.
Brat Pack extends beyond (and some came before) these actors featured, such as Matt Dillon, Diane Lane, Kristy McNichol, Charlie Sheen, Matthew Broderick, Jennifer Grey, Christian Slater, Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts. To me, it's every popular teenage or early twenties actor from my generation.
when I was young the Young Guns & The Mighty Ducks films were considered popular & classic! wow, estevez looked a lot like his father in that last clip where he had brown hair
sadly we age we do not have to stop the fun in our life weather you young mid mid age or old Only One Life to Live have a crazy life but a safe one love and be loved
My favorite has to be Demi Moore. Just a gorgeous woman. And still is. Estavez is like Charlie's more responsible brother. I've always like their dad, Martin. Good actor. Francis Ford Coppola directed him in "Apocolypse Now".
Marley B I believe, even though the term wasn't coined until the mid-1980s, that the brat pack actually started with Kristy McNichol, Diane Lane, Matt Dillon.
Imagine one movie in the 1980's with this cast and with john hughes Emilio Estevez Molly Ringwald Tom Cruise Elizabeth Shue Judd Nelson Ally Sheedy Anthony Michael Hall Demi Moore Andrew McCarthy Heather Graham Rob Lowe Olivia Barash
I considered not just "breakfast club" and "st.elmo's fire" a brat pack movies but 16 candles, pretty in pink, weird science, about last night and Ferris buellers day off.
vava coulter plus she was in Charlies Angels...she's actually done a lot. kind of sad she being labeled a someone who's known for marrying movie star men...
All this has achieved is to make me want to watch The Breakfast Club again and marvel at how cool John Bender was and how they ruined Ally Sheedys gothy sexyness by the end of the film. And then obviously belt out Simple Minds to a startled cat.
Although these are the core members, there are many others included in the Brat Pack before and after the name was coined. Actors like Timothy Hutton, Elizabeth McGovern, Sean Penn, Chris Penn, Matt Dillion, Kevin Dillon, Diane Lane, Nicolas Cage, Tom Cruise, John Cusack, Mathew Broderick, Matthew Modine, Charlie Sheen, Ralph Macchio, C. Thomas Howell, Patrick Swayze, Eric Stolz, Mary Stuart Masterson, and more were also apart of this group.
So strange what happens to certain actors careers while they were doing so well, I never understand it when other actors go through similar things to them and they make it big. Baffles me. They were all good actors why didn’t they blow up?🤷♂️
This was the most poorly researched list I've ever seen. You left out SEVERAL big movies that shook most of their "brat pack" labels. Namely, Andrew, Anthony and two others. You made some of the biggest actors sound like total failures when it was this list that failed terribly. Too bad. I was considering subscribing.
Never understood Molly Ringwald's appeal. It's not her fault. I just don't get it. She played the same person in every role. Her acting depth/breadth didn't compare with her contemporaries.
Loved Judd Nelson! He really put his total self in the Breakfast Club. Yes, we did wear crap like that. Why not? There weren't any snubbing or special labels on clothing. We were just ourselves!
Were John Cryer and Charlie’s Sheen also members of the Brat pack? If I am right Anthony Michael Hall was first choice to play Ferris in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. he would have been a great choice to play the part but if I am right he turned it down. I wonder how is career would have turned out if he took the part. Also John Cryer auditioned for the lead in this film but did not get the part.
There’s this thing, and it’s called aging. It causes people to look different as they get older. I thought all people knew what that was but I guess not.
Well this movie DID come out 32 years ago, so it would stand to reason that NOBODY still looks that young, especially when the Brat Pack are all in their early to mid 50's now haha. Anthony Micheal Hall, the youngest of the Pack, is three years older than me for crying out loud and I'm 45 haha. I sure as hell don't look like I did when I was 14 in 1985.
Emilio used to be my FAVORITE, until I did the MIGHTY DUCKS with him. I asked him for a picture, & as he was signing autographs. .......he said No:( So, I would have to say JUDD NELSON Is my FAVORITE:)
Thank you for this awesome educational video on how the passage of time affects humans. Being an alien from Zolfart I was unaware humans got older as time passes but now, I know!
I love all the men in Breakfast Club they were awesome gorgeous beautiful awesome all the beautiful words of the dictionary yes baby you guys still look great and older men
