Hi there! 👋🏻 We live on a 1-acre farm right in the middle of the busy city of Phoenix, Arizona! Our names are Kevin & DaNelle, and we moved here in 2009, when our kids Ethan & Lydia were just 6 & 4 years old 🥰 Over the years we've raised goats for milk, chickens for eggs, built a fish/swim pond, planted fruit & nut trees, and grew a large garden full of veggies. We've also raised a bunch of other animals like pigs, sheep, turkeys, geese, peacocks, and more!
Now that our kids are away at college, we have settled into doing what we love most -- which is raising & breeding goats ethically to improve genetics. But don't worry, we'll forever love our goofy pet goats like Luna the herd queen & Willow the stump lover. We also still love raising chickens for eggs, gardening, tending to the fruit & nut trees, and growing fish in the pond. We use the fresh goat's milk to make cheese, butter, yogurt -- and we use that + everything else we harvest on our little farm to make delicious meals. Having a getaway from the busy world right in our backyard brings so much joy to us each day, and we hope it brings some to you, too. 🥰

In one of your next videos I would love to see how you keep chickens cool in the summer! I’m worried about my hens in the Arizona heat, I found a chicken dead in the nesting box yesterday and I think she got broody and died of heat stroke in the boxes:( we leave out lots of water and keep it cold in the day and have lots of shade but I worry it’s not enough for the Arizona heat

Put a Sky Light in the Bathroom, it’ll make a HUGE difference. Also a pocket door, for the bathroom, would be a huge space saver. Clever Kevin could easily wrangle that!

I read online that if you feed cats the eggs of chickens that have been raised with cats it will reduce allergens in the cats, you guys could do an experiment

@@Weedemandreap There's also a dry food you can to reduce some of the allergies. If I remember right it was by Purina. Came a few years ago now. Regular baths also help but start now because otherwise you end up with cats 5 years late for twice a decade baths. There's also certain cat breeds that don't cause a allergies if you're just allergic to the dandruff & not their saliva I believe. Not just hairless. It's some of the rex breeds I believe.

I love her name. What a cutie pie. I have 2 bonded litter mates a tabby a calico. Except she's got a bit of a mask over her face so her name is Harlequin. Got to watch out for those sassy little calicos. Harley has learned to manipulate me for canned food by making her eyes bigger, plaintively meow like a baby kitten & even occasionally tries to climb my pants like a tiny kitten. It's adorable when your 8oz kitten climbs up you. It's hilarious when your 8lb cat tries & manages to depants you. Worse she the new orange flavored senior rescue working me for canned food too. Her brother just mooches off her work. But he actually doesn't eat as much canned as she does so she gets some of his.

Our breeding season starts in November and I can’t wait!! We are using a new buck from meadowmist Nigerians. His sire is agape’s prize nutty buddy. So he’ll be a grandson of agape’s prize axl rose CQ & agape’s prize lil debutante. The new buckling’s dam is meadowmist PE Cookie Monster, she has a gorgeous high & well attached udder and is just such a correct doe. I am very excited to add his genetics into my herd.

I think the elephant hooks would look nice together if they are nose-to-nose in a nook 👉👈 or (back-to-back) either side of a cabinet. Directly next to eachother facing one way (forward) I agree they are a bit clunky. In the kitchen one can hold the towel, the other oven mitts. Or in the bathroom place them on both sides of the washbasin, for family/guests or hands/face towels🤲🙂

I don't know if you got the same brand (bachus) apron I got. Normally you un clip the strap that goes over the back and have a chest strap on the front... Then clip the back one (behind the front legs)and cinch it up. So far the one on my buckling is working great.

I have friends and family with cat allergies, so I have a few ideas/tips that might help Lydia. We use a cotton sock (usually on of the small ankle length ones) as a glove. You get a lot more tactile sensation than you would if you were wearing an actual glove, but it's still an effective barrier. One family member's allergies are serious enough that she is prescribed fairly hardcore meds, and while I can't promise it'll work for everyone, it does work for her. A bathrobe, or, given Az. heat, maybe an oversized button down shirt -- is also a pretty good light-weight cover you can put over your regular clothes to protect them from picking up pet hair while holding them. I also have cat allergies, though mine are pretty mild generally. When I have a flare up I find it's also helpful to wash hands and face after playing with cats, as I tend to put my face close to theirs and hair can transfer over even if the cat doesn't rub/lick. Juno is growing so well, what a pretty little baby! Such curious eyes. And Lydia, Lydia is a trooper!

I think that barn doors for the bathroom area for that whole bathroom area that you’ve got open right now matching those cabinets would be amazing looking ,that way you wouldn’t have that extra space that the regular doors is gonna take up and just put some shutters on the inside that if somebody needed to come in

The elephant hooks: You could hang them ?12" apart; put a dowel across the upper hooks and use it to hold a roll of paper towels. Use the "lower jaw" hook for oven mitts or pot holders. OR put a dowel across all three curves for hanging dish towels in the kitchen or wash clothes & hand towels in the bath room...

O! Thank you. I'm glad. In the 80s, the first Home i bought had a pink tile bathroom. I *_hate_* pink -- it's a whole political thing based on studies done in the 60s abt the effect of colors on our brains _[Not the point]_ So i decided that if i was going to be given lemons, my lemonade was going to be to go OOT and decorate it with flamingos. Shower curtain, bath mat, robe hooks. [Then, as time passed, friends would see a flaming something when they were out and bring it to us. Over time, we inadvertently became flamingo kitsch central!] But pink towels -- even with flamingos on them -- was a bridge too far. So painted the walls a very very pale seafoam green. & got sea foam, moss & hunter green towels, which blended with the palms on the shower curtain. I couldn't find a flamingo stencil so i made one and stenciled pink flamingos just above the tile and a few random ones just.. _around._ Then i randomly painted some extras on a few of them: sunglasses on one, a bow-tie on another, one got a surfboard, another a margarita in its raised foot, another a Hawaiian shirt with palm leaves... _Stupid end to this story:_ We moved because i wanted a better school district for my kid. The new Home had a perfectly sane, _normal_ green & white tile bathroom. [YAY!!] But the name of the street: _Flamingo Road._ ANYWAY: Might be elephant stencil decor in there somewhere... Or not! The place is looking great!!!

Would it be possible to build out the wall at an angle for the bathroom to include all of the space? Like a 45ish degree angle towards the closet space? Its hard to tell depth from a video but maybe it could be an option with the door opening to the main area. Maybe that would also give more space in the bathroom and make it feel less small?

Also, can you do an intro to the AI before you start that goes over ordering, shipping, storing options if you’re small time and can’t buy a big storage tank or shipper. The essentials needed, and classes you may have taken or books/ articles you’ve read. I’m very interested in trying AI but the start up costs are very expensive!

I love the elephant hooks! I don't see why it would be weird to have two next to each-other... usually they are covered by something; question is, do you want to hang kitchen utensils/pots, coats (by the door, don't hide them in the closet!), or towels?
