From my experience, people who compulsory collect muscle cars all have cars like this. The person who bought my dad’s triple black ‘68 charger 318 dropped in a hemi crate motor, and then parked it with the rest of his 50+ cars. It will never be driven maybe ever again, but it looks pretty and it has a hemi. These people are just another breed.

@Curtis Lovrak .... you kinda highlight something that has been on many of my friends' minds, but even my own. For instance I often get bothered by strange folks telling me to V8 my Gremlin. Why? It runs great, it's plenty spunky. What more do I need? I've also taken a lot of flack for putting the V6 BACK IN my little '88 Ram. What's the big deal? I already have fast cars. I don't need a fast, gas guzzling truck! And this sort of highlights.... that NOT EVERYTHING HAS TO BE FAST! 99% of us just take our cars to shows or parades. Very few of us actually drag race them. And besides.... when gas prices skyrocket - what's the first thing to get parked??? The car with the big, honkin' engine. My little red truck has a funny story. It was bought by a friend, the V6 pulled out and a 440 stuffed in. Then along came another really cool car that would've been amazing with a 440, so the engine came out of the truck and into that project. So the truck sat for 5 years, with no engine. I bought it and stuffed the V6 back in. In the same amount of time, the same buddy who bought the little red truck originally found one we call "Beige Lightning" because it has a 318. He was going to 440 *THAT* truck only to have the same epiphany I've had. "Why does it need to be fast?" So, he's going to put a 4-barrel on the 318, maybe upgrade the ignition and add twice pipes and then JUST DRIVE IT. Who cares if it's a lowly 318? It's plenty spunky, will return double-digit fuel mileage numbers and it's friggin' cool just as it is. And the funny thing is that nowadays, Millennials who want classic cars are now buying the pedestrian 6-cylinder or small V8 cars. They don't care about speed. They just want the style. And t'ain't nuthing wrong with 'dat!

Possibly but it’s not really a collector car anymore with all the modifications. It’s now a drivers car which is why the last guy dumped and possibly the guy who built it. This to me is a catalog car that someone fixed the body and bought a bunch of cool parts from the catalogs because he read about them in hotrod or from a TV show but really didn’t know how to make it all work together so they dumped it at auction. The next buyer couldn’t figure it out so he dumped it at auction. Had some other regular non RU-vidr bought it the car probably would not have been fixed either and sold again. At least it’s getting fixed and someday driven.

We're out here - I'm the same way. I sold a Ford Explorer for $300 because it wouldn't start and needed to be towed away. Basically almost scrap value. But I didn't want the guy buying it to think he was being screwed. Probably just needed a starter. I recently sold an Acura TL for $1,000 because I knew it needed new brake pads and rotors all around, and would probably need other minor repairs to keep it running well. I had just changed the oil, tranny fluid, hood lifts and spark plugs myself, and repaired the radiator reserve tank and cap myself. I even threw in all the transmission fluid I had for the car AND a long neck flexible funnel that would make adding fluid to the car easier. Same deal there, I wanted the guy that bought it to know as much about the state of the car as I did, and not feel like he was ripped off. I could have lied, said the car was tip top and sold it for $2,500. But a guy has to sleep at night.

I once went to look at a 66 mustang fastback. I had asked the seller about possibly driving it home (about 100 miles) and he replied that the car was absolutely drivable. I decided a trailer was a better idea so I rented a trailer and went to look at the car. It did run and it had all new front suspension but the seller was VERY reluctant to let me drive the car (he claimed he was worried about the tag and registration but he was also a local sheriffs deputy so I didn't think there would be a problem). I finally assured him there would be NO SALE at any price without driving the car. He agreed that I could drive the car if we remained inside his subdivision. The car wallowed around the road in desperate search of something to hit, I was terrified, and the further we went the worse it got. When we got back to his house I crawled under the car where I discovered the shock towers were rusted away. At that point he produced a catalog showing that you could buy every piece that was rusted, he KNEW what he was selling! What a rotten skunk! I had just wasted an evening towing a trailer that I wasted money to rent for 200 miles.

Think go-kart levels at full throttle, and barely running) ... Rebuilding a 40 year old motor with absolutely no idea where to get parts from... hard pass. Click bait , He was not scammed , He bought A resto mod that was not completed and assembled partially improperly . You got a real super bird for 1/10th its resale value . a 528 hemi is a 15k to 20k engine just by its self . < pre inflation . Listening to your tales of woe about the tuning is nothing short of ridiculous. Its a fast ecu . there is a ton of support for it . Struts and suspension would be a pain to get the right struts. But, with the right parts it will probably be yards better than the Chrysler front suspension that came under them. Those cheap ass Aero wheels should have given you a clue that there was a mix of cheap and pricey parts. you could have flown out there and inspected the car before purchase . Were you scammed ? NO . does it need work ? Of course. Resto mods can be full of bugs at first , It could be a case of passing on headaches as you said it went through a few purchasers who most likely couldn't figure out the ecu and cooling . So quit mewing like you have been burned . Now that you have made it public scored a bunch of money from RU-vid with your click bait titles . That the car itself generated . publicly fix it proper and you could make your money back easily. Get your snoopy friend's and start back searching its origins and see if you can find the original block. or a number coded match block and turn it back into a restoration. either way you won . sometimes your tails of woe are just so fake and contrived it is silly .

When you get screwed over and ghosted by a seller like that, your only recourse is to take it to the courts. I used to do title work in Florida, and I once had a guy who bought a car off e-bay. It was a 68 Chevelle. I don't remember how much he paid for it. After he got the car the seller disappeared. Never got the title or a registration to prove the seller was the legal owner of the car and without either of those documents you can't take legal possession of a car. I helped him out as much as I could. It took him several months but he was eventually able to take legal ownership of the car.

If it was still a numbers matching motor, then MAYBE i could go with the odo being unplugged for that reason. I think it was just hurries back together for the auction and all these little things were just flat out not finished. The seller didnt blow the original motor after he sold it then drop a big azz new hemi in then to try to scam Hoovie. I think the guy bought it from someone and realized it was a polished turd and decided to off load it while the market was doing good. Been there sort of. Bought my 1974 Maverick Grabber from Arizona and I live in Ohio. Talked to the car lot and they didn't lie. The car had 90k original on it, had been painted once covering the stripe kit, was fully loaded including AC, PS, Disc brake, auto idle kickdown, trim package, seatbelt interlock the works. Little old lady who's husband owned it. That was true. He bought it for himself when he retired, and because he had a bad back ordered it with a super soft vinyl bench seat, rare option considering grabbers came with buckets, only a few hundred made in 74'. He died and she only drove it a few times and decided to sell it, local dealer helped her do that. Well, the story was true however none of the fluids in the car had ever been changed save for the oil, even then it was old and thin. The coolant had eaten up the aluminum to the point it was so soft I put my finger through the timing cover replacing hoses. it was the consistency of a cream on the inside. The thermactor emissions port had been blocked by a BB to keep it open but got sucked into the motor, so someone put another in it and it got sucked in. 2 BB's bouncing around cylinders.... The thermactor emissions had been partially removed from the exhaust and the car had no radio, radio antenna or horn button. The lot quick sprayed the car after I said I wanted it and lost the antenna, so they took out the radio to install a new one but I closed on the deal before they finished so they stopped working on it. I ended up just pulling the 302 out and swapping it for a fresh built 289 I did. When I took the heads off the 302 there were 2 cylinders with hundreds of BB craters in them with the BB embedded in the pistons. Glad I swapped the motor. Heck glad I only spent 2,800 dollars on an original Grabber in 2007! Now shes my pride and joy..

Mr. Choi, I so enjoy many atuomotive RU-vidr postings. It depresses me to state that you have become my first to be blacklisted in my mind. Your content about the Tesla going airborne was in so many ways outside what I believe the community is about. Yes, you were not the driver. Thank you! However, you were present. You positioned yourself ahead of time to record the event . So, basically, you supported an individual who used a vehicle that was not his own, to perform a destructive action that resulted in 1. The vehicle being totaled. 2. Passengers lives being put at risk. 3. Innocent people having their property being destroyed. 4. Innocent property owners undergoing hardship when they just want to continue their normal lives getting to and from work and running errands. 5 Endangering the life of a person's pet. (Cat) You were okay with someone destroying another person's property. (No difference between a corporation's property or a private individual, maybe using an app, to reduce their car payments. Why? Because there isn't a difference. The Tesla wasn't his to destroy on a whim.) All this was just for views. Shame on you! Really! I cannot think of any action that would be more cruel. I have enjoyed your content. Content from others too! But my liked content didn't involve the destruction of anyone else's property, nor the damage of the property of innocent bystanders. Your glorification of such disregard of another's property is SHIT! Go on a rally. How would you feel when your fire farting Lambo is driven into a lake just for Shits and Giggles! Maybe insurance even decides not to reimburse you because they say you thought it was okay so that you could get RU-vid views. I purchased a car sight unseen, but what I did do was pay a 3rd party inspector through ebay to look at it for me. He went on a test drive, inspected the body, took a ton of pics, checked the VIN, etc and put a report together for me and called me on the phone to discuss. He didn';t catch everything but he would have caught anything hugely obvious such as it not starting, loud engine knock and holes in the floor! Well worth the couple hundred bucks I paid.

The sold "as is" protection clause in a vehicle contract is damn near iron clad. Usually, arbitration is the only recourse, but that heavily favors the seller. As far as I know, only failure to disclose known salvage can force a buy-back or guarantee a civil court win. Incorrect title will as well, with matching mileage between car and title being the most straight forward way to detect a scam. Unfortunately, if the vehicle is older than ten years, title mileage is exempt.

I bought a used car sight-unseen and had it shipped to me. The car was almost perfect, so it isn't an interesting story. How many RU-vid videos are made about the millions of airplane flights that didn't crash?

Bought a classic from a showroom in the dead of winter and didn't drive it. Paid for it, brought it home and the repairs began. Over heating, hot start issue, carb float was flooding secondaries, rear end gears too high for highway cruising, etc...... $4,000 later and I am getting close to having a dependible driver.

I’m so glad we don’t have this in the uk. It’s like the Wild West in America. Such a shame because this car looks beautiful it’s just been really badly built. Good luck with it buddy.

I worked at a dealer for 15 years. We got snowjobbed multiple times at various auctions. Flood cars quick fixed and repainted from Katrina, title washed totalled out trash, stolen vehicles with altered VIN and/or incorrect titles. It's easy to con in the US with very little recourse. Most states only offer lemon law protection on brand new cars. There's very little consumer protection here. Contracts generally just offer arbitration, which heavily favors the seller. It IS the Wild West here. Hell, I don't even need a yearly inspection for emissions or road worthiness where I live. If you saw the shit boxes on the road around here, you'd be afraid to drive to the local grocer, let alone commute a significant distance.

@@noobplebdeluxe4426 It’s really not that dramatic and pretty great for a buyer without Hoovie’s money. You buy a clearly mis sold car that’s a pile of shite from a dealer…you are legally entitled to return it, simple. Much better than the ‘as is’ mentality slapped on a car, which is really just a useful get out for a dealer to shift a crap car without doing work that probably morally should be completed prior to sale.

We don’t have MOT in the US, there are cars driving around that are completely unfit for the road. Some states have permanent registration for older vehicles so they can just keep driving those old vehicles as long as they can keep them running. It is kind of wild now that I think about it.

Best thing to do is hire someone who is an expert on what you're purchasing to do an inspection before making your final bid. I bought a fully restored 1954 Corvette years ago for full price sight unseen except for pictures from a dealer in Ft Lauderdale. When it was shipped and arrived the fun began because the car was a total fake. I hired an attorney who advised me to spend the money on the car and not him, because he was familiar with the seller, and that the seller has disappeared in the past after ripping people off and losing lawsuits, only to reemerge later under a different dealer name in a different state. Buyer beware.

I spent $150,000 and waited 3 years to resto/mod from a Porsche 911 Targa to a twin turbo 3.2 with a G50-50 transmission. Prepaid the builder in full, car is incomplete. Took the car home, hired my own tuner to start the car. Drove it 4 times, Clutch starts slipping at 425 HP. Took it back to the builder, he dropped the engine and transmission twice and all they can say is the car is a Frankenstein and I need to cut the transmission so it fits properly. Now I am not getting spark. Car won't start. Car looks beautiful, still sitting in my garage for another 3 years. Never prepay anyone in full. For the money I invested, I could have bought a GT3RS. This is $150,000 I spent in 2015.
