I watched this movie only once and will never do it again - I never cry at movies, but at this one ... Two days after watching I was still a wreck. I cried so hard. I bought the DVD - it's still sealed, I' ll never open it.
We lost our son 10 days after his birth, the next year we lost our daughter at the age of three. No cancer but both were born with fatal kidney disease . It’s already 26 and 25 years ago, but I still miss them. 15 years ago, my husband died from cancer. I’m from Belgium, so I knew the film. But I was afraid to look. Finally this evening I watched for the first time the movie. It was a crying evening. It seemed I was throwing back in time.How very very real the actors are playing, the emotions, the not-understandings between man and woman, it’s amazing that the actors could set down whole the bunch of feelings, mis-understandings between couples. No doubt Veerle Baetens and Johan Heldenbergh are very great actors!!

4 years ago today I gave birth to our daughter who needed chemo and a stem cell transplant. We also have a son who needed the same treatment. I am so grateful to have them both alive and well today.
We've endured this in real life, in the same hospital where this movie was shot. We lost our son there at the age of 2 on leucemia. I watched this movie once, and it's amazing how they make you feel the pain you have after such a trauma. It's 12 years ago that he died, but there's still a bumpy road ahead.

I agree with you Argyri, she's touching her womb. I've seen it about 5 times already and, yes, I cry every time. It does not matter that I know exactly how it will go and that I should be used to it already. It absolutely breaks me when I hear the song even. This is a film that I share with everyone I can get to watch. You Belgians make good movies and it's right that you're proud of that.

Last year I made my first year of med school summer practice at Pediatric oncology and I think I saw everyday cases like this one...when two lovers destroy their life because of this ruthless sickness...life suck's for too many good people...don't know why it was to be like that...but I'm very sure "God" has nothing to do with all that...guess it's just a matter of luck!!!
we had 2 kids born with SCIDs and they needed bone marrow transplants for stem cell transplants. One was done in America and one in Holland. Holland has been doing them for 63 years. They (in my opinion) are light years ahead of their time.
