Spinning the chuck on and off under power is the craziest thing I have ever seen. You just seemed to guess the offset of the crank pin? If the throw is too long the piston will hit the head, too short and the compression will be down. You also appeared to align the two bearing pins by eye. I wonder what happened to shear the crank shaft in the first place because that little weld on the hammered in end of that spacer isn’t going to hold much. It looks ok at the end but that’s about it. It would have been skilful to turn a new one from a piece of solid.
Which part was great? I’m retired now but I saw at ten things that would have got my arse kicked as a machinist. Not to mention it was a pointless exercise. If that shaft could shear off, that little weld is never going to hold it. All of those bearing surfaces were aligned roughly by eye. How long do you think those hammered on bearings are going to last. I could see them wobbling in the video. He will have an eye out using that cutting wheel with no guard and no safety glasses. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but sooner or later. Spinning that 4 Jaws chuck on under power while holding it against his chest could cut his chest open or if it catches his clothes pull him through the machine. Others may see him working like this and think “I’ll do that too” Not sure if he’s showing off or just making videos.
