Probably controversial but is Marc over coaching during the match a little? Too much fear in the team of messing up which leads to exactly that. Just even when they went 1-0 up the players were a bit lacking in confidence to do anything and by 1-1 even more so it looked like players being a bit reluctant to do anything themselves and then just play the ball that Marc shouts them to. Which kind of makes a player indecisive and that’s when mistakes creep in. I can’t put my finger on the word to describe it but what happens is that it becomes easier for a player to shift individual responsibility onto the manager this way rather than letting the player make quick choices for themselves. Yes they’re going to make mistakes but if they can put it down to “that’s what the manager told me to do” they’re less likely to make up for it like they would if it was their own choice. Again, hard to explain but it seems to be causing players to stand still a lot making them sitting ducks for pressure and if they’re waiting for the shout from the bench before deciding what to do with the ball, there’s going to be a lot of time when possession is won back by the opposition when it shouldn’t be. Is the pressure of the need for the club to stay in the national league maybe playing out in the dugout a little bit too much and contributing to the fall down the table? Because the worse thing that can happen, worse than losing and making mistakes is freezing and not being able to make a decision either way, that one’s going to cause failure every single time. Players need freedom and trust that they can play and make decisions on the pitch and I’m just not getting that feeling in this one. And if that has continued since, maybe that is what needs looking at too. Not sure keeping it in the corner was guaranteed to waste enough time and had Dorking got a 2nd from it, it would have been a different story. But the corner isn’t where my point about over coaching was, that kind of thing is needed but it’s the individual “pass it to x” kind of thing I’m talking about.
I went to watch Dorking’s home defeat against Fylde last week. I haven’t been completely up to date, but I was surprised to see Dorking play a much more direct style of play than what I saw last season and their reputation in previous seasons. What’s happened?
Can’t really complain about the players going up for the corner at the end. You’re the manager, you tell them. If they don’t listen then that says a lot about
Harrison got clipped when he punched that ball out. Idk if he should’ve stayed down or not but he’s gotta get back to the net to make that save. Good game but just unlucky
The management team are poor, don't know who's picking up who, take ages to work out the set up of the opposition. They should be studying and know the ins and outs of the opposition, should work harder.
😂 my lord im becoming more of a fan of marc white as i watch these things, yeah i called the team a sham (cos well im a wrexham fan and i can get carried away i apologise for that) BUT The Gaffer has grown on me cos he reminds me of me😂
I'm watching the Lazio-Bayern game atm. Lazio's manager, Sarri, is practically standing on the touchline. Right under the 4th official's nose. It seems only the NCL managers, especially Marc, get harrassed for not staying in the technical area during play.
Why is this so far behind its annoying cause i dont want to see the results to watch this because even though im a Liverpool fan im starting to follow dorking aswell
Multiple reasons - Because we’re making a documentary and that takes time, the clubs generally prefer us to be behind so we’re not impacting directly week to week, because I want to tell the story of a season and it helps hugely to know what the future holds. And ultimately, we’re telling the story of how a result came about, as much as the result itself.
I've started supporting whoever Dorking play every week, manager never stops complaining about and at the ref and the commentator is his minister for propaganda.
A manager's job is to improve performance. This bloke just puts on a performance. There's no analysis, no filter, no thought given to how much players can actually take on board while playing. It's just shouting out in order to be noticed. Total waste of energy.
