The Browns are thankful for this song. After 53 years, it is still selling world wide & being enjoyed by not only our many fans, but now our children & grandchildren. Thanks everyone for the nice comments you have made. (Maxine Brown)
Unfortunately no one responded to you Maxine while you were still with us, but may you Rest In Peace. This song will always be in our hearts, just like you are still.
I loved this song when I was a young boy. So thankful RU-vid gives is an opportunity to see the performers in their prime. God Bless You, your sister and the real Jimmy Brown.
@@natividadrodriguezjr9425 I met Jim Ed when I was very pregnant with my almost 22 year old son! I told him that I'd loved him for as long as I could remember❤ Most memorable kiss🤗🤗🤗 on the cheek🎵💙🎶❤🎵
@@julienielsen3746 one hour goes by in 60 seconds. If your 90, it still goes by 60 seconds in an hour. I know what you meant. It seems to. I apologize, I had to be picky.
This song reminds me of my late husband. He was raised Christian but he fell away. I just.pray that he found Jesus again before he died. He had been a very good kind man until he lost his way.
I'm in the same age group and we had the best music from the 50s all the way up till the 70s. None of it will ever go out of style. I go out dancing all the time and some groups do a little doo-wop, some do rock 'n'roll, some do the blues, some to Motown and all of us know all the words. We're so lucky to have RU-vid!
I am 44 years old and listended to this since a little girl...my dad would play guitar and I would sing. To this day I cry every time I hear this song.
@@sweetsunnyvibes You must be Canadian yourself...which is why you didn't write it, "your" Canadian - you used the proper, "you're". If you are not Canadian...I'd have something different to say then.
A Mari, of course, and I would have to agree, he had the calmest and smoothest voice, and there is a word for his demeanor, but I just can't think of it at the present.
When I was a little girl in the 60's my parents would put "old" country music on the record player. My life has been enriched because of talent like the Three Bells. I love this song as well as The Little Lamplighter. Now, it's 2011 and because of today's technology I can revisit my childhood and enjoy treasures like this.
I learned of The Browns from the Sopranos series. This song was played in more than one episode. They sound so amazing! Jim Ed Brown's range is mesmerizing and this song is truly one of my favorites!
@@wa9kzy326 You can hear the original by Edith Piaf. It is French and called Les Trois Cloche. If you can understand French you'll notice the lyrics are very different reflecting a Roman Catholic influence.
It was a sweeter world, filled with sweeter music, when this sweet song first appeared in my life. My heart longs for those days💔 and I cannot wait to wing my way to Heaven. I am 70 years old now, so it shouldn't be much longer.....
And the little congregation, prayed for guidance from above; lead us not into temptation, may his soul find find the salvation of thy great eternal love.
This song was popular when I was in High school, I loved it then, I still love it now. I was so lucky to have that kind of influence during my youth. Makes me wonder what kind of influences are happening to youth now. It sure has become different. Hopefully youth will discover this kind of music.
Connie passed away. Only Maxine is left. I am weeping with joy. Loved hearing this song on my little transistor radio when I was only 12/ God Bless the Brown Family, friends an fans. She died yesterday, proceeded by her brother. The Browns. Much love. From a rock and roller.
my uncle left for the african missions around the time this song came out. every time my mom heard it she would cry. not the sobbing kind but the quiet little tear down her cheek. i bought the lp that the song was on she would put it on the record player and have her quiet little cry.
I feel this is the best version of this beautiful song. The rich harmonies are all sung with each vocalist working with the others & not attempting to overpower them, and the solo sections are delivered with passion & perfect pitch by a voice sent from above
Jim Ed is the best! I fell for him the first time I saw him at Ernest Tubb's Midnight Jamboree at his Record Store in Nashville. I saw him at the Grand Ol' Opry and in a lot of concerts since then, and I still think he was one of the very best. R.I.P., Jim Ed Brown. I'll always love you and your music.
True, although if you post a short of releasing a beanfart that startles a squirrel in a funny way, within a month you'll have as many views nowadays.. just to put it into perspective. But yeah these are quality views, with mouses being controlled with the help of reading glasses.
I was born and raised in a small town in Kentucky. I didn't listen to much music on the radio, but one evening I happened upon this song. It brought tear's to my eye's. I'm now nearly 70 yr's old and it still tear's me up. One of the best song's ever.
I always loved that song; then I found out some years ago that it was the #1 song on the date, month, and year that I was born....now, I love it even more! 😍 I have my very own Birthday Song!
@@brookelondon8029 Hey, let me know what you find out. Now, do you know that your email has numbers special to me 😀...8 (August, the 8th month - my birth month) 29 ( my birth date) 😁. In case you're interested, you can check for your own special Bible verse too. Mine is Romans, Chapter 8, Verse 29!..Happy hunting 😀
I love the little look on his face as the applause opens up, like... "Damn! We made it to the Opry!" Very few get there, and when they do, they most certainly deserve the praise. Unless, of course, you were Elvis, but that is a story I am sure the folks over at the opry wished never happened.
My husband was Jimmy Brown. He passed away almost 4 years ago. I used this song at his memorial. Hearing it is bittersweet. Thanks, John for sharing it.
A soul winged its way to heaven. ...R.I.P. my Angel Ken this was one of your favorite songs we would sing it as we were trucking along. Love and miss you.
this is one of my mom's favorite songs. it came out about the same time that they sent my uncle (her brother) to the missions in africa. my mom was a tough lady. i am the oldest of eight and she ruled the roost. when she turned 86 she went through with open heart surgery, a quad bypass with an aortic valve replacement. she lives on her own in a retirement apartment and still drives her own car. tough alright but play this song and she turns to mush.
You won't find any better singing anywhere. Have you ever thought that it is possible that this song is dedicated to a little child in his family? Jim Ed was young here. I think his facial expressions are sincere. It is so amazing, they have that same awesome quality even in 1999.
Although Jim Ed Brown is with the Master now I for one will never forget that angelic voice of his that I remember listening to since I was a child... As you listen to the lyrics of this song you can't help but realize it has come full circle for "Little Jimmy Brown"... Your battle is over here on earth but what a wonderful song your singing in "Heavens Choir"... God Bless Always **Gail**
God ! Guys, you deserve the biggest applause!!! And many many thanks for your songs, your voices and our memories so beatifully weaven with music like yours. Love.
I don't know how he can sing a song like this and not get choked up!! I sure couldn't. I'm getting misty sitting on the computer chair with my feet up on the computer desk just listening to it!! Nicely sung. They don't sing 'em like this any more ... SADLY!!!
One of the finest songs I have ever heard! The Browns do in fact own this song, no matter how well others might perform this jewel of an Idea/Song! I truely love these people, their presentation of Hope, and Love being so pristine, so pure! Tears are an apropriate response to hearing this tender, kind song, unless one hates. It is our responsibility to re-ignite the quiet power and passion built into the meanings of this song for our children and grandchildren, and their children!
Learnt this in school (1983) with a friend and we used to sing it loud in class, then every time we used to see each other over the years, never grew up, great song.......
On this day in 1955 {August 14th} the parents of Jim Ed, Maxine, and Bonnie Brown celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in Gladewater, Texas... Attending the anniversary party was a 20 year old Sun Records recording artist named Elvis Presley; at the time Elvis' "Baby Let's Play House" was at #12 on Billboard's Country & Western Best Sellers chart... In 1959 the Browns' "Three Bells" reached #1 on both Billboard's Top 100 and Hot Country Singles charts... R.I.P. to The King {1935 - 1977} and all three Browns are still with us; Maxine is 82, Jim Ed is 80, and Bonnie is 77...
michael hampton Thanks for the reply; according to www.songfacts.com "Three Bells" peaked at #6 in the United Kingdom... See: www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=3164 Thanks again...
stumbled across this song almost 4 years ago and it gave me so much comfort and peace during my heart surgery. I always wanted to meet this group, but I never did. Rest in peace Mr. Brown for you will never know how much you have helped others.
