After covering Tenkaichi 3, I thought it would be fun to take a divergence to the OTHER most popular DBZ game, Budokai 3! This one was always one of my favorites and I still struggle to say whether I prefer Budokai 3 or Tenkaichi 3. I had a lot of fun coming back and giving Budokai 3 a visit, and there were suprisingly a TON of facts that were all slowly coming back to me as I was playing and I think it made for a great Iceberg as I had a lot of fun making this.

The Iceberg seen in this video was made by me and was honestly a fun test of my knowledge and hopefully you all learn something new! I threw some really good facts in there that I'm certain a few of you guys would like!
This took a long-ass time to make, but I'd argue it was worth it!

I was kinda surprised when I saw the "Budokai 4 Mod" in the iceberg, I was *sure* you were going to talk about one of the many B3 mods out there, but instead seeing our B4 Project featured in your video was a wonderful surprise. Nah wouldn't wanna waste money on visual cutscenes would rather them put more money into content The text & voice were alright probs more characters and story's be awesome like Imagine GT storyline , DB Super storyline , could fit a lot more other storyline's and have heaps of customisation with characters clothing moves and perks Budokai 4 needs to be made!!!

Same, those cutscenes were the coolest thing when I was a kid. I was so disappointed when I got budokai 3 and the cutscenes were just flat images with text and sparse voice acting.

The only thing I think that this Iceberg is missing is the immense amount of unused audio for Dragon Universe with the rest of the characters of the game. With crazy scenarios like a Saibaman rebelling against Nappa and joining Gohan and Krillin in Namek, Goku going Super Saiyan 4 to defeat Kid Buu, and Trunks meeting Broly in the future. Either way, this was a fantastic iceberg with a lot of new information I had no knowledge of!!

The Dragon Fist version seen in this game is the one used against Super Android 13. SSJ Goku attempts the Spirit Bomb but he can't maintain it since SSJ makes him too unstable to concentrate properly. He instead absorbs the energy and uses it to enhance the Dragon Fist technique he used against DK Piccolo.

-The 'Goku Scouter' entry is something I kinda like, because I never really liked that Ginyu and Goku kept their voices even when body swapped; it makes more sense that Goku stills sounds like Goku even when Ginyu is in his body. -Broly showing up after Goku beats Super Buu as a what-if is so funny to me, like he just wanted that fade so bad he defied the script. -the 'SSJ5' SSJ4 Gogeta color palette is sick as hell with the white hair and golden fur, but I cannot get over that he's just inexplicably black. Budokai 3 made the 'Goku Black that is black' joke decades before Lythero did gotdamn

-I actually thought the Super Saiyan 2 Gohan model change was very common knowledge. -For the starting transformation battles in Goku’s dragon universe, it automatically happens in the first playthrough. Any subsequent playthroughs require triggering certain story cutscenes or going to specific destinations. -After the first fight with Final Form Frieza, you’ll run into 3 dots that will lead to fighting Cooler, SS Vegeta, or 100% Full Power Frieza on Dying Namek. Head to the south east one on the island to repeat the SS1 fight. -For the second playthrough of SS3 Goku vs. Majin Buu, right after the battle with Majin Vegeta before you fight Buu, you need to find and evacuate everyone to Kami’s lookout (Bulma in West City, Chichi at Goku’s House, 18 & Krillin at the Kame House). Do that and the SS3 battle will trigger again when you fight Majin Buu.

Huh i always assumed it was tied to having the specific form equipped as a capsule when starting the fight, which obviously anyone doing a second run would have obtained the breakthrough capsule that doesn't count for it the same way.

I always thought the game's story let you start the fight transformed depending on if you skipped the scene that your character's transformation was involved in. Such as you start the fight out against Majin Buu in base form if you skip the scene, but start out in SSJ3 if you play all of the dialogue before the fight. I tested it out multiple times as a kid.

Hands down one of the best dbz games of all time the game really makes you feel like your in dragon ball the attacks and the customisability really makes the game enjoyable as well as the roster being fantastic it’s great to see a video on how deep the game goes since it has tons of secrets and Easter eggs from dbz

Cool detail about Dragon Rushes is that Frieza, Cell and Cooler have a Death Beam barrage as the final move while third form Frieza does the Crazy Finger Beams he used on Piccolo. I love Budokai 3 so much I don’t care about the story being told through the cut outs. 4:56 always loved this. 11:07 removed What If is probably referring to the removed Dragon Universe campaign that was about Kid Goku travelling forward through time.

Loved the video. You could have mentioned the best combo of capsules that the Devs definitely left in. If you notice Majin Vegeta's only triggers when at the last HP bar, so if you pair it with Senzu Bean you get to play as Majin Vegeta at full HP. (and they fit perfectly together)

Starting transformed has nothing to do with equipping the capsule if you don’t have it equipped the game will make you equip it; this has to do with story route and what order you’re doing it. If you do certain side quests before main events sometimes events are changed : like Buu and Goku

Also, for those who are interested, there are people working on adding achievements to this game. Budokai 1 and 2 and a lot of the tenkaichi games already have these added through RetroAchievements. Budokai 3 is one of the most requested sets on the website atm 😁.

Fun fact:the different frame rates between the EU and US/JP versions of the budokai games make it to where certain combos become possible or impossible to fully land depending on what version you are playing. Also some moves will have different properties due to this fact as well. There's actually a video comparing them but I don't remember what it's called.

Dragon Arena was the ultimate challenge after unlocking everything in the story mode. It was so much fun to use my favorite characters and level them up so I could beat my brothers in multiplayer

I'm pretty sure that the final explosion entry also refers to the fact that whomever wins the power struggle minigame also wins the fight. Also the fact that the move actually overflows the damage counter and leaves the winner and loser at 0 hp. The winner still lives though. Because I guess the games acts as if you guarded the attack.

16:48 This is one of favorite points of this game. My favorite what if, is the alternative final battle in vegeta story. If you fight vs Broly in vegeta story and do certainly things. You can fight vs Goku ssj4. And after you win him, and believe me this is very difficult. I see one video on RU-vid about this fight, and the player lost 5 or 6 tines before he win Goku. After you defeat Goku you unlock for vegeta the capsule of the Gogeta ssj4 fusion.

I remember when this game first came out. Specifically on the cheat code websites there was a code for ss4 trunks which of course didnt work lol. Also for Budokai 1, with a gameshark they said you could've unlocked ss4 goku which also wasn't true but I fucking tried 😂

Goku with a scouter is not the only “unused” model in the game either. As Frieza has a fully programed 3D model of him being perched in his hoverchair that is never seen in the game. Obviously, this model was meant to be used when you played as him in Dragon Universe but unfortunately that never happened. However, you CAN use it in other battle modes strangely enough despite the fact that it was never intended to be seen in either of those modes. But great video nonetheless, it is still pretty interesting that Goku with a scouter is the only costume that you can’t access in the game yourself. It’s kinda like how a lot of those Story Mode costumes were for the original Dragon Ball Z: Budokai.

Final explosion, ya though he did it on the ground, post attack he ended up in the sky as he collapsed falling. Oddly enough the same happened to Gohan when launching the father son kamehameha where he fell crashing unto the ground after killing Cell.

11:31 This is something that only English-speaking people and people from Europe do not understand. In the original Anime and Manga, Cell says "i can do the Genkidama (Spirit Bomb) if i wants" This dialogue is in the original Japanese dub and in the Latin American Spanish, even in the original manga. in the english dub it was changed to something else. and the european dubs are known to be "a translation of another translation of another translation" (quadruple translation) where they changed names and entire scenes, making many original dialogs absent and difficult to understand.

Despite starting off with 7 full ki gauges, Omega Shenron actually has only 100% base attack. Many characters start out at greater than 100% (Kid Buu begins with 140%) and only get stronger when their ki rises above their starting ki or when they transform. Even though he starts off with full ki, I've always felt Omega Shenron is slightly weaker than several other characters due to the fact that he has no way to increase his stats outside of items.

Alternate story paths like Krillin punching cell and making him puke out 18 instead of Gohan doing it. Were the best part of this game. Yamcha defeating Vegeta was fun too.

Nah the pidgey frieza voice line always sounded like he was saying pity to me very clearly and it makes sense as a taunt anyways. He says pity cause he just gets back up and can still fight

According to Dr.Doppietta and several other players, the King Piccolo skin actually have differences in hitboxes and hurtboxes. If I'm not mistaken, the Light Granade is also dark instead of yellow!

dragon rush wouldnt have been so bad if they didnt lock some signature moves behind it, at the last stage no less! Wouldve been a lot better if you can choose what move you want at the last stage while also being able to execute it outside of the rush

2:24 it isn't actually unique. DB Legends also has a very similar mechanic called rising rush. Legends probably took the idea from this game. And also this is also hated in legends
